Chapter 1410

He opened the door and got out.

Maria also laughed when she saw Ernest. She pointed at him and exclaimed, "I can't believe you'rewearing a slimming shirt and trousers."

Ernest was tall, and he was wearing a body-tight royal blue shirt and a pair of dark- coloredtrousers. The shirt was tucked into the trousers, and the belt seemed like it was branded. He lookedreally handsome.

It was the first time Maria had seen Ernest dressed like this. She sighed, "Ernest, you're going towork in a few years. I'm sure a lot of women will have a crush on you."

Ernest only smiled and raised his eyebrows at her, "Isn't it the same with you? When you startworking, you will definitely be pursued by a lot of men."

Maria shrugged.

"What's so special about a bunch of men? I only want him."

Ernest knew that she was talking about Liam.

"What if you don't succeed?" He really couldn't bear to ask more.

"If I don't succeed, then so be it," Maria said, "If I try my best in the end but he still won't be with meand thinks that I'm not good enough, then I can only yield to my fate. I deserve it."

"Silly girl," Ernest reached out to pat her head and comfort her, "Being too persistent is a good thingand also a bad thing. Everything has its pros and cons. There are just some things that cannot beforced."

"I won't force anyone to do so except him," Maria replied, "I only want him. I can give up everythingin the world just for him."

"Even your loved ones?" Ernest looked at her.

Maria was stunned, "Ernest, you're giving me a hard time. I'm talking about materialistic stuff, notmy loved ones. My loved ones are equally important."

"That's more like it," Ernest laughed, "Let's go, come on."

"Okay."

After getting in the car, Ernest asked her, "Have you decided on a place?"

"I've made an appointment. It's a cafe on Culture Road opposite the news reporting agency."

Ernest was stunned and the corners of his lips curled into a smile, "Wow, are you trying to intimidatethe author and force her to sell you the copyright?"

"Ernest, I have no intention of intimidating her, but it's true that I'm intent on buying the copyrights tothis book."

Soon, Ernest drove to the building. When they arrived, they went to the table and ordered two cupsof coffee.

"She's not here yet," Ernest looked at his watch.

"There are still five minutes left," Maria looked at the time, "Don't worry."

Time passed by, and four minutes had passed.

Ernest knocked on the watch with his slender fingers. He said, "There is one minute left. This authoris not punctual."

"As long as the book is good," Maria didn't mind, "That book is too popular. I just need the copyrightto this book. As for whoever the author is like, I don't care."

"What they write is a mirror of their character," Ernest reminded her.

Maria immediately looked at the door and grew a little anxious too.

Just then, a figure appeared at the door. It was a girl, with a bun on her head, a backpack on herback, and a pair of black-framed glasses. She looked gentle and reserved.

As soon as she came in, she said to the waiter, "I'm looking for Miss Lowe."

"Please come with me," The waiter led her there.

"She's here, she's here," Maria saw the girl and looked at Ernest with joy.novelbin

Ernest looked down at his watch.

Four minutes and fifty seconds.

When the girl walked up to them, exactly five minutes had passed.

No more no less. It was so perfect and inhumanly accurate.

Ernest was almost shocked.

He looked at the girl in front of him and couldn't help but take a second look at her.

The bun on her head was very cute, with some strands of hair left on her forehead. Her hair lookedfluffy, and her neck was long and slender. She was fair, and her facial features could not be seenclearly because of the glasses.

However, she was dressed in a very loose, beige knitted jacket. She had paired it off with a skirt thatwas light brown, and there was a pair of white canvas shoes on her feet. In fact, she looked quitelazy.

"Miss Lowe, hello, I'm Reaper," The girl introduced herself as she looked at Maria.

Maria stood up and reached out, "I'm Maria, are you really Reaper?"

"Yes," The girl seemed to be embarrassed and smiled. She adjusted her glasses and shot curiousglances from Ernest to Maria. Her silent inquiry made Maria immediately explain, "This is my cousinErnest Jones. He came with me."

The girl nodded to Ernest and said, "Hello, Mr. Jones."

"Hello," Ernest also nodded slightly and gestured for her to sit down, "Please sit down and ordersome drinks."

"Some milk tea please," The girl said, "Thank you."

"Give me a cup of milk tea," Ernest ordered to the waiter.

Then, he asked the girl, "What desserts would you like?"

"I don't want any desserts," The girl sat down directly opposite Maria.

Ernest couldn't help but look at the girl again. She was someone who was quite observant. Itseemed that she was not very old.

"Please give us two ice creams," He then told the waiter.

The girl was stunned and looked at him. Then, she pursed her lips and didn't say anything.

Soon, the milk tea and ice cream arrived.

Ernest gave one to the girl and gave the other one to Maria.

"Thank you," The girl smiled. Without hesitation, she picked up the small spoon, took a bite, andsmiled happily.

Then, she looked at Maria and said, "Miss Lowe, let's get straight to the point."

"Good, Miss Reaper you're quite straightforward," Maria smiled, "What conditions do you have?Just tell me."

"I have considered the things you talked about with me before seriously."

"Yes," Maria nodded. "And?"

"Let's put it this way, the copyright of my book is not in my hands. You know that I am an exclusiveworker on the website. In fact, I can't make the decision to sell it on my own," The girl exclaimed.

Maria was stunned.

The girl looked at her and continued to smile. "I can see that it's your first time getting involved inour industry. Our works are all exclusive. The copyright is not in the hands of the author, unless it'snot exclusive."

"I see," Maria was also shocked. She seemed enlightened, as though someone had just cleared hermind of some worries.

It seemed that her train of thought had been too simple.

"If you want to buy the copyrights, you must talk to the website," The girl added.

"I really thought it was going to be simple," Maria also admitted generously, "But I really like thisbook very much, and I intend to make some adaptations from it."

"I know," The girl nodded.

Only then did Ernest interject, "Miss Reaper, since you're here for an appointment, can you tell usmore about it? How can we buy this book on the website?"

Reaper thought for a moment and said, "I have two requirements. If you can agree with me, I canhelp you sign a contract with the website."

"Go ahead," Maria was a little anxious.

"First, you can't modify the plot of this book by yourself. Every change you want to make needs mypermission. Even if you use it for films and dramas, I hope you can follow the original plot."

"Of course," Maria promised, "I respect the original plot of this story, and I won't change it casually.Even if I make any changes, I will show it to you."

Reaper then continued, "Second, I need two million dollars. The money given to me by the websitedoesn't cover that much. If the website doesn't give me enough money after you sign the contract, Ihope you can make it up to me privately."

Maria was stunned and turned to look at Ernest.

Ernest glanced at Reaper and said, "Well, we can give you two million dollars first."

Reaper was taken aback and she looked at Ernest subconsciously.

Ernest also looked at her. Through the lenses, he couldn't see the girl's eyes clearly, but he couldfeel that the girl was in urgent need of money.

"It's fine," She shook her head and looked at him. After lowering her gaze, she whispered, "Maybethe website will give me two million dollars as compensation. If I end up with more, I won't need toget any from you. Two million dollars is enough."

"Miss Reaper, if you are in urgent need of money, you can contact us at any time," Ernest was stillvery sincere and said, "You have my cousin's contact number."

"Thank you, Mr. Jones," Reaper smiled. She took a document out from her bag and handed it toMaria, informing her, "Miss Lowe, take a look at this contract. This is the contract that I signed foryou to buy this book from the website."

Maria was really surprised. She took the contract from Reaper while shooting a look at her. Then,Maria read through the contract closely.

That document was indeed more detailed than the one she had prepared before. It included alltypes of possibilities and avoided all risks.

It was a very complete purchase agreement.

It took Maria ten minutes to finish reading it.

During that period, Reaper was eating ice cream quietly. She took small bites, savouring the tasteslowly.

Ernest kept shooting her looks and sizing her up inadvertently. When their gazes met, he saidsomething to avoid the awkward silence.

"Is Reaper your pen name?" Ernest asked her.
