Chapter 873: Surface

Chapter 873: Surface

He didn't answer immediately, but leisurely lit a cigarette and took a puff. A cold smile appeared on his

face as the smoke enveloped his visage, but the coldness in his eyes remained crystal clear.

He finally picked up the call, and a woman's voice immediately sounded in his ear, "Are you crazy?"

Sienna questioned angrily.

Mario just smiled and said, "Yes, I am crazy. Sienna, who gave you the courage to marry Rex right

under my nose?"

Sienna had never thought of hiding it from him before she posted it on Facebook; after all, he would

find out sooner or later.

Sienna replied indifferently, "I don't need anyone to give me courage. I'll decide my own business."

"So you're not afraid that I'll make those photos public?" Mario asked.

"You won't," Sienna said with certainty, "If you destroy me, you'll destroy yourself as well. You won't dig

your own grave."

"Is that so?" Mario sneered, "Sienna, I'm a man, those things won't threaten me at all. On the contrary,

do you think Rex won't mind?"

"So, you're trying to force me to become your enemy like this?" Sienna coldly retorted. Her emotions

and attitude remained calm and indifferent throughout the conversation, as if she were merely asking

an ordinary question.

After she finished speaking, Mario didn't immediately respond, and their conversation paused. His

meaning and her current attitude made it clear to Mario that she wouldn't compromise this time.

But Mario was also someone who wouldn't compromise.

After a short silence, his cold voice sounded again as he said, "I'm not forcing you; you're forcing me,

Sienna. While I was injured and hospitalized, you immediately married Rex. Do you think that would

completely separate us? But have I ever told you that I don't care about these things? I care about the

outcome, not the process."

As long as the outcome was what he wanted, he didn't care about what happened during the process.

His personality made Sienna deeply feel his stubbornness. What he did really made her feel

oppressed, and she didn't know what to say.

She asked, "Mario, I did owe the King family but not you. Mom never asked me to return anything to

her. So why do you keep threatening me again and again? Whatever consequences you care about

are your own business. Why should I comply with your demands for a certain outcome? Say whatever

you want, but I won't be threatened by you. If you want to make those photos public and expose

everything to the world, then I'd like to see who's truly at fault, you or me?"

Sienna took a deep breath and held her phone tightly, trying to remind herself to calm down. She didn't

want to say anything that would anger Mario at this moment, but the truth was she couldn't calm down

and keep quiet.

Mario's attitude was just too much.

So she couldn't help it and said everything that was on her mind. She didn't intend to give Mario any

respect because he didn't even want to give himself any.

Sienna didn't give Mario a chance to speak and said, "Do whatever you want. I won't be scared by your

threats anymore. If you really want to ruin me, do you think you'll end up in a better place? You keep

claiming it's for my own good, but you only care about yourself. You just want everyone to put you in

the first place. Well, I won't be foolish enough to fall for it again."

She had never denied that she had feelings for Mario. It was a naive affection from her teenage years,

something she couldn't control. She believed that Mario was being nice to her because he liked her, so

she expressed her feelings without thinking much.

But his words, "I only see you as a little sister. Don't say such things anymore," completely extinguished

her feelings. Since then, she told herself not to hope for what she shouldn't and not to continue being

foolish.

After the call, Sienna didn't let Mario speak and ended the conversation directly. She had made the call

from her room while Rex was in the living room. Sienna stood by the window, took a deep breath, and

calmed herself before walking out of the room.

Rex was reading, and he noticed her coming out. He handed her the list of people they needed to treat

to dinner in Hance. Sienna glanced at the list, knowing she didn't have many friends. Camille was her

best friend, and others were mostly associated with the King family due to her status. She wouldn't

need to invite anyone apart from Camille.

Apart from Camille, the rest were Rex's friends. Some Sienna knew, and some she didn't. Among them

were several female names.

Sienna asked playfully, "Is there a table reserved for your ex-girlfriends?"

Rex frowned slightly and put down the book, looking at her, "What would you do if there were?"

"How should I handle it? I can't start a fight, right? That would be too embarrassing for you. Don't men

like wives who are understanding?"

Rex was almost driven mad but managed to say through gritted teeth, "Just stop talking."

They playfully teased each other, and the unpleasant atmosphere from before had completely

disappeared.

As for Mario's words, Sienna naturally didn't tell Rex about them. She made a bet that Mario might

have a hint of hesitation.

Sienna and Rex were planning to return to Hance the day after tomorrow. Before that, Sienna had to go

to the King family once more. She probably wouldn't need to visit them again in the future, given what

Mrs. King had told her. However, she needed to return the card Mrs. King gave her, which contained

ten million dollars.

To the King family, ten million dollars was nothing, but Sienna couldn't accept it. She was moved by the

legal matters Mrs. King arranged for her, and that meant more to her than the money. It would save her

from a lot of trouble.

Sienna shared her thoughts with Rex, and he agreed. He added another ten million as a thank-you to

the King family for taking care of Sienna for so many years. Although the King family didn't need that

money, Rex insisted on showing his gratitude. They decided to deliver it the next day, and Rex didn't go

inside; he just dropped Sienna off at the gate and waited in the car.

Sienna went in and came out in about twenty minutes, and everything went smoothly. Mrs. King didn't

say much, just gladly accepted the card Sienna returned. As Sienna left the King family, she felt a great

relief.

In contrast, Camille and Ayan were much colder these days. Although they lived under the same roof

and communicated, it was nothing like the intimacy they once had.

Their relationship was like a cold war, and any communication was just to maintain the superficialnovelbin

peace.

That night, Camille didn't go home directly after work. Instead, she returned to the company and didn't

get back to Maple Leaves Mansion until around nine in the evening. Ayan hadn't come back yet, and of

course there were no calls or messages either.

Where is he?
