Chapter 703

No matter what, he was still a child. Madelyn could not just leave him crying incessantly like this, 'What

is Zach thinking? It's too absurd to bring a baby home like this.'

After reaching the nearest hospital, the baby was taken to the emergency room immediately. Kevin

followed with two large bags of baby supplies.novelbin

They waited outside the emergency room. After examination, the doctor said, "The child has a high

fever and has been sick for quite a few days. His condition is serious, and he needs treatment at the

hospital. Given his weak condition, it's uncertain whether he can pull through."

"Okay, thank you."

The baby was taken into the intensive care unit. For the first time, Madelyn felt Zach was acting

particularly childish, 'What on earth was he thinking?'

Kevin left to handle the hospital admission procedures, and Madelyn waited at the entrance. The baby

needed someone to watch over him, so she could not leave. The child had a fever of 40 degrees; the

doctor said whether he could survive tonight depended entirely on fate.

Suddenly, a police officer in a black uniform and a woman approached. Madelyn stood up.

The police officer said, "We checked the surveillance footage. She abandoned the child."

The woman, who appeared to be in her forties or fifties, said anxiously, "Oh my! Sir, Madam, I'm really

innocent in this matter. Look. How could I give birth at this age? This child isn't mine. I found him in the

trash today. I had no choice but to leave him at the entrance of the orphanage."

Madelyn asked, "Can't you trace where this child came from?"

The police officer said, "We reviewed the surveillance footage along the way, but we couldn't find the

person who abandoned the child. Several cameras on Chapel Street were broken, and the cameras at

crucial locations didn't record anything. It's going to be very difficult to trace the person. So..."

The implication was clear. Madelyn turned to leave, but Zach firmly grasped her wrist and said, "Thank

you. We'll handle it ourselves."

The police officer said, "My pleasure, Mr. Jardin."

After they left, Madelyn could not free herself from his grasp. So, she said to Zach expressionlessly,

"You brought this child back. It's your responsibility, not mine."

"You want a child. We can adopt him, and he will be our child."

Madelyn looked at him in disbelief for a few seconds. Then, she raised her hand and struck him across

the face in trembling anger, "Do you know what you're saying? Do you realize that you're already

married?! If you want a child, you can have Yvonne birth one for you. I have no say in your adoption,

but I will not accept a child of unknown origin. He's not my child, and he's definitely not ours."

'Is it because of what I said last night?'

Not far away, Yvonne watched the scene unfold. She wore her backpack and stopped as she entered.

She was here to visit Ethan and happened to pass by. However, she did not expect to witness Madelyn

physically confront Zach.

Zach's reaction was unexpected to Yvonne. He did not get angry or upset. 'Is Zach indulging her now?'

Yvonne thought Zach treated everyone the same, regardless of who they were.
