Chapter 1771

Leah had spent more than an hour reading through the draft that her editor had sent to her. She read it very carefully.

At first, she had only started to read it because she was slightly curious. However, she found herself getting more and more immersed in the plot line as she read.

She felt that the person who wrote this had full comprehension of the characters she built in her books.

She was honestly surprised.

She had to admit that this person's writing had captivated her.

Her initial reasoning to kill off the female lead suddenly made no sense to her.

However, the writer who resumed her story had explained the character's death away by writing that the character had actually faked her death. The plot line had made her go through a rollercoaster of emotions.

Leah could not help herself from getting drawn in.

The following plot was based completely on the existing settings, and the writer had managed to add on to it.

Perhaps it was the way the writer described scenes with a sense of grandeur. It was clear that whoever that was writing must be male.

However, Leah thought that there was a possibility that they were a girl as well. Perhaps it was a girl who was tough and mentally strong.

In the end, Leah was very satisfied with how the continuation turned out.

Leah thought that even if she were to be the one writing it, she might not be able to achieve such a bombastic effect. She honestly felt that she was unable to continue writing the book.

With the way she was feeling these days, she was not in the mood to write anything. She was quite fond of this other person's writing.

After she finished reading the chapter, Leah let out a long sigh.

Just as she was about to call the editor, Victoria herself called her.

Leah could not help but laugh. It seemed that the editor was overly excited to hear her reaction.

The anonymous writer had a good writing style. They were good at hooking the readers in, so the editor couldn't help herself from excitedly calling Leah to ask about her opinion several times.

Leah looked forward to the rest of the anonymous writer's work.

Right after Leah picked up the phone, the editor started to speak excitedly, "Reaper, have you read it? What do you think of the content? It's really good, isn't it?"

Leah did not hide her thoughts. "Since you seem so hyped for the writer, there's no way that the content falls short. Honestly, I told you that if you think it's good, just go right ahead and publish it. I think that this piece is a much better read than my own works. I think you've hit the jackpot. You should really get that person into your company. Let them write my book. With this person's talent, I can tell that the book will be a great one."

"I knew that you would think the same! To be honest, I thought that you might say that about who I chose."

"Hey, I'm not picky! I really easygoing, alright?" Leah retorted.

"That's bullshit," The editor was close to Leah. They had been working alongside each other for many years, so they were prone to good-natured ribbing. "You're the pickiest woman I've ever met."

"Hey! You'd better watch your mouth," Leah said, mildly annoyed.

"Why should I?!" The editor retorted,"I gave you time to think about the book's continuation but you ended up giving me nothing! How am I supposed to praise your writing? I honestly despise you."

"Alright then, despise me all you like." Leah thought that it was the editor's right to feel that way.

However, it wasn't fun to be despised.

"Your fans despise you too," Victoria added.

Leah was rendered speechless for a moment. "Alright, let's get back to the main topic. I believe that this anonymous writer will be able to attract many fans. I honestly don't want the credit and pay for their work. It's their work, so rightfully, they should be paid."

Leah did not want to be rewarded for doing nothing. She did not want to take something that did not belong to her in the first place.

"You're mad! I can't believe you're rejecting free money."

"It wasn't mine to begin with."

The writer already said that they didn't want the money. They idolize you too much to take it. Besides, it could be that they don't really need the money. Honestly, are you crazy? You should just take the money," Victoria persuaded Leah.

"No, I don't need it. I don't feel comfortable accepting it. Besides, I've already gotten paid for the first half of the book. As for the remaining chapters that they're going to write, please pay them accordingly. Just pay me the remaining balance of my cut. That way, I'll be fair," Leah said.

"Well, aren't you curious about them? What if they just want to owe them a favor or something? Maybe you guys should chat and discuss it."

"I don't have time to chat with them. Besides, aren't you the one who's suppose to owe them a favor? I've already written what I was contracted to. You're the one who was dissatisfied with my work and kept insisting on making me write the rest. Since I didn't cater to your request, you had to find someone else."

"Reaper, you're honestly too much. The company hasn't given you any crap for the bad ending you wrote last time because we were being courteous and yet you're here trying to blame everything on us. You really don't suffer from any losses, do you? You know that you don't want the money." Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org

"It wouldn't be right for me to take the money from them. It's their work after all." Leah did not want to take credit for work that wasn't hers.

"Alright, I'll tell them later."

"Send the rest of the chapter to me as well. I want to see how the story goes. Now that they've managed to hook me in, I want to continue reading it." Leah took the opportunity to ask the editor for the rest of the chapter.

She honestly thought that the editor would send it to her. However, the editor's reply to her request was wholly unexpected. With a smile, Victoria replied,"You can just wait for the new chapter to be released online. If I send it to you now, you won't have anything to look forward to later on."

"Come on! You can't just show me parts of it then leave me hanging! The part you sent me ended with a cliffhanger!" Leah complained.

"Oh? Have you finally gotten a taste of your own medicine?" The editor retorted.

Leah was stunned by that.

"This is what you did to your readers. After that mess of an ending, your readers were left unsatisfied, but you didn't care about them, did you? Seems like you're finally feeling the same as they did before. I think you deserve this." The editor smiled triumphantly.

The editor was mocking Leah. Leah was rendered speechless for a short moment. Eventually, she let out an embarrassed laugh and said, "Stop teasing me already."

"Sorry, but I honestly need you to understand that karma is real," the editor said.

"Alright, I'll admit that I was wrong. Can you please forgive me? Gosh, you're killing me here."

"It'd be a huge relief if you were actually dead. You make my blood boil sometimes." The editor sighed as she joked.novelbin

"Yeah, I'm angry with myself sometimes too." Leah sighed, but felt helpless. "Are you really going to punish me by making me wait for the rest of the content?"

"Yes, I am. I'm not planning to send the rest to you no matter how much you beg."

"Alright then, I suppose you don't have to send it to me. I'll just wait for it to be published online in a few days." Leah did not worry too much about it. She was going to feel just how her readers felt. She even thought that it might be a nice experience to wait for her favorite authors to post new chapters. She figured that it was going to be a unique experience. Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org

Soon, the editor hung up the phone and did not continue the tease with Leah. It seemed that everything had fallen into place.

In the evening, Leah found that the new chapter was not yet posted. There was a new message posted by the Reaper's account on the message board on the website. The message informed everyone that the next chapter would be uploaded a little later on. It was a courtesy provided to Reaper's hardcore fans.

Leah asked in surprise, "What? Is that person a fool? Why don't they want the money?"

"I wonder who the real fool between the two of you is," the editor asked.

Leah, feeling ridiculed, replied "Alright, I'll admit to it. It's me. Are you happy now?"

"Honestly, I think both of you are a pair of fools. Neither of you want the money. Furthermore, you guys don't even want to communicate with each other. You're both so weird."
