They thoroughly searched every corner of Ventropolis, tracing the route to Marisburg, and did notoverlook any neighboring cities. Upon receiving the missing persons case, police stations receivedorders, and officers mobilized immediately.

Kai assisted him with the medication. Just then, Kevin entered, holding something in his hand. “Mr.Jardin, there’s news.”
Zach opened his bloodshot eyes, filled with exhaustion. “Tell me!”
Kevin said, “This bag belongs to Ms. Jent. Yesterday’s investigation revealed that Ms. Jent did give ataxi driver five hundred dollars to drive to Southgate City. It’s about a hundred kilometers fromMarisburg, nearly an hour’s drive. This bag was also found in Marisburg by a sanitation worker andhanded over to the police. After checking, the police found Ms. Jent’s fingerprints, but there were alsoothers. We suspect someone might have kidnapped her.”
A flash of murderous intent crossed Zach’s eyes instantly, chilling. “Where is she now?”
Kevin replied, “The cops are currently checking surveillance cameras everywhere. We should havenews soon.”
“I want to know where she is within the hour.” The intensity of Zach’s emotions exacerbated hiswounds, causing him to cough.
Kai quickly restrained him, “Don’t move, be careful of your wound.”
Kevin’s phone suddenly buzzed. He looked at the message and immediately reported to Zach,” Mr.Jardin, there’s news. Ms. Jent stayed at a hotel recently. The police are on their way there now.”
Zach showed a worried expression. He lifted the blanket, swiftly tearing off the intravenous driphanging from his hand. “Kevin, get the car ready. I’m going to find her.”
Kai stopped him immediately. “You finally brought your fever down, but it’s starting again. And now youwant to rush to Southgate City with a high fever? Do you even want to live?”
Kai knew his words would not sway him much. Just then, Zach pushed away the person trying to stophim. However, unexpectedly, he stopped as he reached the doorway. He felt a darkness enveloping hisvision. In a moment, his entire body fell backward. Kevin quickly helped and steadied him.novelbin
Kai helped him switch the intravenous drip to his other hand and said to Kevin, “Keep an eye on thingsin Southgaté City for now. I’ll take care of Zach. Hopefully, Maddie will be in front of him when heawakes. Otherwise, his condition will get worse.”
Kevin pressed his thin lips, then answered, “Okay.”
That was the only thing they could do now.
They reviewed all the surveillance footage in Southgate City and saw Madelyn getting out of a vehicleand entering an alley with no cameras. The landlady inside was also being questioned in theinterrogation room.
The hotel’s landlady trembled as she spoke, “The person in the photo did stay at my place for a night,but she left around three or four in the morning. I even returned her deposit personally. If you don’tbelieve me, you can check my surveillance.”
When the police checked the surveillance, they found out the cameras had broken long ago and couldnot find any information. When the time had come, they had no choice but to release the hotel’slandlady.
