Chapter 1524

Celeste did not know how big of a difference in their abilities was until she was done reading hisreport.

She fell into a deep state of self-reflection and did not say anything for a long time.

That was not only a complete blow to her intelligence but was also a big hit to her spirits. Celestecould no longer believe in herself.

She had lost all confidence.

Back then, she was still slightly confident in herself. However, after suffering from such a huge blow, the tiny bit of confidence left in her vanished.

Celeste fell into a trance for a long time. She doubted herself for a long while. In the end, shereached the conclusion that one should not compare themselves to others.

Secretly sighing, she tidied her documents. After reading Gary's documents once more, shereturned them to him.

With that, she started to sort out the information and topics on her own, slowly absorbing what she

had learned.

Although she could not detect the problems lying within, she could still create forms and handlethem well after reading the documents.

As she compiled her documents, she noticed Gary staring at her, unblinking, once she lifted hergaze.

His eyes were deep and pitch-black, shimmering with a bright radiance like obsidian.

All at once, Celeste felt a little embarrassed, her face flushed red.

She felt ashamed when one stared at her and when she lagged behind in her work.

After a brief moment of hesitation, Celeste spoke up, "Thank you for providing me with theinformation. You did a great job, and I'm amazed. You're indeed great. Now, I finally understand thegap between the two of us."

Seeing how downcast Celeste was, Gary comforted her by saying, "Celeste, you don't have to beso anxious. I'm different. I've always been sensitive to numbers. Plus, I'm experienced, so I couldfinish them in a shorter time. You didn't use the right method, that's all. Once you find a way, you'lldefinitely progress."

Celeste shook her head, "You don't have to comfort me. I know that I'll improve with time, and I'llfind my own way as well."

With that, she cracked into a smile and got up to print the documents she had modified before shehanded it over to Eason.

Eason was satisfied to see that. He said with a slight smile on his face, "It seems that Gary hastaught you a lot. You mastered it in an afternoon. That's great. You've made good progress. You twoare indeed suitable to be partners."

Celeste had her lips twitched in embarrassment. She had to admit that there was still a huge gap inbetween their abilities.

"Yes, he helped me sort it all out. I couldn't discover anything wrong with it at all."

Eason could tell that she was in low spirits, so he comforted her, "It's alright. Girls are generally lesssensitive to numbers than boys. Besides, Gary is an exception."

"Master, you don't have to comfort me. I'll continue to work hard." Celeste smiled. She did notremain in Eason's office as she was afraid that she might delay his work, "I'll take my leave."

"Sure." Eason nodded.

After work, while Gary was still packing up, he saw that Celeste had disappeared in the blink of aneye. He hurriedly rushed out of the building, but she was nowhere to be seen, so he asked others,

"Have any of you seen Celeste?" "No."

Asking as he made his way to the exit, no one saw where Celeste had gone. After he inquired withthe security guards, he learned that Celeste had already left.

Gary was worried sick. He thought of how depressed she had been throughout the entire afternoonand gradually turned even more distressed.

He did not know where Celeste had gone. Had she returned home?

After bidding farewell to Alex, he rushed home.

As soon as Gary entered the villa, he asked Pedro, "Has Celeste come back yet?"

"Miss Celeste hasn't come back yet. Master Gary, aren't you two interns of the same company? Why didn't the both of you return home together?" Pedro found it odd.

"So she hasn't returned." Gary frowned and turned to head out once more.

Noticing that he was about to leave, Pedro instantly called out, "Master Gary, do you need a car?Are you going to search for Miss Celeste?"

"Get me the keys." Gary turned around. He thought that it would be much more convenient for himto have a mode of transportation.

That would certainly make searching for Celeste much easier.

"Alright," Pedro picked up the keys in a hurry, but after handing them over to Gary, he asked,"Master Gary, have you given Miss Celeste a call?"

Gary was stunned. That was right. He hadn't called Celeste ever since he had left the office. Whenit came to Celeste, his mind would go blank.

Pedro noticed him stunned and sighed, "Master Gary, others say that those in a relationship willhave a decrease in intelligence. It seems that it's the same case for you. It's inevitable."

Gary frowned upon hearing Pedro's words. He was left speechless.

Shooting an icy glance at Pedro, he turned around, fished his mobile phone out of his pockets, anddialled Celeste's number.

Fortunately, her phone was turned on.

His palm was sweaty as he was afraid that Celeste would turn her phone off so that others couldn'treach her.

Obviously, he had underestimated Celeste.

When the phone rang, Celeste was searching for information in the library.

She had been thinking of how she could improve herself and break through her current ability eversince she had stepped out of the office.

Whenever she was studying, she would visit the library to solve the problems she encountered.

Right then as she was facing new problems, she first thought of the library.

The moment she left the company, she arrived at the library to search for some information to study.

Books would certainly contain knowledge and information.

She needed to find some documents that could benefit herself.

In conclusion, she felt that having experience, intellect, and gaining experience all contributed toone's development. Hence, she did not want to fall behind. Her way of solving those problems wasto study hard.

The phone vibrated. She lowered her head to glance at it and saw that it was Gary. She then pickedup the call.

"Hello?"

"Celeste, where are you?" Gary asked in a deep voice. His tone was filled with anxiety andagitation.

Celeste was confused as she did not know what was happening, "I'm in a library. What's thematter?"

Gary instantly heaved a sigh of relief. "It's nothing.

I was just worried about you."

Celeste tensed, "You don't have to worry about me."

"You left immediately after work," He explained, "You didn't tell me where you were going, so I wasquite worried. Send me your location. I'll pick you up."

"No, I can return home by myself," Celeste rejected, "Besides, the transport system is convenient.I'll be back soon. You don't have to waste your time on me."

Her tone went on at a steady pace, expressionless.

"I'll pick you up," He insisted, "It's much more convenient for me to drive, and it's much better thansqueezing your way through the subway."

"There's no need. I need to look up some information. You should deal with your personal affairs."With that, Celeste swiftly hung up the phone.

Staring at the screen of his phone, Gary frowned once more. He was once again rejected byCeleste.

Right then, he was sure that Celeste insisted on having nothing to do with him.

He had no choice but to send a message, "Celeste, if you're in a hurry to learn something, I canteach you. It'll be faster to have me teach you than to have you aimlessly searching through thelibrary."

Reading the text, Celeste was left in a trance. She knew that he was right. However, how muchcould she rely on him all along?

He would leave in a month. She could not rely on him for everything. She still had to rely on herself.

He sent her another message, "Celeste, send me your address, and I'll head over to the library.Otherwise, I'll go searching through every library around."

Celeste hesitated for a moment before she typed a reply, "You don't have to pick me up. I don'tneed you to do so. I'm about to board the subway. Don't worry. I'm used to it. I'm used to walking onmy own path by myself for countless years. You'll have to walk your own path as well. Don't be tiedup in your path by me. I'm being serious."

Upon receiving the text, Gary's heart sank.

He knew that if he had not offered her help when she needed it in the past, she might not want hishelp anymore even if he were to offer it in the

future.

Gary felt unpleasant the moment such a realization dawned upon him. He felt that he had been tooselfish. He had always been thinking about himself in the past. He had not even cared about thesixteen-year-old Celeste, who had been so lonely and had needed his accompaniment.novelbin

However, he had left her in London. Right then, as he wanted to spend time with her, she no longerneeded him.

A hint of accusation and grievance were concealed in between the lines, but there was nothing hecould say nor do.
