Chapter 996

Chapter 996

Albert said in a gentle voice, “Even though you and Stella are divorced, to me, we’re still family.Besides, I’m just used to calling you that after so many years.”

Keegan raised his eyebrows and said, “Well, I’m afraid that you have to start getting used toaddressing me in a different way now. You’re not Stella’s father. Technically, I’m not related to you inany way. If you don’t stop calling me that, I’ll have to do a lot of explaining to others. So, please stopdoing that.”

The edge of Albert’s eye twitched as he felt extremely awkward.novelbin

However, when he heard how warmly Keegan said Stella’s name, he realized that Keegan was stillwilling to be with her despite being lied to previously.

So, it further solidified his decision to adopt Stella and become her foster father because the benefitsthat the Kane family had brought him in the past years were simply irresistible and he could not let goof them.

Albert quickly adjusted himself. “Even though I’m not Stella’s biological father, I’ve raised her since shewas a child. I’ve also told her about adopting her and I know that deep down, she’s fine with it too. Nomatter what, I’m still considered as her father.”

Hylda became anxious after hearing what. “What nonsense are you talking about? Are you sure thatyou want to adopt Stella? Are you out of your mind?”

Albert’s face immediately darkened. “Shut up when men are talking!’

Hylda was fuming. Not only that Albert cheated on her and got another woman pregnant, he even triedto adopt Stella. She could not figure out what was going on in Albert’s head. Stella had such deep

resentment toward them, yet he wanted to keep a deadly threat around him. Albert’s decision wassimply ridiculous to Hylda!

As her anger flared, her stomach began hurting. She instinctively grabbed Albert and grunted, “Albert,my stomach hurts.”

Albert thought that she was just pretending to ruin his plan, so he got impatient with her. “Go back toyour room and rest then. Who told you to come outside?”

Then, he turned to Stella and put on a concerned look on his face. “Stella, how have you been lately? Is the money I transferred to you previously enough? I can give you more money If you need them.”

Hylda was already very angry, and her eyes rolled to the back of her head when she heard Albertgiving Stella money behind her back.

Ian was watching from afar, and he immediately went forward to hold Hylda up when he noticed thatsomething was wrong with her. He frowned and asked worriedly, “Sis, are you okay?”

Hylda responded weakly, “My stomach hurts.”

It was only then that Albert knew that Hylda was not pretending. He immediately started complainingwhen he realized that their baby could be in danger, “The doctor already told you that you need to rest. Why did you come outside? You just got to make things difficult for everyone, don’t you?

It was simply impossible for a person to listen to what he said and not get angry.

However, Stella did not sympathize with Hylda at all. She figured that her revenge would mean nothingif Hylda could not experience what her mother had to go through back then.

Hylda was in so much pain that she could not speak. Ian immediately held her up and went to look for adoctor without saying anything.

Albert was not bothered to throw himself at Keegan anymore, as he quickly followed Ian after brieflysaying goodbye to him.

Keegan asked, “Mr. Jewell, do you need help?”

Albert paused as he did not expect Keegan to call him back.

He instinctively asked without thinking, “With what?”

Keegan then flatly said, “I can recommend you to a good obstetrician that I know. She providesexcellent care for older mothers and ensures minimal pregnancy complications.”

Albert was surprised when he heard that. “Why would you know an obstetrician?”

Keegan replied, “I had plans to have a kid with Stella, and I wanted to find out how to increase theprobability of having a boy.”

Stella was speechless.
