Chapter 790 A Nice Thing to Do

"You still have other options, you can transfer to other hospitals," the director sneered.

He had taken quite a lot of bribes from the man, so he had to choose his side. All Carmen had done

was to pay the medical bills, he hadn't received a cent from him.

He knew how to make choices in front of conflict of interests.

"My friend reserved the ward, and I think you've crossed a line by driving the patient out of the ward,"

Maximilian said.

He had heard of that some doctors are unscrupulous, but he never thought he would meet one on his

own. He decided he should stand up for Carmen.

"I'm the director, and I have the final say here. You can report me if you want," the director laughed.

He was not at all afraid of being discussed or reported. He feared less when he saw Maximilian's and

Carmen's dressings.

The two people wouldn't be able to bring any trouble that might rouse his attention.

The rich young man surely knew how to leverage his financial advantage. He threatened Maximilian

and Carmen, "I'll give you 10 thousand yuan. You two should leave here now, and I promise you'll

suffer if you continue to make a scene here."

Carmen gritted his teeth upon hearing that, but he had no other options. He checked his watch and

found he still had time. As a child who grew up in a poor family, he knew he should never stand against

the rich. All he could do was submit to the humiliation and walk away.

"It's too late to transfer to another hospital," Maximilian frowned and said.

Carmen sighed, "Then what we should do? There's no ward available in the hospital now."

Maximilian shared Carmen's feelings. As Carmen's friend, he felt obliged to help him. He patted his

shoulder and said, "Don't worry, I won't let anything bad happen."

He had asked Connor for help. This hospital was affiliated to the Doyle Group. So Connor told Damen

Doyle about this.

Damen felt so aggrieved when he heard the news. Somebody just bullied Maximilian's friend, and that

was not something he would let happen.

"I've already called your hospital president. If you don't give us the ward now, I'm afraid you'll lose your

job," Maximilian was trying to warn the director for the last time.

"Are you trying to threaten me? Who do you think you are? Do you even have Mr. Doyle's number? I

think you've lost your mind," the director snorted.

He reacted as if he had heard the funnest joke. He had been used to threaten other people, and this is

almost the first time he had been threatened.

He thought Maximilian was a fool. He would not be fooled by a fool's trick.

Maximilian didn't respond. He took Carmen's arms and told him to stay here.novelbin

Carmen was now in a dilemma. If he transferred his mother to another hospital, maybe she still stood a

chance to get an operation and survive, but the transferring process will take half a day.

He knew his mother was in a serious condition now. She only had a few days left when they received

the critically ill notice from the hospital.

He didn't know if he should do as Maximilian said. If Maximilian really had a connection with the

president, there would be no need to transfer.

The rich young man curled his lips at Maximilian and said, "Director, he's talking nonsense and thinking

too highly of himself."

The director touched his beard, looking at Maximilian and Carmen, and then he said to the rich young

man, "Mr. Gold, I share your feelings."

The director had nothing to fear with the support from Rory Gold.

Carmen was very worried. He didn't want to suffer the consequences of offending one of the richest

guys and one of the best doctors in this city.

The director squinted his eyes and said, "If you don't leave and keep making a mess here, I'll tell all the

hospitals in the city not to accept you."

He was exaggerating, but he surely had the resources. Maximilian and Carmen are ordinary people, he

could solve the problem just by giving his peers some money.

Carmen was even more flustered when he heard that. He still had a chance to transfer to another

hospital just now, but the director just black-listed them. He didn't know what to do if other hospitals

refused to take in his mother, too.

"Maybe we should stop. This is about my mother's life and I need to think more carefully," Carmen

thought that Maximilian was making a mess. He forced a smile and apologized, "My friend is a very

blunt and straightforward man. Please forgive him. I apologize."

"It's too late," the director said arrogantly.

He no longer had much patience to stand against the two poor bastards. It was a waste of time for him.

Being threatened by Maximilian had made him even more upset.

Just by then, the director's phone rang. When he saw the name on it, his eyes lit up and he answered it

with a smile.

"President Doyle! To what do I owe this pleasure? I feel so glad to hear from you!"

"Pleasure? Glad? I'm as glad to tell you the good news."

Damen laughed bitterly. The man had put him in big trouble.

"Really? Is it about my promotion?"

The director felt thrilled again when he heard the news. This would be more than great if it was about

his promotion. He was so excited that he ignored Damen's cold tone.

"Of course not, you fool! It's way better... you are fired!"

"What? I'm fired?"

The director fell from heaven to hell within just a few seconds. He felt as if he had been splashed with

cold water. The excitement was all gone. He couldn't believe what he just heard, and his facial muscle

was trembling.

This was the first time he received a call from the president, but it was bad news.

He didn't understand because he couldn't recall what he had done wrong. He took bribes from time to

time, and he had hit on the nurse a few times, but he didn't think those things were big enough to rouse

the president's attention.

"President Doyle, please don't make jokes on me. I have a weak heart."

"I'm not joking. You abused your right and forced a patient out of her room. You took bribes from the

patient. You really think I don't know that?"

"Well..."

The director gasped upon hearing what Damen said. He looked at Maximilian with furious eyes

because he was sure Maximilian just told him on President Doyle.

He knew President Doyle was an upright doctor who hated bribes and abuse of rights. He was so mad

because Maximilian just ruined his career.

"Are you getting a promotion? Congratulations!" The young man instantly congratulated him because

he didn't hear what exactly they were talking about.
