Chapter 1487

Celeste stood frozen in place as she took a shower upstairs. Her eyes were wet, and she couldn'ttell whether it was the shower or her tears. All she felt was wronged and hurt.

After taking a shower and changing her clothes, she wanted to stop thinking about what happenedand turned on her computer. She went on doing her own things.

She gravely realized that she shouldn't put all her energy into Gary. If she wasn't living for herself, she would be incessantly hung up on what she may or may not have.

That night, Gary did not return.

A cold war was ignited after weeks of harmony between them.

Celeste called him the next morning.

But he didn't pick up and hung up on her.

Feeling a little helpless, Celeste sent him a voice message and said, "I'm going back to the house inLondon now, it's best we go there together. We can talk about our problems later, let's set aside ourdispute for now and look after Maria and Ernest. I hope we can get along with each other peacefullyinstead of quarreling, so please be mature about this."

Not long after her message was sent out, Gary returned.

When he entered the door, he looked gloomy. Looking at Celeste, his eyes seemed to be frostedwith ice.

Seeing him enter, Celeste had already changed into her clothes and asked lightly, "Are you going toLondon?"

She didn't ask a single thing about him.

He didn't come home for the entire night, and she never once phoned him to ask if he was okay. She was still quite angry about the entire affair.

Gary saw that she had changed her clothes. She was wearing a pair of plaid pants and a pair offlats. She looked very comfortable.

However, her face carried an air of apathy. She spoke and laughed loosely as she looked at him,her expression cold and indifferent.

The more she acted like this, the more agitated Gary became.

Since she didn't want to say anything, Gary kept silent. He simply said, "Let's go back to the housein London and have a meal first, then we can talk about it."

So the two of them drove to the house in London together. The moment she stepped through thedoors, Maria ran up to hug Celeste. She said excitedly, "Long time no see, Celeste! You keepgetting prettier and prettier."

"Thank you." Celeste smiled and hugged Maria back. After letting go, she looked at Maria up anddown. "You're the one who got prettier. Did something good happen while you were in the NorthernCity?"

At that moment, Ernest walked over and looked at Gary and Celeste. He said, "Celeste, yourintuition really is unbeatable, you saw through Maria's source of happiness. It's true, somethingreally good happened to her during the summer."

"Oh?" Celeste was surprised. "What happened?"

Maria immediately became bashful and was too embarrassed to speak. Her face had happinessand shyness written all over it.

Gary glanced at her and said in an indifferent voice, "Did you nab Liam?"

Maria's eyes widened instantly and looked at Gary. "Gary, you're amazing, you totally guessed it!"

"You're really together with Liam?" Celeste was surprised. "That's great, your wish came true!"

Celeste was genuinely glad for Maria.

"Yes." Maria nodded shyly. "Liam's my boyfriend now, and we're in an established relationship.""Congratulations." Gary's tone was still indifferent, but a hint of a smile flashed across his eyes.

Ernest looked at Gary and the two brothers smiled at each other.

Realizing that his brother looked a little preoccupied, he raised his eyebrows and asked with asmile, "Do you have something on your mind?"

Hearing Ernest's question, Celeste subconsciously tensed up. She pulled Maria along andwhispered, "Come on, let's go upstairs and talk, let the brothers chat it out."

"Let's go then." Maria grabbed Celeste as well and they went up the stairs excitedly.

When they retreated to the rooms, Maria opened up her boxes of gifts for Celeste and handed themto her. "Alright, these are all for you. But I was mostly with Liam the whole time back in the city, so Ididn't buy too many things. These were all bought by my mom so I brought them here just for you."

"I really have to thank your mom." Celeste was moved at the thought of her elders rememberingher.

"There's still one more gift at Ernest's place. My aunt got some boxes of delicious foods and

interesting items."

Celeste was even more moved. "Thank you so much to all of you."

"So, you didn't go back this time. We all knew it was because you were with Gary. My Aunt alsoknows, and she's waiting for the moment to hold your grandchildren. How are you getting along withGary?" Maria asked her.

The corners of Celeste's lips twitched awkwardly. What could she say about her and Gary? It wasanother cold war for them last night.

"I can't say if it's good or bad, but maybe there's a problem with my own personality. I feel likethere's something missing between us."

"Ah?" Maria was shocked. She noticed the desolation on Celeste's face, and she couldn't help butfeel a little worried. "How could it be? You two have feelings for each for a good reason. How couldthere be a problem? Was there a misunderstanding?"

"I can't say. Every time I try to get to know him better, he shrugs me off." Celeste said softly, "I justfeel like we're missing something, I'm at a loss."

"Celeste, don't worry about what you may or may not have, but if there's something going onbetween the two of you, you shouldn't bottle it up.

Let's talk about it, you seem really tired." Maria looked at her in concern.

Even Maria could see that she was terribly drained.

Celeste had to admit she didn't conceal it very well.

Maria could really see the desolation clouding Celeste's face. Even though Celeste's usualexpression was never really a joyful one, she never seemed as miserable as she did now. Shelooked so tired and it was heart-wrenching for Maria to see her like that.

"Celeste, I know you feel great pressure just by being with Gary. You try not to argue with himbecause of the help you received from the Jones Family. It also doesn't help that Gary is a proudperson himself, and he won't go out of his way to empathize with you. It's because of this characterof his that he needs you to be selfless for him.

But you're just twenty years old, how can you expect yourself to be that selfless? It's hard even forpeople who are strong."

What Maria said had struck Celeste from the bottom of her heart. For a moment, she did not sayanything.

"I'm telling you, I've heard so many people praising Gary ever since I was young. Even Ernest's lightwas enveloped in his shadow, so much so that he felt inferior.

In actuality, Ernest's personality is much better than his, because he knows how to endure and bepatient. On the contrary, Gary's character is brash. He's a proud and arrogant person and he wouldnever say it, but he always has had a cocky attitude.

How could such an arrogant person apologize when encountering a problem? It must be hard onyou to be with him.

This is what the world is like, it's always harder for the person who loves harder. What are you goingto do, Celeste?"

Seeing the immense support Maria had given her, Celeste's smile was especially warm. "It doesn'tmatter. In fact, my relationship isn't that bad, it's just that sometimes I think too much, and he thinks

too little. It doesn't matter, I don't want to talk about it any longer, let's talk about something happy.Tell me what's going on between you and Liam, especially the fun parts."

She had been worn down for a long time.

"Okay, I'll tell you."

Maria changed the subject just like Celeste had asked and told her about what had happenedbetween her and Liam during her summer

vacation.

The two girls chatted and laughed in the room for a long time, and it counted as something happy.

Downstairs, Gary and Ernest sat together. The two of them didn't speak much, but the way Ernestconstantly picked up his phone to check it captured Gary's attention. He raised his eyebrows andspoke, "Did you find someone to worry about when you went back?"novelbin

Ernest looked up at his brother and did not admit or deny anything. He just smiled.

Gary snorted and said, "Looks like you've all gained a lot from going back."

Only then did Ernest open his mouth and say, "It was alright."

"I have to congratulate you." Gary looked at his younger brother. "What kind of girl was she to beable to catch your eye?"

"She's an interesting one." Ernest didn't hide anything. "She has an interesting and vibrant soul."

"Oh, is that so?" Gary shrugged his shoulders. "Did you snag her?"

"No." Ernest shook his head.

"What do you mean you didn't snag her?" "She's just an ordinary friend," Ernest said casually.

Gary knitted his brows. "This attitude of yours is certainly difficult."
