Chapter 538 He Has Changed

Chapter 538 He Has Changed

Hearing her question, Cedrick calmly provided the reply he had prepared. “You were too tired last night

and fell asleep in the resting room in your office. I went to Harris Group in search of you and brought

you back home.”

Gwendolyn was surprised to hear that. “Did I sleep until now?”

Cedrick chuckled aloud and tapped her nose affectionately. “Yes, you lazy little piggy. You slept for over

ten hours.”

No wonder I'm having a splitting headache. It turns out I've slept for that long.

She let out a playful giggle. “Well, in that case, I should definitely head to work at Harris Group. I could

use the exercise of walking around. It's strange, though. I've slept for so long, but I don't feel hungry at

all.”

Recognizing her determination, Cedrick didn't attempt to change her mind. “If you feel unwell, make

sure to give me a call. Why don't you leave work half an hour early? I want to prepare something

delicious for our first candlelight dinner upon our return to the country. It'll be a chance for us to have

some quality time alone. I'll come to pick you up at work later.”

“Okay,” Gwendolyn agreed readily.

She didn't notice he was insinuating something else by saying “quality time alone.”

After her headache was relieved, Gwendolyn regained her energy and could get off the bed to wash

herself up.

By the time she finished washing up and putting on makeup, her headache had mostly subsided.

Cedrick sat by the edge of the bed, observing her condition discreetly. “It's still early. I prepared some

oatmeal with spinach. Why don't you have some before leaving?”

Gwendolyn shook her head in response. “I don't have any appetite at the moment, so I'm not hungry.

Maybe I'll feel hungry later after I've walked for a while. I think I'll just grab something to eat outside.”

“Then I'll drive you to work.”

Cedrick got up and held her hand, intertwining his fingers with hers. Without hesitation, he led her out

of the house.

As he willingly became her driver, Gwendolyn didn't resist, allowing him to drive the car.

That afternoon, Gwendolyn finally signed the contract with the person in charge from Dovil Group.

“Ms. Harris, here's to a successful collaboration.”

Gwendolyn shook the lady's hand warmly. “Likewise.”

It was evening by the time she finally concluded the contract signing. The room was bathed in the

warm glow of the setting sun, which cast a golden hue across the space.

Gwendolyn's gaze wandered to the window, where she caught sight of the breathtaking sunset. At that

moment, she remembered Cedrick's words from earlier in the day.

She glanced at the clock and realized there were thirty minutes till six.

I gave him my word, so I shouldn't disappoint him.

Gwendolyn left the remaining matters to her assistant. After packing up her stuff, she took the elevator

to the garage.

She was about to call Cedrick when she spotted his car parked not far away.

To her surprise, she went to the car and saw Cedrick inside.

Upon spotting her, Cedrick got out of the car and went to the passenger side to open the door for her.

He didn't forget to fasten her seatbelt after she entered the vehicle.

He was as thoughtful as ever.

When he bent down, Gwendolyn took the chance to give him a quick peck on the lips. “If there's an

award for the best husband, you'll definitely win it.”

Cedrick lifted her chin and deepened the kiss.

“You'll win the best wife award, then.”

Gwendolyn's face lit up with a delighted grin, reflecting the contentment she felt in their harmonious

married life.

On the way back to Harrick Villa, Gwendolyn stared at the constantly changing scenery outside the

window and spaced out.

Cedrick would often turn around to observe her condition. He seemed relieved to see that her

composure was intact.

As the car came to a halt at the red light, Gwendolyn's gaze was drawn to a young mother pushing a

baby stroller along the sidewalk. In that moment, a subtle twinge of longing tugged at her heart.

“Ceddy, when our children grow up, let's take them for a stroll, each in their own stroller. It would be

such a joyful experience.”

Cedrick agreed, “The children would love it.”

As Gwendolyn fixed her gaze on the young mother and her baby, she suddenly missed her own

children.

“I just left Harrick Villa this afternoon, so it's only been a few hours since I last saw the babies, but I

already miss them.”

Cedrick tensed up. “Darling, let's not talk about the kids today. We'll spend some quality time home

alone and enjoy a candlelight dinner together, okay?”

Gwendolyn shot him a puzzled look. Deep down, she felt displeased but didn't say anything else.

Around ten minutes later, the car rolled to a stop at the Jenson residence's garage.

Cedrick parked the car and got out. He then went to the passenger side to open the door for her.

Bending down, he carried her in his arms.

Gwendolyn wrapped her arms around his neck. “Why are you so nice tonight? Is it because you want

to have sex later?”

Cedrick pressed his lips into a tight smile. “No. Before you recover from the concussion completely, I

will not have sex with you until you regain your health.”

“Oh? You're sensible, huh?” Gwendolyn gave him a dubious look. “Hubby, you're so fond of sex. I can't

believe you'll say no to it.”

Cedrick gave her a soft kiss on the lips. “Nothing is more important than your health, Gwenny.”

Leaning closer, she whispered coyly in his ear, “But I'm almost recovered. My concussion won't affect

our having sex. Ceddy, are you sure you don't want to have some fun?”

Her hot breath fanned his sensitive earlobe, causing him to tremble involuntarily.

He gulped silently, but his face remained devoid of expression as he strode forward.

Gwendolyn playfully tugged at his tie and teased, “We're having a candlelight dinner tonight. Are you

sure you don't want to have sex later?”

Cedrick gave a curt nod. “Darling, stop teasing me. You know I can't resist your charms, right?”

Fine, then.

Gwendolyn retracted her hand unwillingly and stuffed his tie back into his suit jacket. She remained in

his arms silently, allowing him to bring her into the house.

After Cedrick placed her on the couch, he prepared fruits and snacks for her. “I've prepared the

ingredients needed for dinner, so it won't take long for me to cook them. Darling, sit here and wait for

me. Don't go anywhere else, okay?”

Gwendolyn nodded, finding his actions weird.

Why doesn't he want me to leave the couch? This is strange.

Recalling her babies on the fourth floor, Gwendolyn made a spontaneous decision to go upstairs and

play with them while Cedrick was busy cooking. S

She swung open the door to the nursery, expecting to see her little ones and Zoey. However, to her

shock, the bed was empty, and there was no sign of the babies or Zoey anywhere in the room.novelbin

Gwendolyn's eyes widened in fear as she scanned the empty space, her mind racing with thoughts.

Panic gripped her heart, overriding her rationality. Without wasting a second, she sprinted downstairs

and hurried toward the kitchen, hoping to find answers.

“Hubby, Benny and Zendy are gone. Something must've happened to them!” she exclaimed.

Cedrick stopped cooking and let out a silent sigh. I can't believe she discovered that so soon. Indeed,Gwenny is as smart as usual.

Gwendolyn was on the verge of breaking down, so he held her shoulders and explained calmly, “The

babies are fine. They didn't disappear, so don't be afraid.”

“How do you know? Did you hide them away?” Her chest heaved as she stared at him incredulously.

“Cedrick, did you send them away so we can have some time alone? What are you up to?”

Cedrick placed a comforting hand on Gwendolyn's back, gently soothing her and easing her agitation.

“Grandpa wants to meet Benny and Zendy. Due to his age and limited mobility, it's challenging for him

to travel the distance between Harrick Villa and his own residence, which is quite large. So, I arranged

for Benny and Zendy, along with Mdm. Yarde, to stay with him for a few days. This way, he can spend

quality time with the babies. Please don't worry. I've assigned additional bodyguards to ensure their

safety and security at Grandpa's villa. Rest assured, Benny and Zendy are in good hands. Just take a

deep breath and calm down.”

Hearing his explanation, Gwendolyn gradually regained her composure.

It seemed reasonable for the elderly man to miss his grandchildren, and she didn't want to disrupt their

time together.

While she acknowledged that it wasn't a significant issue and she couldn't simply rush to his villa to

retrieve the children, there was an underlying sense that something was amiss.

“Did you really send the kids and Mdm. Yarde there because Grandpa misses them?”

Cedrick kissed her forehead gently. “Yes. They will be back in a few days, so don't worry.”

Hearing that, Gwendolyn stopped protesting.

“Hurry up. I'm starving,” she urged.

She offered him a hand in the kitchen, and dinner was soon served.

They had a relaxing and joyful candlelight dinner together.

After dinner, they nestled on the couch and watched a movie together.

Cedrick kept sneaking glances at her and relaxed when he saw that there were no signs of an

upcoming outburst.

According to Joshua, her manic episodes are likely to resurface when she's too tired. I'll take good careof her and make sure she doesn't get too tired. That will work to reduce her episodes.

Halfway through the movie, Gwendolyn fell asleep on his shoulder.

Cedrick barely got any sleep last night and had to wake up early in the morning to make the

arrangements. Hence, he felt the weight of weariness settle upon him.

Switching off the TV, he carried her back to the bedroom. Patiently, he got a wet towel to wipe her face

and wash her feet before changing her clothes.

Gwendolyn remained blissfully asleep and didn't stir at all.

Half an hour later, he settled into bed and wrapped his arms around her.

However...

Slap!

He was half asleep when a stinging sensation on his cheek jolted him awake.
