Chapter 1430

Jonathan instantly shot down Estelle's idea: "Don't be cooking up crazy ideas; the wedding's happening

no matter what."

"Okay, okay!" Estelle rolled her eyes at him. She took Mr. Jarvis's hand and said, "Mr. Jarvis, you don't

need to worry about my wedding. Just focus on getting better; that's the most important thing right now.

As long as you're well, I'll listen to you."

"I know my own body best; I reckon I can stick around with you guys for another thirty years or so.

Don't worry about me." Mr. Jarvis's face was filled with a warm smile.

Estelle nodded. "You better keep your promise!"

"I'll be here to hold you to that," Jonathan chimed in.

Mr. Jarvis laughed heartily.

Hearing his boisterous laughter, Estelle felt her anxiety ease.

Mr. Jarvis was recovering swiftly. By the third day, he was already out of bed, sitting in a chair, playing

chess with Jonathan.

On the fourth day, when Mr. Jarvis decided to go for a hike, Estelle stopped him at the door.

Mr. Jarvis turned to Jonathan and said seriously, "You two should head home; aren't you both

supposed to be busy?"

Jonathan simply smiled and said, "I just do as Estelle says."

"I Can't believe the CEO of the Lamont Group is whipped; you've got none of Geoffrey had back in the

day!" Mr. Jarvis grumbled.

Jonathan remained unfazed; "I can’t help it; you are too formidable. I'm more scared of you, really."

Mr. Jarvis couldn't formulate a response. That sneaky Jonathan was just like Geoffrey, always turning

the tables.

No matter the banter, as long as they could keep Mr. Jarvis at home, it was all good.

In the end, Mr. Jarvis didn't go for his hike but instead went back to his chess game with Jonathan.

Estelle sat by them, basking in the sunlight. After a while, she dozed off, resting her head on

Jonathan's lap.

Jonathan draped a blanket over Estelle, his eyes fixated on the chessboard, his hand resting on her

shoulder in a protective gesture.

Mr. Jarvis glanced at them with a hint of amusement in his eyes.

After a while, he looked worried. "Estelle's always sleeping; she's not pregnant, is she?"

Jonathan's hand, which was holding a chess piece, paused. He calmly responded, "No, both Estelle

and I are on medication for our eyes. We can't have a baby for now."

"Oh right, I totally forgot!" Mr. Jarvis exclaimed.

Jonathan stole a glance at Estelle, his gaze filled with affection. "Ella's a sleepyhead to begin with." novelbin

Mr. Jarvis waved his fan and said, "I'm feeling much better now. You should take Estelle back to J City

tomorrow."

"Estelle's worried that you won't take your medication on time if she leaves. She wants to stay a few

more days. I'm here, so you don't need to worry. There are people handling things at the company."

Jonathan put down a chess piece and continued, "Estelle wants you to come back to J City with us. We

can all live together; she can see you every day."

Mr. Jarvis immediately dismissed the idea, saying, "We've talked about this before; she knows I won't

agree."

Jonathan understood Mr. Jarvis's attachment to his hometown: "Then I could hire a few caregivers for

you. Mr. Wade is getting on in years, and his memory isn't as good as it used to be. He might overlook

some things."

Mr. Jarvis assured him, "Don't worry about me; I've found some reliable people."

"That's great!" Seeing that Mr. Jarvis had made his own arrangements, Jonathan decided not to press

further.

The afternoon sun filtered through the mahogany windows, casting a chiaroscuro of light and shadow

in the room. A large bouquet of daisies adorned a vase by the window.

Mr. Jarvis and Jonathan continued their slow-paced chess game while Estelle, resting on Jonathan's

lap, slept peacefully.

Time seemed to slow down, with a tranquil serenity enveloping the room.
