Chapter 491 How Much Do You Need?

Carrying Logan, Damien sped downstairs. If Chanel was alone, she wouldn’t have been able to move

Logan at all.

Seeing the easy way Damien put Logan into his car, Chanel started daydreaming again. It was as if

she had gone back to her youth, when this dependable man was always by her side. Even his

appearance was enough to give her a sense of security. On top of that, he was now carrying her child.

Now that they were back in contact, they would only interact even more.

Damien got Chanel to sit in the backseat to care for the child. He started up the car before making a

call to the head of Florin Pediatric Hospital and passed the message that there was a sick child with

him who needed hospitalization, and asked for a room to be prepared. The head of the hospital

followed Damien’s instructions with haste.

Chanel was delighted. ‘This man is omnipotent! He’s organized and well-connected.’

Most women could not help but admire such a man, and Chanel was no exception.

Chanel was already in her thirties. Even so, she smiled, feeling as though there were pink hearts

floating around her at the moment.

“Why didn’t Clarissa come?” Chanel asked after Damien hung up.

“Oh, she’s writing a paper at home.”

Chanel nodded.“She’s really capable. I think she’ll become a professor once she publishes a few more

papers. She really can’t get distracted right now. Besides, she still has other things to take care of. Her

future is bright.”

For some reason, Damien felt somewhat proud. At the same time, he was annoyed at Chanel’s words.

He was proud because his wife was incredible; he was annoyed because she had exchanged three

years for these accomplishments.

“By the way, you wanted to borrow money?” Damien asked Chanel.

The University of Florin was a distance away from the hospital, so they found something to talk about

while Logan slept, with Chanel gently soothing him.

At Damien’s mention of this, Chanel finally came back to herself. “Yes. I really didn’t know how to bring

it up, so I asked Clarissa to talk to you. The house is subsidized by the university, so it’s not too

expensive. The only thing is that I have to pay the whole sum. With just me, it’s a bit challenging.”

“How much do you need?”

“Um…” Chanel did a rough calculation in her head. “About 350 thousand dollars. It’s more than 400

dollars per square foot, and I’m going for a 1300 square foot unit, so I need 520 thousand dollars. I

have a hundred thousand dollars or so, so…”novelbin

“What’s your account number?” Damien was very decisive, immediately asking for Chanel’s account

number.

Actually, Chanel’s account information was in her bag. However, she had an idea.

“My account information is at home, so I need to check it when I get back. Won’t you be at the

university for a while? I’ll give it to you once I’ve checked it,”Chanel answered.

Damien didn’t think too much about it. He only said, “Sure.”

After arriving at the hospital, Damien had Chanel bring Logan in while he paid the fees and got the

medicine downstairs.

The doctor took some blood from the child for some tests. As the doctor was weighing Logan, Chanel

kept thinking about Damien.

After Logan was admitted to a single ward, Damien stayed to keep watch. He was worried Chanel

wouldn’t be able to handle things alone.

Soon, it was time for dinner. Damien received a message from Clarissa.

Clarissa: [Is Logan all better? What are you having for dinner tonight?]

Damien: [He’s getting an IV transfusion. Bring me dinner.]

Clarissa: [...]

“Damien, what are you having for dinner?” Chanel asked.

“Oh, Clarissa’s bringing me dinner.”

After a beat, Chanel made a noise of assent.

Knowing that Clarissa was dropping by, Chanel felt a vague sense of displeasure.

She never had this kind of feeling before. All along, although she had made use of Clarissa, their

relationship was still amicable. Besides, she had never seen Clarissa as an enemy and had never done

anything bad to her. This was because Chanel thought she was still below Clarissa and wasn’t a match

for her.
