Chapter 1225

Zachary and Yvonne were standing by the door. The grandmother and granddaughter both felt theirpresence. Thus, they turned around and looked at them.

For a moment, Yvonne was extremely nervous.

Zachary shouted, "Mom, we are back."

Nerissa finally saw that someone was standing by her son's side. After so many years, he wasfinally no longer single. A smile flashed across Nerissa's face and she sprung up in an instant.

"You're back. We were waiting for you to have dinner together," Nerissa walked over with a smirk.

Yvonne instantly became even more nervous. She was at a loss for what to do.

Hence, she tried her best to put on a smile in an attempt to leave a good first impression and notembarrass herself.

"Yvonne, this is our mom," Zachary introduced Yvonne to Nerissa before exchanging formalities,"Mom, this is Yvonne."

Yvonne hurriedly nodded. The moment she saw that her mother-in-law had a warm smile as shestrode over, she was instantly moved.

Seeing Nerissa's smile on her face, Yvonne gained the courage and greeted her, "Mom."

Nerissa responded joyously.

Then, she grabbed Yvonne's hand and said, "My child, you have suffered a lot throughout all theseyears. Both Zachary and the Lowe family and Zachary owe you too much."

"It's fine, mom," Yvonne didn't expect her to say that. She was even more moved and hurriedlyshook her head.

"Don't stand there. Come in and sit down first. You are probably tired from such a long trip."

Yvonne hurriedly shook her head.

Nerissa's hand was warm and gentle, just like her personality.

Yvonne turned her gaze towards her daughter sitting on the couch and just stood there with asteady gaze.

Similarly, Maria was also rooted in place. It was as though she didn't recognise them at all.

Yvonne was a little tensed up. She looked at her and called out gently, "Maria!"

Maria suddenly sprung up from the sofa and sprinted towards the stairs to the second floor.

"Maria," Yvonne became anxious.

"Maria," Nerissa was also very surprised, "Didn't we make a deal? Why are you still so shy whenyou see your mom and dad?"

"Mom, I'll go upstairs to have a look," Zachary said.

Nerissa glanced at her son and suggested, "Take Yvonne together with you. Your room has beentidied up, and you two can go talk to Maria. Maria has already accepted it, so she might just be shy.Don't worry, everything is going to be fine."

Would it?

Yvonne was very suspicious.

She had a feeling that Maria was still blaming her. This child was still reluctant to forgive her andshe felt very guilty because of that as well.

Speaking of which, Nerissa was such a gentle person. The moment she stepped into the house,Nerissa had already taken her feelings into consideration although it was their first time meeting.Yvonne was touched by such actions.

"Alright. Yvonne, follow me," Zachary said to Yvonne.

Nerissa personally handed Yvonne's hand to Zachary and said to them, "You guys can bring thechild down here first. After comforting her, we will discuss your wedding over dinner. We mustn'tmiss anything." "Thank you, mom," Yvonne said through tears. She was really touched.

Zachary nodded and took Yvonne upstairs.

When they reached upstairs and the moment she swung open the door, she saw how humongousZachary's room was. The bed was huge with a brand new red quilt, and the room was decorated ina festive wedding theme.

Zachary burst into laughter, "They've bought such a big bed. My mom seems to love us a lot toknow that we will need such a huge bed."

"What are you talking about?" Yvonne smacked him abashedly. She looked at the corridor outsideworriedly and said, "Which room is Maria's? I want to see her."

"She's in the next room. I'll talk to her first."

"Let me go," Yvonne was earnest, "Maria may be really shy. Even though your mom asked us to gotogether, I still wish to have a personal conversation with her. Maria and I had gone through a lot ofthings together, while you and your mom had also helped me a lot. I think it's time I take the leap offaith and take the initiative to talk to this child of mine. I believe she can understand."

"I'm just worried,” Zachary was straightforward about his worries. After all, this child had a lot inmind, and he was afraid that Yvonne might be hurt by her words.

"It's not like I'm her stepmother, so what are you worried about? She is a part of me, so we willeventually reconcile." Yvonne comforted him instead.

Zachary hesitated for a moment before finally nodding, "Alright, go ahead. If you can't, I'll persuadeher."

"Okay."

Yvonne quickly went to the next room. When she arrived at the door, she knocked on the door andwaited for her daughter's response with an uneasy feeling.

It was deathly quiet.

No one answered the door.

When Zachary saw this, he immediately grabbed the door handle.

The door was unlocked.

A slight push opened the door immediately.

Yvonne and Zachary were both dumbfounded. This was probably an act of acceptance by Maria.

Yvonne mustered up her courage.

She walked in.

She saw Maria sitting on the edge of the bed, with her back to her.

Yvonne walked over and softly called out to her, "Maria?"novelbin

Maria did not respond.

Yvonne whispered again, "Maria?"

Yet, there was no reply.

Yvonne walked over to her side and squatted down. Only then did she discover that Maria's headwas lowered. Her shoulders were trembling violently.

From the looks of it, she must be crying.

Yvonne's heart jolted and she felt immensely guilty. She held onto Maria's small hand and said in asoft voice, "Maria dear?"

"Mommy," The little girl burst into tears and threw herself into Yvonne's embrace, muttering,"Mommy, you almost died, didn't you?"

Yvonne immediately froze. It seemed that her child knew that she was ill.

"Mommy, I didn't know you were sick. I thought you wanted to abandon me. I thought you wouldnever want to see me again after you left."

"How is that possible?" Yvonne shook her head, "You're my precious baby, so I won't abandon you.I'm the one who should be sorry. I shouldn't have just left you and let you suffer so much."

Maria wrapped her arms around Yvonne's neck tightly and did not let go. It was as if she wasplanning to hold onto Yvonne for eternity.

Yvonne felt extremely glad. Her daughter was kind and understanding. Once she found out thatYvonne was ill, she immediately forgave her.

Yvonne added softly, "Maria, I am fine. Now, I will never leave you again. In the future, no matterwhere I go, I'll tell you and Dad. I won't leave without saying anything again, okay?"

"Okay," Only then did Maria raise her head. Her face looked so cute despite the streams of tearsrunning down her face. Her daughter was indeed a little beauty. She suddenly asked, "Mommy, areyou going to marry Dad?"

"We're already married," Yvonne grinned, "We have already gotten our marriage certificate. So fromnow on, we will never leave you."

"That's great!" Maria hugged Yvonne again.

Meanwhile, Zachary was waiting outside the door.

He was full of smiles as he watched the two of them hugging.

This was a perfect ending for all of them.

He could already foresee his wife, his daughter and even his own hopeful future.

Zachary gazed at the two of them deeply for a while. Then, he turned around and went downstairsto talk with his mother. This was truly a happy family.

In the future, he would take good care of these three ladies and ensure that they would all be happyand content.

Carrying these beliefs, Zachary went downstairs with a much lighter pace.
