Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 206

Chapter 206 Come Here Damien gave Luke not only a huge sum of money, but also a large mansion.

Luke, who was obviously thrilled by the gifts, immediately finalized the date for his engagement with

Emily.

Clarissa, however, felt uneasy about Damien’s generosity. She knew full well that the fastest way to

punish someone was to drive them into insanity.

On the day of Luke’s engagement, Clarissa helped Damien with his suit. As she did so, she sipped in a

question and asked anxiously, “You wouldn’t do anything to my brother, right?”

Damien stared at Clarissa for a second before replying, “You care about him even when he’s not your

biological brother?”

He then knocked her gently on the head.

Since he’s not my biological brother, why did you give him money?” That stunned Damien, who was in

the middle of buttoning his shirt. “I had to.” Clarissa was still unable to let go of her unease. She held

Damien’s hands and pleaded sincerely, “Don’t punish him, please?” Damien only looked at her.

“There’s no need to.”

His words didn’t make Clarissa feel relieved or secure. Luke and Emily’s engagement took place in a

four-star hotel. Theresa reached the venue early. Like Clarissa, she too was feeling insecure. Firstly,

she was never fond of the idea of Damien as her son-in-law. Secondly, Damien was the one paying for

everything To Theresa, this was no better than her selling her beloved daughter for money.

That fact made her heart as heavy as a stone.

But Damien gave the money to Luke already, and there was nothing much that she could do.

On that day, Emily was dressed in an extravagant dress that revealed a lot of skin.

She was only pregnant for three months. While this wasn’t obvious yet, she carried a rather small bump

in her tummy, something she found sexy. Most importantly, Damien was present.

Luke was a complete nobody when compared to a man like Damien.

Luke had also invited Joseph to the engagement party. Arriving here, Joseph was quick to realize that

Luke’s attitude toward him had changed.

The entire time, Joseph couldn’t tear his eyes away from Clarissa. Similar to Theresa, Clarissa looked

bothered and filled with unease. Darien glanced over Joseph’s table, and quickly held Clarissa’s hand.

While Clarissa knew that Damien was doing this to show Joseph their relationship, she couldn’t help

but feel awkward about his gesture.

Luke didn’t share his mother or sister’s nervous sentiments. On the other hand, he was on cloud nine.

He stood on the chair and made a toast, looking ecstatic all the way. “Today is my and Emily’s

engagement party! I really appreciate everyone who attended.”

Then, he chugged down the entire glass of wine without hesitation,

Clarissa also drank a little, if only out of etiquette.

Emily accompanied Luke to drink with the guests, but her main target was Damien.

She strode toward Theresa with haughty steps.

“Mom, I’ll drink with you as your daughter-in-law. But since I’m pregnant, I can only drink tea. I hope

you can understand.” Emily tried her best to make her voice seductive.

Plus, there was someone she wanted to impress today. And so, she went all out with her charisma and

seduction, hoping they would do the trick.

“We’re a family now. It’ll be fine as long as everything is going well for you and Luke,” Theresa said

gently.

No matter how much Theresa disliked Emily, she was still the grandmother of Emily’s child,

“Thanks, Mom.” Emily knew how much Theresa disliked her.

After that, she poured another cup of tea and went to stand in front of Damien.

“Mr. Lawrence.” She lifted her gaze and flashed him a seductively stare. “It’s all thanks to you! Without

you, our engagement party wouldn’t be a success. Shall we drink?”

“I’m driving,” Damien responded abruptly.

“It seems like only the two of us are drinking here.” Emily swayed her body as she spoke, hoping to

tempt Damien. “Let me drink it for you.” Right then, she moved closer to Damien and whispered into his

ears, “Thanks for giving Luke the money.”

Damien instinctively dodged the moment she closed in on him.

Her actions were obviously inappropriate.

Clarissa, who was staring at the whole thing, wondered, ‘Isn’t she engaged to Luke? Why’s she flirting

with Damien?’

As for Theresa, her dislike for Emily grew a thousandfold.

Emily arched her back to stand up straight. In doing so, she deliberately dropped her cup and ended up

pouring tea all over Damien’s pants. She was quick to put on a shocked act. “Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry,

President Lawrence! I should have been more careful.”

She hurriedly bent down to clean the spill. As she was reaching for the tissue, Damien turned his back

on her and went to Clarissa. “You clean it for me.”

Clarissa, who was thoroughly disgusted by Emily’s pathetic act, took some tissues with little hesitation

and squatted in between Damien’s legs.

She was slightly annoyed at Damien as well, because it seemed as if he allowed all these to

happen on purpose.

Joseph, who was sitting opposite them, couldn’t see Clarissa from his view. However, he could see

Damien sitting with his legs wide open.

A position that can be easily misunderstood.

Joseph lowered his head.

“That’s enough! Just be careful and know your place, Emily. After all, Damien is Clarissa’s husband.

Sge should be doing it, not you,” Theresa admonished, no longer able to endure Emily’s antics.

Her words, “know your place”, irritated Emily greatly.

Historically, every relationship between the mother and the daughter-in-law had always been

complicated.

Plus, Emily never liked Theresa either.

Emily even skipped Joseph’s turn to drink. After his messy scandal with Nicole, Joseph was basically anovelbin

nobody to Emily. He was unworthy of her attention!
