Chapter 2132

Sophia's heart sank under the weight of the man's icy glance. She didn't rush to explain, insteadlying back down in silence.

Jason closed the bedroom door behind him and made his way to the living room couch. He satdown and said in a cold tone, "Sophia's sick. You really had no clue? Why aren’t you here takingcare of her yourself? Is your work really that important?"novelbin

Robin, who was already seething with resentment, found himself speechless under Jason'simposing demeanor. He could only mutter with downcast eyes, "She didn't tell me. I had no idea itwas this serious. Plus, I came over as soon as I wrapped things up."

Jason was silent for a moment before speaking again, "I called her and found out she was sick. Icame over to check on her. Earlier, she slipped in the bathroom while showering. I just went in tohelp her out. It's not what you're thinking."

He was never one for explanations. In the past, when misjudged, he would rather endure criticismthan open his mouth to clarify things to anyone.

But today, for Sophia, he was willing to do anything.

He knew Sophia had feelings for Robin, that she couldn't let go.

He didn't want her to be sick and also heartbroken.

Robin remained tight-lipped.

"You know how much Sophia cares about you. Whether you believe her or not is up to you," Jasonsaid as he stood up. "She's got a pretty bad cold, has just eaten, and her medication is on thebedroom table. If you trust her, then stay and take care of her. Your business, no matter howimportant, can't be more important than she is."

Robin replied coolly, "Mr. Gilder, thank you for your care."

Without another word, Jason grabbed his coat and left.

After Jason departed, Robin's frustration had not subsided. He was blameless, yet he had beenreprimanded by Jason.

Feeling wronged, Robin was about to leave as well. However, at the door, he remembered thephone call he had asked Sophia to make to Estelle. If he broke up with Sophia now, the deal withthe Lamont Group would surely fall through.

After hesitating at the door, he turned back and entered the bedroom.

He picked up the scattered fruits and pastries from the floor, placed them on the table, sat down bythe bed, frowned at the medication, and reproached, "You're this sick. Why didn't you tell me?"

Sophia looked at him with tear-filled eyes, "I didn't betray you. Do you believe me?"

Robin's gaze flickered as he wiped her tears, "I'm sorry, I was too impulsive. Coming in and seeingthat scene. I just couldn't accept it. And not just me, no man could. Forgive me?"

Sophia sobbed, "It's my fault. Please don't be mad."

"I should have known about your sickness instead of Mr. Gilder having to step in. It'd be petty of meto stay mad," Robin said with a light smile. "How are you feeling?"

"Pretty awful," Sophia replied with a slight whine in her voice.

Robin gathered the various medicine boxes, asking with a frown, "Which one do you take?"

After Sophia told him, Robin poured her a glass of water and watched her take her medicine.

"Rest up after you've taken your meds," he advised.

"Are you leaving?" Sophia asked immediately.

Robin's tone softened considerably, "No, I'll stay with you."

Sophia clutched his hand, "Are you very busy? Then just stay with me for a little while. After I fallasleep, you can go, okay?"

Seeing the girl's consideration, Robin felt a tug at his heart, "It's alright. I'm not doing anything thisafternoon. I'll stay with you."

Sophia smiled with joy. Despite her frail appearance, love brought a sparkle to her eyes.

She held onto Robin's hand tightly, reluctant to sleep, to close her eyes.

Watching her, Robin asked softly, "Sophia, did you make that call to Estelle that I asked you about?"

"Hm?" A bit confused, Sophia thought for a moment and then said apologetically, "No, I've beenasleep all morning. I forgot to call."

Robin smiled lightly, "It's okay. We can talk about it when you're feeling better."
