Victoria nodded, “Yes, of course.”
“Ok.” Maximilian answered, then headed upstairs.
He needed a clear answer from the Bates family. Otherwise, there would be some troubles in the
banquet.
After he got to the study, he did not make the call immediately.
Instead, he drew several lines on the board, and then wrote a few names on it.
The first name was his, written in the middle. The other one outside of those lines was ‘Head of dragon
lords.’ On top of his name was Dragon Queen, who was already on the opposite side of him.
If it were not for the vague attitude of the Head of dragon lords, Maximilian was probably dead already.
He must have a clear understanding about his position and resources now.
What was below him was Andrew, who hated him a lot and might cause trouble for him.
Hackett was on the left. As Dragon Queen’s man, he would definitely do something on the event.
It was still a blank on the right side.
According to Dragon Queen’s meticulous habit, just having Hackett was not enough. What Maximilian
was considering now was what he should do with new people sent by Dragon Queen.
After staring at the board for a while, Maximilian drew a circle on the head of dragon lords.
“I have to visit the head of dragon lords. If his attitude is still not clear, there will still be problems even
with the help of Richardson family. Even though there is no perfect plan, I have to try to make it as
good as possible!” Maximilian thought to himself, and his eyes turned cold.

After a long silence, Maximilian took out his phone, and called Lane.
Soon, the call was picked up, as a flattering voice sounded, “Maximilian, what happened? Why do you
call me today?”
“Lane, I need to talk about something serious with you.” Maximilian said calmly.
Lane felt there was something wrong with Maximilian’s tone, so he turned serious as well.
“Maximilian, just say whatever you need. As long as I can help, the Bates will try the best.” Lane said
seriously.
His daughter got lots of benefits from Maximilian recently, which helped the Bates family gain more
fame and profits.
It made him feel sure that as long as Maximilian was willing, the Bates family could even do better.
“Do you know I’m hosting a banquet?” Maximilian said calmly.
“I know. We will treat it seriously. We have already prepared some good presents for you.” Lane said
with a smile.
“Thank you, but what I’m talking about is something else.” Maximilian sighed.
If he told Lane his situation now, Lane would probably choose not to help him, but if he did not help
him, then the Bates would not end up well.
As long as Maximilian went through this problem, the Bates would never fall!
“I’m listening.” Lane sensed there was something off, knowing that it might be related to his life and
family.
“You probably don’t know about my situation now, so let me explain to you simply.” Maximilian said
calmly, “Currently, I am facing lots of threats, and something might happen on the event.”
He continued, “Besides, these messes might not be easy to deal with, so I need your help. If you help
me, it may bring some risks for you, and those people might destroy your family. However, if I can get
through this problem, the Bates family could get much more influential in the future.”
“Therefore, I need a clear answer from you.”
The other side of the phone turned silent. Lane lowered his head and started thinking, as a wise light
flashing through his eyes.
It was risky to get any gain, but what Maximilian said was too risky.
Besides, judging from Maximilian’s tone, the risk would be way more serious than his family getting

After a few minutes, Lane said firmly, “Maximilian, just tell me if you need any help. As long as I could
do it, I will help you.”
Maximilian smiled. He was right about Lane, and he deserved his trust.
“It won’t be too complicated. I just need your resources and men to search those who are suspicious in
the entrance. I’ll have other people deal with the rest.”
Lane paused. He thought Maximilian was going to borrow money from them, but he was just borrowing
some resources.
Personnel would not be a big deal for other families. For the most, it would just be a favor for him.
However, for a family like Bates, owing a favor was not a problem.
“Sure, no problem.” Lane smiled.
As long as it would not cause any problem to their financial chains, Lane could help him.
If it were about money, Maximilian had to return it in a short time, and the Bates would not collapse
soon.
“I will tell you in detail then.” Maximilian smiled.
After they talked for a while, Maximilian hung up the call, and wrote down ‘Bates’ on the board
smilingly.
Soon, he started considering other things, and did not go downstairs until noon.
Laura asked him right after he came downstairs, “How about your preparation for the banquet?”
