Chapter 1623

Liam talked with his future father-in-law, Zachary, for a long time. Zachary did not make thingsdifficult for him, which made him feel relieved.

At the same time, he could really feel the level of kindness and tolerance of the Lowe family. Theyreally accepted him.

What he once thought would be difficult ended up being unexpectedly easy.

When Liam and Zachary were done talking, Zachary told him, "Why don't you go downstairs first? Ifwe continue to stay here, Maria will definitely be worried about you."

Liam stood up and nodded respectfully. "Okay, Mr. Lowe. I'll head downstairs now."

"Go ahead," Zachary replied.

In the living room, Maria was worried. She kept looking in the direction of the second floor, but therewere no signs of Liam coming down the stairs.

Yvonne and Nerissa shook their heads when they saw her like that.

Yvonne said, "Maria, your father won't eat your boyfriend. Are you really that worried?"

"Of course. After all, this is his first time coming to our house," Maria answered.

"You should have confidence in him." Yvonne could clearly tell that Maria's heart and mind werecompletely focused on Liam. "You treat him so well and with so much passion too. It seems like youlike him way more."

Maria nodded, not afraid to admit it. "Yes, I do like him. I like him so much that I'd do anything forhim."

Nerissa also nodded. Then, she asked with a smile, "Maria, I didn't see you bring in your luggage.Where is it?"

"My luggage?" Maria suddenly remembered that all her luggage was at Liam's apartment. She hadnot brought it over.

She looked at Nerissa and Yvonne. Then, she asked hesitantly, "Tonight, can I?"

She did not go on, but Nerissa and Yvonne understood. They had once been in her shoes, thusthey naturally understood Maria's thoughts.

However, Yvonne pretended not to understand her and asked, "Can you what? I'll get the butler totidy up your room later."

Upon hearing this, Maria suddenly felt embarrassed. It seemed that she had to stay home thatnight.

Seeing Maria pout with an aggrieved expression, Yvonne asked, "What's wrong? Why does it looklike you don't want to stay at home?"

"What's so great about staying at home?" Maria asked bluntly. "Liam is the reason I came back thistime. I want to be with him. Can I go back with Liam tonight?"

Yvonne was rather embarrassed that Maria had spoken so directly. She turned to Nerissa and said,"Mom, do you see that? This is what my baby girl has become."

Nerissa looked at Yvonne, and then at her granddaughter. Smiling, she said, "Maria, can't you go toLiam's again tomorrow morning? Are you unable to be separated from him for even a minute?"

"That's right, Grandma." Maria nodded seriously. Although she felt a little embarrassed, sheadmitted it openly.

She did not know that Liam had overheard their conversation.

"I just want to be with Liam. I can't leave him, not even for one minute. Grandma, can you pleasehelp me? Help me convince Dad later. I know you and Mommy love me the most, and I know theboth of you understand young people," Maria continued, trying to coax Nerissa and Yvonne.

Nerissa thought for a while. "Maria, aren't you afraid of being frowned at for staying with Liam?"

"Who would frown on us?" Maria retorted.

"Well, your mother and me," Nerissa replied. "Just look at how you're behaving. It's like you'venever had a boyfriend before."

Maria pouted. "It's just that we haven't seen each other for a long time, and there are a lot of thingsthat I want to talk to him about."

"Are you two really just going to talk?" Yvonne asked deliberately. "Then, have a good talk later."

"Mommy," Maria continued to beg. "Please, you know me the best."

Yvonne snorted. She was trying hard to suppress her laughter.

Liam thought that Maria's behavior was really cute. However, he knew that they should have asense of propriety, so he hurried down the stairs.

When the three people in the living room heard his footsteps, they all turned to look at him.

Maria immediately went up to him. "Liam, you're back? Did my dad make things difficult for you? What did he tell you?"

"Don't worry. Mr. Lowe treated me very well," Liam said reassuringly.

"Really?" Maria could not believe it. She looked at Liam suspiciously, then looked at the stairs.Zachary still had not come down. "What did he say?"

Liam lowered his voice before saying, "We were talking about the termination of my contract. Maria,if you don't trust Mr. Lowe, he'll be sad."

Maria nodded. "All right, I'll believe you this time. But if my dad does say something, you must letme know. I absolutely won't let anyone bully you."

Zachary came downstairs at that moment. Upon seeing how worried Maria was about Liam, hesighed helplessly.

Maria was Zachary's daughter, yet she was so worried about some other boy.

As a father, Zachary felt a little envious.

Zachary cleared his throat loudly and said, "It's getting late. Liam, you should head back first. I'll askmy assistant to contact you first thing tomorrow morning."

"Okay, Mr. Lowe." Liam nodded at once.

Hearing that, Maria quickly looked up at her father. "Dad, it's only eight o'clock. It's not late yet."

Zachary walked past her without even looking at her as if he had not heard anything.

Maria was shocked at his cold attitude.

She could tell that he was angry.

She could only turn toward Nerissa and Yvonne for help.

Zachary sat down next to Yvonne.

Liam said, "I'll head back first then. Maria, you should listen to your grandmother and parents. I'llcontact you tomorrow."

Maria pouted and shook her head. Her reluctance was obvious for all to see.

After observing the situation, Nerissa turned to Zachary. "Zachary, Maria should go with Liam."

Everyone in the room was shocked, especially Liam.

Maria's eyes widened with surprise. She had always known that Nerissa doted on her the most.

As for Yvonne, she did not expect her mother-in-law to be so open-minded.

Zachary looked at his own mother.

Nerissa continued, "Back then, your father was very strict. And because of him, you and Yvonnewere separated for a long time. It's a different time now, and we need to learn from our mistakes. We should stop judging others with our preconceptions. I believe that Liam will treat

Maria well. As such, we should try to help them by giving them more time to be with each other."

Maria was so moved that she was on the verge of crying. "Grandma," she choked out.

Liam looked at Nerissa, then at Zachary and Yvonne. He felt that he should express some of histhoughts.

"I'm serious about Maria, but I know you're worried about her," said Liam. Then he turned to Maria."Maria, stay home today. Your family must have missed you very much, so you should also spendsome time with them. We can spend time together next time." His gaze told her that it was whatthey should do.

They were adults, and they should not be so immature.

She had just returned home for a while, yet she was already telling her family that she wanted toleave with him. Indeed, it was going a little too far.novelbin

Yvonne and Nerissa were both very satisfied after hearing what Liam had to say.

The two of them looked at Zachary.

Zachary then said, "She's annoying. We don't need her to spend time with us. Take her away."

Maria widened her eyes in shock. "Dad, you think I'm annoying?"

Liam immediately tugged at Maria's hand. He could tell that Zachary was serious about letting Marialeave with him.

He found it hard to believe.

Yvonne interjected, "Your father is just worried that you're tired after traveling all the way back. Go,go back with Liam. Butler, pack some food for them."

"Yes, Madam." The butler immediately went to pack some food.

"Liam, I have one request," Zachary added.

Liam nodded immediately and asked respectfully, "What is it, Mr. Lowe?"

"The two of you must not have any children in these three years," Zachary said in a deep voice.

Liam was dumbfounded and a little embarrassed, but he nodded immediately. "I understand, Mr.Lowe. I won't hurt Maria."

"Why?" Maria asked in confusion, "Why can't we have children?"

"You should know better than to kick up a fuss," Zachary said to Maria. "There are two reasons whyyou shouldn't have children. Firstly, your mother is pregnant. The child will still be too young, so youshould wait for a while. Secondly, during these three years, you should see how well you get alongand whether you're the right person for each other. If you have a child too soon, it will be a tragedy ifyou come to regret it."

When Maria came to her senses, she pouted her lips and replied, "Dad, you're not actually worriedabout this. You're worried that Mommy's child and my child will be too close in age, and that well bea laughing stock, right?"

Zachary's face darkened. "Liam, take this shameless woman away and let us have some peace."

Liam immediately came to his senses and nodded. "Okay, Mr. Lowe. I'll take Maria back. Don'tworry. Well do as you ask."

Zachary only nodded without replying.

After they said their goodbyes, Liam left with Maria.

The butler gave them a lot of delicious food to take with them. Maria was still in a state of shockwhen she was finally inside Liam's car. It was as if she could not come to her senses.

"It's so unbelievable. My family actually didn't object to letting you take me away." Maria muttered toherself. Somehow, she found it amusing.

Liam did not know how to respond when he heard her words. "Maria, you silly girl. How could youbeg your mother and grandmother to agree to such a request?" "Did you hear me pleading withGrandma and Mommy?" Maria asked, turning to look at him.

"Yes, I heard it." Liam nodded.

Maria immediately covered her face, embarrassed. "But what else could I have done? That waswhat I wanted. Don't laugh at me."

Liam smiled, "I won't laugh at you. I just think that your parents will have a headache when they seeyou like this. However, your family is really open-minded."

"I think it's because they trust you." Maria put down her hands to look at Liam. "You're a celebrity, soyou should be the one more afraid of dating. But If you're not afraid, what should they be afraid of?"

Liam shook his head. "That's not it."

Maria was confused. "What do you mean by that?"

"It's because they love you," Liam said. "Your father actually really loves you and understands you."
