Chapter 1973: The Nursery

Chapter 1973: The Nursery

In the midst of idle chatter, Anderson and Alisha arrived together. Alisha couldn't contain herexcitement and pushed open the door, bouncing into the room.

"Mommy, you're finally awake," she exclaimed. She had already heard from the nurse outside thather mommy had woken up, which filled her with extreme joy. So, as soon as she entered the room, she made a beeline for the bed. Just as she reached the bed, Luther gently lifted Alisha up andasked softly, "Is it okay if I bring you to mommy's bed?"novelbin

"Yes," Alisha happily danced in his arms. Joyce opened her arms, and Luther handed Alisha to her. After spending some time together, as Alisha began to forget the memories of before, there were nolonger any barriers between her and Alisha, and the mother-daughter bond became very close.

Joyce was overjoyed, stroking Alisha's hair as she asked, "Hmm. Mommy has been sleeping for along time. Was Alisha good while mommy was sleeping?" Alisha nodded vigorously, saying, "I wasvery good, except for not going to school these two days. I've been obedient the whole time, comingto see mommy every day." Joyce chuckled, "So good. When mommy is discharged, we'll playtogether."

At this moment, Anderson stood at the side, a hint of worry in his expression.

"Mommy, how are you feeling? Are you okay?" He didn't believe the nonsense that postpartummothers needed to sleep. His mommy had been in a coma after giving birth, and his daddy hadbeen by her side day and night. Despite his worries, he dared not show them, so as not to affect theemotions of others, especially Alisha, who didn't understand. Mommy and daddy were both in thehospital, and although grandma had rushed over, she also spent most of her time at the hospital. He had to take care of his little sister. It was his responsibility as a big brother. Joyce, feeling for

him, pulled Anderson to her side. "Mommy is fine. The doctor just came and did a completecheckup on mommy. Don't worry."

Anderson's tense little face finally relaxed, and he flashed a smile. Cecelia then suggested, "Nowthat everyone is here, let's go to the nursery to see the babies." "Yes! I want to see my littlebrothers!" Alisha, upon hearing this, was the most delighted and promptly wriggled out of Joyce'sembrace. Joyce also stood up, supporting the two children on either side. "Let's go."

Leaving the ward, guided by a nurse, they arrived at the designated nursery. The hospital had setaside a separate room for them, spacious and bright, with two large incubators inside, separatedfrom other babies who needed temporary care. Four nurses were taking care of the children in thenursery. Joyce walked in, and the nurses respectfully nodded to her.

She approached the incubators slowly, trying not to make any loud noises that might startle thebabies. As she drew closer, her heart beat faster, unable to contain her excitement. Looking at thetwo babies lying in the incubators, she felt her heart melting. They were small, with round faces androsy cheeks, sleeping soundly. Their eyes were tightly shut, like two lines.

Their eyebrows curved like two crescent moons, and their mouths formed a smiling curve. Theyseemed to be dreaming of something good. Luther came up behind Joyce, lightly placing his handson her shoulders. "The one on the left is Wilson, the older brother, and the one on the right isCullen, the younger brother. As we agreed before, I have already chosen their names."

Joyce nodded, her gaze gentle, carefully examining the children and unable to look away. "Theylook so alike, almost identical. How will we differentiate them, the brothers?" Alisha, now leaningagainst the glass of the incubator, observed as well. "They are really tiny, almost the size of my doll. When will they grow up?" Joyce gently touched Alisha as she said, "Look closely, the brothers havesome differences. Wilson has a different earlobe from Cullen. Wilson has a red birthmark on hisearlobe." Cecelia, too, smiled and commented, "Alisha, don't worry, the brothers will grow up soon."

Alisha, fascinated, exclaimed, "Really, mommy, the brothers' ears are really different. Now I can tellthem apart!"

Anderson was also curious and looked at the brothers in the incubator. "How long do they have tostay in there? When can they come home with us?" Luther replied, "A little over a week, and thenthey'll be able to go home."

The nurse then approached and reassured, "Mr. Warner, we have already fed the babies a milk.Currently, they are in stable condition. Please don't worry. We will take good care of them." Luthernodded. "But I really want to hold them," Alisha pouted, looking disappointed.

"I can feed the babies milk when they come home." Anderson, speechless, explained, "They are nottoys. Feeding them is not as simple as you think, just sticking a bottle in their mouth. They couldchoke." "Oh," Alisha said, somewhat dejected. Cecelia comforted her, "When the brothers comehome, I can hold you and help you feed them. How about that?"

"Okay, that's great!" Alisha's face lit up with happiness. Joyce looked longingly at the babies in theincubator. She wanted to hold them as well, but being born early, it was safer for the babies to stayin the incubator to avoid infection. Understanding her thoughts, Luther held her shoulder, comfortingher, "We will come to see them every day, once in the morning and once in the evening."

Joyce nodded. "Mommy, quick, look, the brother has opened his eyes!" Suddenly, Andersonexclaimed with excitement. Everyone quickly followed Anderson's finger and looked over. It wasWilson, slowly opening his eyes and looking towards the outside of the incubator.

"Wow, mommy, the brother is looking at me! He's looking at me!" Alisha shouted in excitement."Shh, keep your voice down," Anderson quickly cautioned, "Don't startle the baby. Although heopened his eyes, his visual and nervous systems are not yet developed. He may not be able to seeyou. He is just looking in our direction."

"Okay," Alisha accepted the new knowledge with a nod, acknowledging that her brother was right.Joyce's heart softened even more as she looked at her two sons through the incubator, a smileunconsciously playing on her lips. The nursery was filled with endless warmth.
