Chapter 1322

Five minutes later, Cindy's phone rang.

The minute she picked up her phone, she knew that Monica had found out.

She took a deep breath and answered the call, "Hi, Monica."

"Cindy, what's wrong with you?" Monica was very anxious, "Why didn't you tell me immediatelywhen something happened? I can't believe I had to find out through Mr. Holland?"

"I'm sorry, Monica," Cindy said awkwardly, "I'm sorry."

"You don't have to be so polite. I'll be heading to your place right away. You need an expert, right?"

"That's right."

"Okay, wait for me. I'll be there in an hour."

"All right."

Meanwhile, next door.

Both Ernest and Maria were in Celeste's room. Celeste's face seemed extremely pale and shedidn't go downstairs.

Ernest and Maria looked at each other and said,

"They will sign the agreement by today. From now on, you can just concentrate on your studies."

"That's right, Celeste," Maria added, "We didn't expect your aunt to agree so quickly."

Celeste lowered her head, her long eyelashes fluttering and masking the worry in her eyes.

"Are you worried about the email your aunt mentioned?" Ernest saw how odd Celeste had beenacting and couldn't help but ask.

Celeste was surprised and looked up at Ernest. She was a little flustered and did not dare to lookdirectly into his eyes. She tried to laugh it off, "Sorry, I'm such a disappointment. I'm still worriedabout her, even though I don't agree with everything she does."

"You silly girl," Maria also chuckled, "It's normal for you to be worried. She's been your aunt for somany years, and you guys have bonded with each other for so long. It would be strange if you arenot even worried at all."

Celeste looked at them with shame and anger. She felt guilty and didn't dare to look straight intotheir eyes. She was always troubling others.

Ernest had a deep look in his eyes as he said to Celeste, "Don't feel burdened. Being grateful is ahuman trait."

Celeste nodded.

"You two can continue to chat, I'm going to call my brother," Ernest shot them a meaningful lookbefore turning to leave.

Maria pointed towards Ernest's retreating back and asked Celeste, "Did you find anything differentabout him?"

"What do you mean?" Celeste was puzzled.

Maria thought for a moment and muttered, "I thought he would never contact Gary on his own. Whyis he doing so?"

Celeste was stupefied and shook her head, asking, "Are you saying that they won't contact eachother on their own?"

Maria nodded and sighed, "I don't know what happened. It seems like their relationship is no longeras close as before."

In truth, Maria had a feeling that the reason for this was Celeste. They both realized that they bothhad fallen in love with her.

Thus, this pulled their relationship apart.

"No way," Celeste shook her head and frowned, "I recall that they've both called one anotherbefore."

"Yeah," Maria agreed, "That's why I find it strange when Ernest said that he wants to give Gary acall. Why would he call him at this time, if not to tell him about your change in guardianship?"

Celeste lowered her head when Gary was mentioned. Her long eyelashes trembled slightly, and shefelt a little embarrassed and guilty. She didn't dare to look straight into Maria's eyes.

Maria was also very sharp, and she had noticed it an instant. She quickly asked, "Hey, what's goingon? Are you blushing?"

"Maria," Celeste said hurriedly, "I contacted Gary again."

Maria was taken aback and immediately shouted in surprise, "What? When did this happen?"

"Yesterday."

"What did you guys talk about?" Maria was very puzzled. There was a flash of surprise in her eyesas she speculated, "Did you two make up?"

Celeste nodded.

"Great," Maria also heaved a sigh of relief and added, "Celeste, actually, when you said that thingswere over between you and Gary, I didn't know how to persuade you. I felt incredibly guilty."

Celeste immediately shook her head, "It has nothing to do with you. This is between me and Gary. You don't have to feel guilty."novelbin

"No," Maria pouted and said, "I always wanted to set you guys up, but I forgot to respect your owndecision. Now that you guys have reconciled, I don't feel so guilty anymore."

"However, I have reflected on what I have done. After all, I should have respected your opinions. Thus, from now on, I am going to respect your decisions."

"We're friends," Celeste laughed, "I know that you're doing this for my own good. I really understandthat you're doing this while thinking of me."

"Then why didn't you tell me in the first place that you had such a huge fight with your Aunt?" Mariacomplained.

Celeste looked at her in embarrassment.

"Tell me. If Ernest didn't find you, were you just going to run away? Even if you were facingsomething worse, you should have told us about it. Are you planning to part ways with us and neversee each other again?"

Maria had been holding back all these words for these few days, but she couldn't hold herself backnow and came clean.

"Yes, I really did think about it," Celeste confessed honestly.

"You fool," Maria glared at her with red- rimmed eyes, "If you did that, I would never forgive you."

Celeste's eyes were also a little teary. She apologized, "Maria, I'm sorry." "Celeste, do you want toknow something?" Maria looked at her and said softly, "When I was five years old, my mom just leftme and my dad for more than a year. She didn't even give us a heads up when she wanted toleave."

"I stayed with my father for almost a year and a half before my mom finally came back."

"For the entire year that she went missing, there was no news regarding her. I didn't know when shewas going to come back."

"That feeling is the worst. It took me so long to forgive her."

"That's why if you ever just leave me without saying a word, I'm not going to forgive you. I neverwant to ever experience that again. It was as if I was something disposable. If that were to happen,I'll declare our friendship over."

"Okay, I won't," Celeste promised, "No matter where I go, I'll give you a heads up. I promise not torun away again."

"That's more like it," Maria finally smiled.

The two young girls' eyes were teary as they stared at each other, and then they began to chuckle.

Next door, in Ernest's room.

He made a phone call.

Gary was very surprised when he received the call.

He saw that it was from Ernest and picked up the call.

"Ernest?"

"Gary," Ernest was direct, "Are you the one who sent Cindy the email?"

Gary was taken aback. However, he didn't answer the question directly. Instead, he asked, "Did youmeet with Cindy?"

"So you're the one who did it," Ernest was certain that his assumption was correct.
