Chapter 1752

Chapter 1752

Emily furrowed her brows ever so slightly, unaware of these minor details.

"Today at our board meeting, we've discussed about this and decided that Shawn won't be liable for

any damages. We might as well call it quits since he helped control the situation. Also, we're going to

take full responsibility for his medical and recovery expenses."

Emily looked surprised, “Even though my father did help control the fire, he was certainly part

responsible for causing it. I won't deny that."

“Lunderstand your integrity, Ms. Sullivan. The decision was made by the upper management of our

company, so you shouldn't feel guilty. We have our reasons for doing so."

Emily hadn't expected such magnanimity from OrbitaTech Ventures. She stood up and bowed to Bard,

apologizing sincerely, "I apologize on behalf of my father to your company. I'm really sorry."

“There's absolutely no need for that!" Bard stood up in a fluster, reaching out to help the young woman

up, but hesitated to touch her, “Really, you shouldn't. We're actually grateful to Shawn for his efforts

during the fire."

Emily just thought it was Bard being polite, which made her more grateful to him, “If there's anything Inovelbin

can do in the future, please let me know."

“Sure, sure!" Bard nodded repeatedly, breaking out in a cold sweat.

Over the next week, Emily occasionally visited Shawn at the hospital.

Shawn was treated by the best doctors in the hospital and his recovery was going well, although he

was a bit depressed. After all, he felt ashamed to face Emily, especially since he wouldn't be able to

walk again.

After work on Friday, Emily received a call from Wilson, "Emily, Betty's coffee shop is opening

tomorrow. She wanted me to call and tell you that you must come!"

Emily wasn't in the mood and declined politely, "I'm a bit busy tomorrow. I've prepared a gift for Betty,

but I won't be able to make it."

Hearing the tone of Emily's voice, Wilson asked, “Is something wrong? Did you run into any trouble?"

Emily replied with a faint smile, "No."

"Then go. Betty just returned from abroad. As her closest friends, we should be there to support her.

She'll be disappointed if we don't go.’ Wilson's laughter was persuasive.

Emily thought for a moment, “Okay, I'll go tomorrow."

"I'll pick you up on the way. See you then!" Wilson laughed as he said goodbye to Emily.

After hanging up the phone, Emily went home and told Ms. Simmons that she had plans for the next

day. She asked her to look after Kya.

Ms. Simmons readily agreed, "I'll come over early in the morning. I can bring you breakfast on my way,

and I'd rather spend time with Kya than stay home alone. Go on, don't worry about it."

Emily thought that although she had been unfortunate, she was lucky to have met so many kind

people.

The next day, Wilson came by to pick up Emily to go to Betty's shop.

As soon as she got in the car, Wilson handed her a bouquet of flowers, "Happy weekend!"

Emily raised an eyebrow, “Is this another bouquet for Betty?"

“No, I bought one for Betty as well. This one's for you!" Wilson smiled politely, making it hard to refuse

his gesture.

Emily looked back and indeed, there was another bouquet of flowers.

She took the flowers a bit taken aback and smiled blandly, “Then let's give this one to Betty too, as a

gift from me."

“Sure, whatever you say!" Wilson chuckled, "Let's get moving!"

Emily was in the car with the smooth music playing. Wilson was natural, not too intimate nor distant,

making the atmosphere comfortable.

The two chatted about Betty's new shop, and then Wilson brought up the subject of Emily joining his

company.

He asked her how she had considered it.

“Lreally need your help. I want to create a unique, high-end, garden-style complex, and I believe only

you can help me achieve this!” Wilson turned to look at Emily, his gaze genial and sincere.
