Chapter 1595

Chapter 1595

Magdalen gently pushed him away, a soft smile playing on her lips. “Antonia just rang for you. I

answered.” Morrison raised an eyebrow, his expression hidden behind his gold-rimmed glasses. “What

did she want?” “She wanted you to accompany her to the charity concert this weekend, Magdalen said

casually.

“And what did you say? Morrison asked.

Magdalen smirked, “I told her we’d both go with her. We could even get some banners to cheer her on

Morrison chuckled, “Sounds good”

“Yeah, I thought so too. But she didn’t seem too thrilled and hung up rather quickly, Magdalen said, her

eyes narrowing into a playful smile. Morrison didn’t say anything in response. Instead, he murmured, “If

she doesn’t want us to show up, that’s fine. I wasn’t free anyway”

Then he leaned in to kiss Magdalen

She pushed him away again, “I haven’t freshened up yet.”

“I kissed you this moming already,” Morrison mumbled, pulling her back into bed without any further

discussion.

It rained throughout the weekend, only letting up on Monday.

In the afternoon, Charlie returned home, heading towards his apartment building when he heard

someone call out, “Mr. James!

Turning, Charlie saw an old man with white hair standing a few meters away, smiling obsequiously at

him. “Mr. James, do you remember me?”

Charlie looked at the man and it suddenly clicked. novelbin

Shawn was Emily’s father. They’d met once at The Royal Mansion where he had swindled Charlie out

of ten thousand dollars, causing Emily to lose her temper

Three years had passed, and the aging Shawn looked different. Charlie almost didn’t recognize him.

Shawn took a few respectful steps forward, “Mr. James, Im Emily’s father. We’ve met before.”

Charlie nodded, “Are you looking for Emily?”

Shawn quickly waved his hands, “No, no, I came to see you”

Charlie, ever the gracious gentleman, smiled and said, “Alright, let’s talk inside

“No, no need,” Shawn said, staring at the luxurious high-rise building. “Let’s just talk here. It won’t take

long”

Charlie instructed Kent to park the car before turning to Shawn with a warm smile. What can I do for

you?”

Shawn was deferential in his tone, “Mr. James, I know you and Emily are friends. I was hoping you

could help me find a job. I’m getting old and I have no idea what

to do”

Charlie asked, “Emily mentioned that you haven’t been in J City for a while. When did you return?”

Shawn quickly replied, “I returned almost a week ago. I’m staying with Emily for now.”

Charlie’s gaze flickered, and he nodded, “Does Emily know you’re here to see me?”

“She doesn’t. She told me not to bother you, Shawn said with an awkward laugh.

“Emily told me you used to be a chef, even a head chef at a five star restaurant. It shouldn’t be hard for

you to find work, Charlie said.

A look of embarrassment crossed Shawn’s face, “I made some mistakes in the past few years. I

borrowed money from old bosses and friends and ruined my reputation. No one wants to hire me now”

Charlie nodded slowly, “And now, you’ve decided to turn over a new leaf?”

“Yes, yes” Shawn nodded eagerly, 1 regret what I’ve done. My wife and son disowned me, and Emily

hates me. I wouldn’t have come back if I hadn’t run out of options I was hoping you could help me find

a job. I want to work hard and ear my living without causing any trouble for Emily”
