Chapter 1238

Chapter 1238

Charlie shot him a glance and warned, “Don’t tease her, she’s sensitive.”

“Protecting her, are you?” Gavin leaned in, “You serious about her?”

Charlie replied calmly. “She’s an old friend. Don’t be a bore in front of her.”

“A friend?” Gavin smirked, “Which woman has ever escaped your charms? Any female creature, even

a bird, would lose its feathers after passing you!” Charlie sneered, “How could it fly without feathers?”

As soon as he finished speaking, he realized he was sounding like Emily. He collected his thoughts and

asked seriously, “What’s up?”

“Mmm, we’re having some folks from G Country over in a few days for the Al tech upgrade,” Gavin got

straight to business, a stark contrast to his earlier demeanor. South Hospital.

After Bonnie’s uncle moved to the free ward, the Ferbers paid a special visit.

Seeing the Ferbers’ radiant smiles, the uncle’s family kept expressing their gratitude, “We thought we’d

have to wait a couple of days but didn’t expect to move this afternoon. Dr. Martin’s so capable. Should

we prepare a gift to express our thanks?”

Bonnie’s father was thrilled, “No need, we’re all family. Besides, Dr. Martin helped you because of our

connections, don’t overthink it!”

She understood, “Right, then we’ll just remember this favor!

“1

“We’re all family, no need to be so formal!” Terry said with a laugh.

The nurse who came to change the medicine overheard their conversation and made a call as soon as

she left the room, “Sherry, does Dr. Martin have a girlfriend?” The other side was surprised, “No, I was

hoping that you two would get together. How could Martin have a girlfriend?” novelbin

The nurse smiled, “Are you sure?”

She told Sherry what she had overheard in the room. Sherry was taken aback, “Nina, don’t rush, I’ll

look into it.”

“Alright, I’ll wait for your reply!” The nurse hung up, a bit upset.

That evening

Emily took the subway home and received a call from Gina on the way.

Gina sounded excited, “Emily, you’re off work, right? The Ferbers called this afternoon and said that

Bonnie’s uncle’s matter has been resolved. They even want to treat you to dinner to express their

gratitude! I didn’t want to disturb you at work, so I’m telling you now.”

Emily responded indifferently, “As long as it’s settled, no need for dinner.”

Gina didn’t notice Emily’s tone and continued cheerfully, “Mr. James is really something, solving the

problem with just one word.”

She ventured, “Emily, how did you end up having lunch with Mr. James?”

Emily frowned subconsciously and quickly said, “There were many people at lunch, including Estelle

and the others. Mr. James only helped because he knew I was in trouble.”

“Oh, I see.” Gina sounded disappointed. “Indeed, for us it was a huge challenge, but for others, it’s just

a phone call away, such a trivial matter!”

Emily said seriously, “But it’s still a favor, I need to reciprocate.”

Gina awkwardly replied, “Emily, maybe Mom went a bit overboard at noon, don’t take it to heart. You

have no idea how nasty the Ferbers were on the phone, I was just too anxious, you have to

understand.”

Emily didn’t know what to say. She was always told to understand afterwards. As if not understanding

meant she was being unreasonable and immature.

Moreover, Gina only comforted her after the Ferber issue was resolved. If it hadn’t been resolved, there

wouldn’t have been any words of understanding.
