Chapter 1290

When Celeste came out, she realized that she had been too impulsive.

Ever since she had come to London, she felt as though she wasn't herself anymore. She wasconstantly on edge and worried over nothing.

It was too irresponsible for her to make such a conclusion based on her own speculations.

How could she be sure if she didn't seek confirmation for things?

Celeste's thoughts were all jumbled up.

Something in her heart was pounding loudly and her emotions were overflowing. Her lips weretightly pressed together, reflecting her frustration at herself.

Soon, her rationality came back to her.novelbin

Celeste couldn't back down.

She took a deep breath.

And another.

It was only after a long time that Celeste finally calmed down.

Just then, her phone rang, startling her. She vaguely remembered that her phone had been ringingfor a long time.

She took a look and found that it was from Maria.

Celeste answered it immediately and tried to make her voice sound normal. However, there was stilla hint of hoarseness in her voice.

"Maria."

"Oh, Celeste, thank God. You have finally answered the phone," Maria also heaved a sigh of relief,"Where have you been? We are all worried about you."

"Oh, sorry," Celeste hurriedly apologized, "I'm fine."

"Why did you suddenly go out?" Maria asked.

"I'll come back now," Celeste didn't explain and just said to Maria, "You don't have to worry. Give mehalf an hour."

"Okay," Maria was quick and did not question her further.

Celeste quickly hung up the phone.

She turned around and walked back, suppressing all her thoughts to the deepest depths of hermind. She knew that she had to pretend to be alright.

After making up her mind, she walked back quickly.

Half an hour later.

Celeste finally returned home.

Both Maria and Ernest were waiting anxiously. When they saw her, they instantly breathed a sigh ofrelief.

"It's good to have you back," Ernest's eyes fell on Celeste.

She ran out and ran back all the way. Her entire face was red from all the running, sweat dotting herforehead. She looked weaker and out of breath.

Ernest's eyes narrowed and he pursed his lips. Although there was a lot of suspicion in his eyes, hesuppressed it. Despite being a man of few words, he was glad.

Celeste looked up and didn't dare to look at them. She was afraid that her thoughts would beexposed. She forced a smile and said, "Sorry for making you worry. I didn't have time to tell you thatI was going out."

"Where did you go?" Maria came over and looked at her with much concern, "We were worriedabout you. We were afraid that something bad would happen to you since you're unfamiliar with thisplace."

There was no need to say more. Celeste could understand what she meant.

"I'm sorry," Celeste could only apologize. There was a trace of bitterness in her voice and shelooked like she was in a daze.

Maria looked at her carefully and realized that something had happened to her. It seemed thatCeleste was not in good shape.

"Celeste?" Maria wanted to ask but stopped instantly.

At that moment, Ernest interjected, "Maria, go upstairs with Celeste to rest. If there's anything, youtwo can talk it out."

Maria and Ernest exchanged looks. They had speculated a lot when they were looking for Celeste.

They both believed that this incident had something to do with Gary.

Perhaps she had quarrelled with Gary.

But Ernest did not say it out loud. Instead, he hinted it at Maria.

Now that Ernest knew how to not cross the line, Maria nodded and went upstairs with Celeste.

They went back to her room and closed the door.

Maria didn't beat around the bush and asked Celeste directly, "Celeste, did something happenbetween you and Gary? Did you two have a fight? Is that why you ran out?"

Celeste was stunned.

It turned out that Maria was thinking of this.

Celeste didn't know how to explain things to Maria. It just so happened that she had had a fight withGary this morning. If she used it as an excuse, it wouldn't be a lie since it did just happen.

She nodded gently.

"Did you really quarrel with each other?" Maria's eyes widened. Her face was full of astonishmentand worry.

Celeste nodded slowly. Her long eyelashes formed a silhouette on the underside of her eyelids, making her look very sad and lonely.

"Why?"

Celeste pursed her lips.

If her aunt really had something to do with Heinz and if she really was her aunt's illegitimatedaughter, that meant that she was related to Heinz. If that happened, wouldn't she be related toGary as well?

All those thoughts terrified her.

Fortunately, this morning, they had quarreled because of the news. She wanted to thank the newsfor giving them a reason to argue. With that, she could change her decisions freely.

She couldn't contact Gary anymore.

"Maria," Celeste looked into Maria's eyes. Her face was pale, but her tone was serious, "I didquarrel with Gary, and it wasn't on impulse. Because of that, I've decided to not contact himanymore."

"What?"

Maria was really shocked by her decision, "Are there any misunderstandings between you two?"

Celeste shook her head and said, "Be it a misunderstanding or not, we can't communicate witheach other. We shouldn't be in touch anymore."

Maria looked at Celeste's gorgeous features. The blush she had from a while ago had faded awayand was replaced by a pale and ashen expression. She looked frail but determination was bubblingin her gaze.

Maria was stunned by the announcement.

"Please think about it, Celeste," Maria truly felt that it was a pity and pleaded, "I know Gary's temperisn't the best, but you shouldn't take it to heart. Even though I know it's not right for me to persuadeyou, I really think that you two are suitable for each other."

"We aren't," Celeste shook her head. "Maria, we are only 16-year-olds."

She reminded Maria of their age. They were too young to fall in love.

Thinking that she might be the illegitimate daughter between Cindy and Mr. Heinz, Celeste felt as ifher heart had been torn into two. It suffocated her.

Maria stared at her for a while before compromising, "Well, this is your choice. You have the right tochoose what you like and dislike. I can't interfere with it."

"I'm sorry," Celeste felt sorry for not being able to tell Maria all her secrets.

"No, Celeste, you don't have to be sorry," Maria shook her head and tried to smile, "I'm the onewho's sorry. I've been setting you two up. Perhaps if it weren't for me, you wouldn't have thoughtabout such things so early. It's because of me that you're in such a mess."

Maria saw that Celeste's face was pale. Guilt welled up in her heart and she felt really apologetic.

Similarly, Celeste also felt guilty. This was because Maria had misunderstood everything, but shecould not tell her the truth. Maria even apologized to her.

She was a little angry at herself.

"Maria, I won't leave again. After the elders leave, I'll go back to my apartment or move into myaunt's house," Celeste decided to stay.

"You don't have to move," Maria explained quickly, "This place is spacious and cozy. Besides, myparents will be more assured if you are here. They will be more assured if there is a girlaccompanying their daughter, won't they? This is actually a win-win situation for everyone."

"I know," Celeste nodded, "It's just that my aunt said that she wanted to buy a new house nearby. Ifthat happens, I'll have to move."

"Oh," Maria still nodded, "If that's the case, then it's fine."

The two reached an understanding.

What they didn't know was that when Ernest returned to his room, he gave Gary a call.

Their conversation was a bit heated.

Ernest went straight to the point and asked, "Gary, did you have a fight with Celeste?"

Hearing Ernest's question, Gary frowned, "It's none of your business."

"I'm sure that you two have quarreled after listening to your tone and silent agreement," Ernest'stone was flat as he asked, "Why are you so angry over a rumor that has not been proven true?"

"I thought this had nothing to do with you," Gary's voice sounded cold, "I think you've crossed theline questioning me like this."

"Do you know that Celeste just ran out and refused to answer the phone or reply to our messages? We had lost touch with her," Ernest asked sharply, "Do you know how scary that is?"

Gary was stunned for a moment. Just then, he noticed Ernest's tone and use of tenses beforeasking, "You're telling me that Celeste ran away and came back again?"

Ernest was stunned by Gary's question and sighed helplessly, "Even now you're still thinking aboutthis. It seems that your logic still works when your emotions don't. I guess my call to you wasuseless."

Without saying anything else, Ernest hung up the phone.
