Chapter 1239

Chapter 1239

Feeling a sudden wave of exhaustion, she said, “I have got to go, the subway’s about to reach my

stop.” Emily’s voice was flat, devoid of emotion. Gina could hear the indifference in Emily’s tone. She

paused for a moment, then chuckled, “Sounds like you’ve had a long day, huh? Time to head home.”

“Mmhm,” Emily replied before hanging up.

Once off the phone, Emily’s expression softened. She didn’t blame anyone, really. It was just that her

heart was getting colder by the minute.

That night, Carson Foster organized a party at the 9th Mansion.

Charlie arrived around ten. The private room was bustling with people drinking and playing cards. He

quickly scanned the room before heading for the lounge area. Jonathan was engrossed in his phone,

completely oblivious to Charlie’s arrival.

Charlie glanced at the screen where a video was playing. The sound of two people’s conversation filled

the air.

“What else can you do besides making coffee?” novelbin

“What do you want?”

“Nothing in particular, really. How about showing me your crush? Is she prettier than me?”

‘Definitely, she’s the most beautiful robot in my eyes.”

“Talk is cheap. Bring her here and let me see!”

Recognizing Estelle’s voice, Charlie asked, “What’re you watching?”

Jonathan instantly flipped his phone over, shot Charlie a cold glance and said, “When did you get

here?”

Charlie chuckled, “You were so into it, I didn’t want to disturb you.”

Jonathan turned off his phone, lit a cigarette, and started toying with his lighter, his expression

unreadable.

Looking at the lighter in Jonathan’s hand, Charlie said, “Estelle gave you that, right? You’ve had it for

years now.”

“Mmhm,” Jonathan nodded, “Actually, it wasn’t meant for me. I pretty much took it from her.”

Nevertheless, he’d always kept it by his side.

Exhaling deeply, Charlie said, “You’ve really got me there. If you like her that much, why not pursue

her? The past is the past, what’s there to hold onto?” Inhaling deeply, Jonathan’s handsome face was

obscured by the smoke. He turned to Charlie and said lightly, “If she had to choose, would she pick me

or Manley?” Charlie hesitated, “She’d probably choose you.”

“Probably?” Jonathan’s eyes held a glacial coldness, “So Manley is more than just a friend to her.”

“That’s exactly why you should make your move. Don’t give Manley a chance,” Charlie retorted.

Jonathan pursed his lips, “I used to think that winning her back would be enough. Manley saved her life

once, so I let them be friends. I let her hang out with Manley. But when Manley showed up with her that

day, I started to panic. I’m scared that she’s harbouring feelings for Manley in some corner of her heart,

even if it’s just a tiny bit, can’t accept it.”

He could swallow his pride, but she had to be his completely!

Charlie scoffed, “That might be just what Manley is aiming for.”-

A chill flashed through Jonathan’s eyes.
