Chapter 1526

"Gary, don't do this. The more you do this, the more chaotic my mind will be," Celeste said softly.

Perhaps she was too anxious and agitated. She did not know what she could say, so she bit herlips, tearing them, as she was afraid that she might burst into tears.

The more she didn't want to cry, the more she would endure it.

Those low sobbing sounds had her seem more pitiful. Her shoulders trembled, and others felt as ifshe was fragile and had been wronged.

Her whole body, which was wrapped in his suit, seemed shrivelled and weak as if she wasdesperate and was at a loss.

She seemed so aggrieved.

Gary gulped, his voice somewhat hoarse as he spoke softly, "I'm sorry, I made you cry again."

Celeste shook her head before she lowered it. Her long hair hung loose, disordered that it coveredher teary face.

She seemed to have come to a realization.

She did not want to say anything else, for she had no strength left, feeling sorrowful, depressed, and in a mess.

The worst part was that she could not get over the person in front of her. It was even moreimpossible for her to continue to be with him.

It was a terribly awful and uncomfortable feeling. It felt so uncomfortable that she wanted to die.novelbin

She did not understand why he appeared in front of her right as she was about to let go of him. Shedid not even have the courage to hide anymore.

She lived with the Jones family. Everything she had was supplied by the Jones family, even herinternship opportunity was provided by the Jones Estate. She could not even escape the Jonesfamily when it turned out to be her internship.

Perhaps, she would turn out to be no one once she left the Jones family.

She couldn't blame Gary, for he was Heinz and Grace's son. She was completely powerless and feltthat blaming him for the slightest bit was considered an unforgivable sin.

She was in a difficult position. Her life was hard, but it was hard in a way that no one couldunderstand.

Lots of people were walking to and from the library. Gradually, the crowd bloomed, weaving throughthe streets.

However, she was still standing by the door, crying bitterly.

Gary looked at her, not knowing what he should do. He did not know how much time had passed ashe stayed by her side, watching her cry in helplessness. He had his head lowered and was at aloss, not even having the courage to hold her in his arms.

Fortunately, Celeste only cried for a little while before she realized that it was an inappropriate thingto do.

She hastily wiped her tears, collected herself and took a deep breath to stop her crying.

In a few minutes, Celeste calmed herself down in no time and told Gary, "Let's go home."

It was quite rare for her not to continue to go against him or even make a scene. She turned aroundand left. Celeste actually got into his car obediently.

Gary buckled her seat belt while she did not refuse his help. All she did was lower her head andallowed him to do everything for her.

Gary was tense all over. He turned around a few times to look at Celeste, but she had always hadher head lowered in silence.

He dared not make a sound either, so he didn't talk.

He was afraid that if he spoke, he would break the hard- earned silence the two of them had rightthen.

However, her little face was drenched with tears, seemingly aggrieved and weak.

When they were approaching the gates, Celeste ordered, "Could you park by the door? There'ssomething I want to tell you."

Gary hurriedly nodded, "Sure."

He found a quiet place, parked the car, and turned around to look at Celeste.

Celeste turned to look at him as well.

Their gazes met. Celeste's eyes were still red, but they were especially bright, "Gary, tell me, didyou come back to London because of me?"

Gary's heart tightened as he looked straight into her eyes. After a long while, he nodded in certainty,"It's mainly because of you. The research comes next."

Celeste took a deep breath and fell into silence.

She did not speak for a long time. All she did was stare at his handsome face.

Gary did not know what was on Celeste's mind. He was anxious and stared at her, awaiting heranswer.

Celeste looked at him for some time, fixing her gaze on him.

During that process, neither of them spoke. After a long while, Celeste finally said softly, "Gary, Iforgive you. I've never blamed you. The child's incident has nothing to do with you. It's a result of mystunted body. There's something wrong with my hormone secretion. The doctor said that it willalways turn out this way in the future. I would encounter a miscarriage whenever I get pregnant."

Gary stared at Celeste, dazed. All of a sudden, a thought flash through his mind, "Celeste, is thatwhy you broke up with me?"

Could that be the reason why Celeste had always insisted on a breakup?

Did she want to break up with him as she was afraid that she would be infertile in the future?

He carefully observed Celeste's face, but Celeste did not avoid his gaze. She looked straight intohis eyes and shook her head.

She said, "That's one of the reasons. There are still far too many problems between us."

"I don't think those problems you mentioned are indeed obstacles in our relationship," Gary said. "Ioverlooked Janice and realized that I hurt you, but I've never taken Janice seriously."

"That's not important anymore." Celeste shook her head, "I've long ignored Janice. The pain oflosing a child reminds me that I'm not strong enough, so I can't blame anyone. Logically speaking,we're unsuitable for each other. It would be better for us to continue to remain friends."

"If we were to be in a relationship, there would only be endless fights. I may feel so aggrieved that Iwish to die. It won't work no matter how hard we try because our way of thinking is too different fromeach other."

"In the end, you will feel aggrieved as well. That's my personality. It's a negative character. I'm wellaware of the fact that I'm a weak, stubborn, and timid person."

She spoke in a calm and serious way, but her long and teary eyelashes trembled, even her voicewas hoarse and choked with sobs. With that, she took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down.

"You saw it for yourself. I still needed to rely on you in the company this afternoon, but now I'mtelling you that I must leave you. That's who I am, that's how dramatic I am," She said it all word byword, "That's because I may not be able to build my confidence in the future, and I know that I needto have a strong mentality if I want to be in a relationship with you. I don't have that."

"Celeste!" Gary realized that she was in great pain.

"That's the same case for when I asked you for help in the company today. It makes me feeldependent on you and that I can't leave you, and if I do, I will suffer. To be honest, I feel inferior, andI feel like I'm not worthy of you at all." That was the first time she revealed the secrets deep in herheart, "Did you know? I envy Janice a lot. I get really jealous when I see her behaving soshamelessly in front of me as she jokes around with you. I want to do that too, but I can't."

"She could openly declare that she could snatch you away from me. She knew that we were in arelationship, yet she could still do that. I couldn't be so unscrupulous. Sometimes, it even made mefeel unsure of myself, although I was your girlfriend."

"It's tiring. I thought that it would be better for me to watch you from a distance. I can't keep up withyour pace because I'm too dumb. It doesn't have anything to do with you, and it's not that you're notexcellent enough. It's because you're too perfect, and I'm not worthy of you."

"You were right. You would always look on the bright side. You would always say that nothing isgoing on between the two of you. Logically speaking, it's correct. You two were indeed behaving ashow close friends would. Well, at least, that's for your case, but I would feel uncomfortable."

"Every time I see you joking around and bursting into laughter with her, it just feels like I could neverbe able to do that." "Perhaps you're too selfless and forgiving, but I'm a narrow-minded person. Idon't want anything. I only want the whole of you. But in this way, my love for you will only suffocateyou."

"Reality proves that if we were to be in a relationship, it would only end tragically. I didn't want thistragedy to go on, so I thought about breaking up with you."

"Don't ask if we can be in a relationship in the future. I can only tell you that if I'm not confidentenough, I will never be able to stand by your side, confidently, laughing and talking with you."

"I might be able to find confidence in myself as your friend, but as your woman? I can't. I might evenlook down on myself."

"So, let's break up. I don't want to make things difficult for the two of us. Can you do that for me?"

Gary looked at her with astonishment in his eyes, fixing his complicated gaze on her. After a longwhile, he finally spoke in a hoarse voice, "Celeste, you're opening up to me."

"That's because I think of you as a friend," She gave a self-deprecating chuckle, her eyes reddish, "Idon't have anything. I'm all alone. I have everything I own right now because it's all provided byGrace, Heinz and the Jones family. Once I leave you, I'm not worth a single penny."

Gary's pupils constricted as he shook his head. His heart was in agony and pain.

He had completely ignored his woman. Ever since she was young, she had always been alone. Sheseemed so strong on the outside when she was actually weak and powerless deep within.

She was too uneasy.

She was working hard, but she was afraid.

"Alright, let's be friends." He nodded, his eyes full of warmth as he suppressed the emotions andheartache in his heart and promised in a low voice, "I won't put too much pressure on you anymore.I will wait until you're confident enough before I pursue you."

"Don't pursue me." She shook her head, "I'm not worth it, I'm not worth your time."

"Silly girl," He sighed, "Since I've fallen for you, why would I abandon you? I, Gary Smith, havehated abandonment ever since I was young. Let me tell you why I've never acknowledged Heinz asmy father."

Celeste was stunned.

Gary continued, "It's because this is his second marriage, and my mother is his second wife. To me,he's an unfaithful man. He isn't worthy of being my father. However, I'm biologically related to him,so I have no other choice. I can only fight back and resist in silence."

Celeste was in disbelief.

That was probably the first time the both of them spoke their hearts out.

Everyone had their dark side which they could never expose. They would suppress those secrets intheir hearts until they were suffocated by it.

Right then, as they said it out loud, they were both somewhat surprised.

"To me, I don't think Heinz deserves my mother. It's not because he's a divorcee, but because hehas always been hiding the fact that he was married. He never told my mother until she found out."
