Chapter 1224

"Of course. Who else could it be?" Madam Elaine looked at Yvonne in disgust.

Yvonne replied, "We did not give him a single penny, nor do we intend on giving him any money inthe future."

Madam Elaine nodded and seemed to agree with their decision.

This made Zachary and Yvonne a little surprised.

Yvonne spoke again, "Grandma, Zachary says that he will give you a monthly allowance. He willtransfer it into your bank account directly and you can go to the bank to withdraw it."

The moment Madam Elaine heard this, she stopped in her steps and immediately refused thesuggestion, "I don't want it."

Yvonne was taken aback.

Yvonne looked at Madam Elaine who insisted, "No, I don't want it."

"Grandma," Yvonne had never thought that her grandma would reject her proposal.

Zachary took the opportunity to convince her, "This is your living expenses that you rightfullydeserve. According to Yvonne, Benjamin has been sucking much of your money and you don't havemuch left."

However, Madam Elaine only sighed, "Bring me back home."

Yvonne and Zachary sent her home together.

Soon, they arrived at the car and got in.

Madam Elaine didn't say a word and seemed to be abnormally silent.

Zachary drove the car while Yvonne sat in the back with Madam Elaine.

When they arrived at the Attwood family's house and parked the car in the alley, Yvonne andZachary helped her up the stairs.

A while later, they finally entered the house.

Suddenly, they found that the house was in a mess.

What was going on?

Yvonne jumped with alarm, "Grandma, was your house robbed?"

"It's harder to guard against a family member than a robber or a thief."

" Was it my father?" Yvonne was shocked.

"He came and asked me for money. It was most likely that he could not afford his daily expenses.

But I am different from him. I can continue surviving in this small little house. I don't need anymoney. If you really want to help me, then take care of yourselves. This house can no longerprovide you with anything."

"Grandma!" Yvonne cried out softly.

"I'll be frank to you and your husband. The reason why I dislike you is not because you're mygranddaughter, it's because of your mother."

Yvonne was stupefied.

Madam Elaine continued, "I don't want to talk about the past anymore. Anyways, all of us are livingquite a peaceful life now. It's already a miracle that you got married. At the very least, it won't be soawkward when I meet your Grandpa up there later."

"Grandma!" Yvonne shouted again.novelbin

Madam Elaine urged, "You guys can head back now."

"Grandma," Yvonne's heart ached. After all, she still had feelings for her grandmother. Even thoughshe didn't treat her the best, Yvonne had grown up with her since she was small. How could Yvonnebear to leave her in this place?

Zachary immediately suggested, "Follow us to Northern City."

Madam Elaine was dumbfounded and suddenly smiled. Her eyes teared up as she chuckled, "Nothanks. I'm very touched by your intentions, but I have sinned and I shall reap what I sow. This iskarma, sooner or later you will get what you deserve."

"Just follow us. You will still get what you deserve in Northern City. There, you'll be forced to stare atYvonne daily. That doesn't sound too bad either."

Madam Elaine turned to look at Zachary and frowned.

Zachary didn't care and continued, "Don't frown. You already have many wrinkles between yourbrows. If you're really worried about that disappointing son of yours, I advise you to leave and comewith us to Northern City. Let him learn and grow up by himself."

Madam Elaine was taken aback. She glanced at the mess in the house. The gifts sent by Zacharythe day before as well as all the home appliances were taken away.

Madam Elaine mocked in a tone of self-deprecation, "I'll just be a burden to you if I go."

"I, Zachary Lowe, really aren't that petty."

Madam Elaine scoffed, "It's just money. What is there to be so proud of?"

"No," Zachary shook his head seriously and added, "I have a heart made of gold. This is far moreimportant than money."

Madam Elaine was taken aback for a moment before she shook her head and ultimately refusedagain, "Forget it, I think I'll continue to stay here. Everyone has their own fate, and this is mine."

"But...!" Zachary wanted to continue persuading her, but he was interrupted by Yvonne.

"Zachary, just respect Grandma's decision," Yvonne didn't want to force Madam Elaine. She knewthat some things had to be of free will. If not, all good intent would be meaningless.

Zachary understood what Yvonne meant. He nodded and said, "Okay, it's up to you."

"You can go back now," With that, Madam Elaine picked up a broom and was ready to sweep thefloor.

Zachary still wanted to say something, but Yvonne nodded and replied, "If that's the case, well goback first. Goodbye, Grandma."

She grabbed Zachary and left quickly.

The room fell into silence after the door was shut.

Madam Elaine held the broom and was rooted in place for a very long while.

Downstairs, Zachary grabbed Yvonne's hand and said, "Yvonne, I'm confident that I can persuadeGrandma. Just give me a little longer. Maybe she wants to live with us in Northern City."

"I know, Zachary," Yvonne sighed, "But it's unreasonable. Let's wait and we will discuss this someother time."

She did not want all this to be a burden to Zachary. She refused to become a burden when she wasnot strong enough to stand on her own.

This was her selfish motive.

"Yvonne, do you have any concerns?" Zachary finally noticed Yvonne's hesitation.

Yvonne shook her head, "I don't. Zachary, let's go."

"If you are worried about it, we can wait until you have reconciled with Maria before making adecision about this," Zachary felt that she had too many things to worry about. Thus, this was notthe right time to discuss it.

As a result, this matter was put on hold for the moment.

The time they spent in Southland was full of love and affection. They finally made up for what theywere supposed to do eight years ago.

A week after.

They stayed in Southland for one whole week before they decided to head back to Northern City.

During this period of time, Benjamin had been trying to reach out to them, only to be rejectedconstantly.

Before leaving, they went to bid farewell to Madam Elaine, but she was indifferent and calm.

Before Zachary left, he gave her two different bank accounts and she didn't refuse it either.

Back in Northern City.

They came back by car, enjoying the scenery all the way back to Northern City.

Yvonne was about to go back to her apartment, but Zachary suggested, "Let's go home."

"Home?" Yvonne was bewildered.

"Yes, go home. Maria should have returned home from school and my mom asked us to head homedirectly. In other words, you will be staying at home tonight."

Yvonne suddenly grew nervous, "When did you decide this? Why am I unaware of this?"

She was very anxious. It was the first time meeting her mother-in-law.

"I've made this decision back in Southland but I wanted to give you a surprise. Hence, I didn't tellyou."

This was not only a pleasant surprise but also a shock.

She nervously glanced at Zachary and said, "How can I go back looking like this? Should I dressup?" "No need. This is the real you. You don't need to dress up anymore since you are already verybeautiful."

Yvonne was still feeling uneasy as she followed Zachary back to the Lowe family manor.

As soon as she entered, she saw Maria sitting in the living room reading a book. She was seated onthe couch with a middle- aged woman as they read a book silently together.

Yvonne had never witnessed Maria behaving in such a manner.
