Chapter 1776

She could tell at first glance that he was paying attention to their conversation, yet he didn't want tosay anything out of his ego.

Maria was nervous. Couldn't Ernest be more proactive for once?

"You noticed I lost weight. Yes, I am indeed on a diet. Do you remember I used to have baby fat?Now that my face is much slimmer, don't I look prettier?" Leah asked.

"I think you've lost at least a dozen pounds, am I right?" Maria asked as she observed closer.

"I've lost 13 pounds. It's a successful diet, isn't it?" Leah was proud of her result.

"I don't think that's the case. It's more likely that you're emotionally hurt and you lost your appetitedue to that," Maria refuted.

"You make me sound like a cancer patient," Leah complained, "How can I be hurt when I am thistough?"

"Fine, you are not hurt," Maria said, "You're just slightly wounded." "That sounds better." Leahchuckled. "Anyway, Maria, dear, if there's nothing else then let's stop here for today. My friends arewaiting for me."

"Don't hang up now. I have something to ask you." Maria didn't want Leah to hang up on her, as shedidn't know when she could get in touch with her again.

Leah had no choice but to stay on the line. "Just ask then, don't beat around the bush. I'm reallybusy over here."

Leah had always been straightforward. She would tend to keep her words brief and clear.

Ernest was even more troubled to hear Leah's voice after so long.

He got reminded of the two days during Christmas. It was like a dream. He didn't even know why hedidn't choose to apologize to Leah.

Now, it seemed like Leah had finally moved on, yet Maria pointed out that she had lost 13 pounds.

Ernest was upset to hear this. He felt guilty.

He felt pain in his chest. His breathing grew heavy as his emotions were surging within.

At this time, he heard Maria say to Leah, "Honey, there's something I have to tell you."

However, it was as if Leah already knew what Maria was about to say. She interrupted, "If this isabout a certain someone, then you should just stop right here. Don't tell me anything about him. Ifit's about something else, then just spill it already."

Maria was startled to hear this.

She couldn't help but shake it off with a laugh. She said, "How unfortunate. This is indeed about thatcertain someone. He has lost at least a dozen pounds too. You two are just so in sync to be losingweight at the same time. It's clear that you two are still not over each other."

"Maria, I told you to not tell me anything about him. I don't care if he has lost weight or not. It's noneof my business." Leah's tone sounded neutral, as if she wasn't bothered at all.

"But he's regretting it. He told me himself. He is clueless about making you mad. Don't you thinkthat it's a pity to just break up like that after going through so much together?" Maria asked.

Upon hearing this, Leah laughed. She sneered, "I did feel wronged, but I don't anymore. After all, Iwas his first. I doubt he will be able to get over me."

It had been a long time since Leah said something along this line. She was always catching peopleoff guard with her words.

This was exactly who Leah was.

She was unpredictable.

Maria was startled upon hearing that. She then burst into laughter. "This is so you, Leah."

"I know.=," Leah nodded. "Why did he lose so much weight anyway? Is it because he missesCeleste too much?"

Ernest felt helpless to hear this.

Since when was he so emotionally involved with Celeste?

"You misunderstood that. He's only like this because of you," Maria said.

"As if I'd trust you," Leah retorted, "He wouldn't have told me those words if he was really that inlove with me."

"What did he tell you?" Maria asked.

"Forget it, I don't want to talk about it." Leah sounded upset. "Anyway, I've decided to stop caring forhim."

"Can you tell me why you are in such a hurry to end things with him?" Maria asked.

"I should get out while it's getting better," Leah said, "I'm mad at him so I decided to let him knowthat getting dumped is as terrible as being lied to in a relationship."

"You're mad at him?" Maria asked.

"I didn't break up with him just because I was mad," Leah said, "It makes me feel better to think thathe will always be hung up on me."

Ernest gasped. She was right.

He would never be able to get over Leah.

As she had played such an important role in his life.

He had no intention of getting over Leah either. He was planning to make Leah his woman.

He wanted to keep her by his side for the rest of his life.

They were both each other's firsts.

"You're really serious about this. Anyway, who's that guy behind you?" Maria asked randomly. Sheleaned towards the screen as she carefully observed the guy behind Leah.

Leah turned around and said, "Are you talking about him? He's my classmate. We are having agathering today. Come here and introduce yourself."

"Hi there, gorgeous." the man greeted.

"Hello." Maria was startled and quickly greeted him.

"I'll leave you two to it," the man said, "Leah, don't take too long, we are all waiting for you."

"Got it." Leah nodded.

After a while, the guy left.

"Who is that? He's handsome and tall!" Maria couldn't help but sound a little jealous. "Leah, don'ttell me you're really dumping my cousin."

"Ernest told me himself that he wouldn't be looking for me again. You can check with him on this,"Leah said, "Why can't I see someone else after ending things with him?"

"Leah, I'm asking you a genuine question. Can't you be honest with me? I already told you he'sregretting this," Maria said.

"I'm not hiding anything from you. I already told you to stop talking about him," Leah frowned. "Myhead aches whenever I talk about Ernest. I don't want to talk about him anymore. I've decided tomove on and I meant my words. Why are you always bringing him up?"

Hearing how determined Leah was, Maria started sympathizing with Ernest. She couldn't help buttake a glance at him.

Ernest already stood up from the sofa and he was walking towards Maria.

Soon after, he took Maria's phone away from her and looked into the camera.

Leah was still wondering why the camera angle suddenly changed, and then in the next second, she saw Ernest's handsome features.novelbin

She was startled. She couldn't believe Ernest was looking at her. She was surprised, yet sheregained her composure quickly. It was a skill she learned from studying law. She smiled at Ernestand said, "Hi, Ernest."

Ernest looked at Leah and said, "I heard what you said just now."

Leah's heart skipped a beat, yet she was still smiling. "And what about it?"
