Chapter 1568

Chapter 1568

Charlie said coolly, "That's something a bud told me."

"Alright, got it,’ Mrs. James chuckled, "Off you go, don't keep your dad hanging."

"Sure thing."

Charlie reminded Kya to hang out with Mrs. James first, promising he'd be back to pick her up in a bit.

Kya nodded solemnly, "I'll stay put.’

Seeing Kya's obedient demeanor, Mrs. James was overjoyed, "Come, I'll treat you to some yummy

food, then we'll play in the garden."

Mrs. James led Kya to the banquet hall, where it was filled with high society ladies. The young ones

were either at the restaurant or attending a bonfire party in the garden.novelbin

Upon entering, the other ladies flocked towards them, "Where's this little one from?"

"She's so adorable. She's such a beauty!"

"Look at those big eyes, so lovable!"

They kept on chattering around Kya, who wasn't scared but clung tightly to Mrs. James.

Feeling Kya's dependence, Mrs. James softened, laughing, "What's so fascinating about a kid? Break it

up. Don't scare my little darling!"

Recognizing Mrs. James, one of the ladies joked, "Is this Charlie's secret love child?"

Mrs. James laughed, "If only that were true, I'd be over the moon!"

She sat down with Kya in her lap and got her some desserts. The other ladies also took a liking to this

well-behaved girl and kept giving her food to play with.

When Josiah's mother came to serve them, she was also surprised, "Whose child is this?"

Mrs. James answered, "She's Charlie's friend's kid. I'm babysitting for a bit."

Looking at the little girl eating, Flora laughed, "A friend? Is this his kid?"

Mrs. James huffed, "If he actually brought back a child, I'd be thrilled!"

Flora eyed Kya, "You know, she does look like Charlie when he was little."

"| thought the same at first!" Mrs. James took a closer look at Kya, her eyes twinkling, pondering, "I'll

have to grill him later."

Despite her words, Mrs. James thought it unlikely. Firstly, she trusted her son. Even though he liked to

enjoy life, he was always cautious and wouldn't have a child out of wedlock. Secondly, Kya looked at

least two, Charlie couldn't have had a child and kept it from her for two years.

No matter how she thought about it, it was impossible.

Still, Mrs. James felt a twinge of disappointment.

After eating, Mrs. James took Kya to play on the lawn.

A little squirrel was hiding under a tall tree. Kya spotted it and ran after it with her arms wide open.

Mrs. James followed and laughed, "Kya, stop chasing it. It might bite you!"

Kya, who loved animals, kept chasing the squirrel. When the squirrel stopped, she picked it up and

burst into laughter.

Suddenly, the squirrel turned around, showing a fierce face.

"Ah!"

Kya, frightened, started crying. She tossed the squirrel away, and ran towards Mrs. James.

Mrs. James quickly picked her up and laughed heartily, "| thought you were brave. It turns out you're a

scaredy-cat!"

Kya pouted and sobbed, "It was going to bite me!"

"Don't worry, I'm here. It won't dare to bite you!" Mrs. James saw her big eyes welling up with tears, the

pitiful look on her face was heartbreaking, “Stop crying, I'll stop it and make it apologize to you."

"Can it say sorry?" Kya asked, choking on her words.
