Chapter 48
Chapter 48 – A safer future.
LIAM
After Valerie left Bryan went to rest. He had been exhausted after the rejection of his fated mate but
kept telling us he is fine and doesn’t
regret his choice. Mom left too, probably tomorrow to the kitchen or to take care of Bryan. Laura looks
up at me and smiles, I bend down and kiss her softly. I take her hand and lead her upstairs, and open
the door into the twin’s room, looking at the twins sleeping.
“They are here, and they are safe,” I whisper in her ear, and she nods her head.
After checking on the twins we leave to go to my office. And we begin to work on plans for the majornovelbin
problems we have with rouges attacking other packs. Laura helps me make a timeline of when and
where attacks have been. We also play a little with a plan to get a spy. But it is dangerous
and should only be someone with no family.
“We could ask mate-less wolves if any want to
volunteer, that way no one is forced into it.” She says softly
“We could. But we also need to be sure it‘s someone we can trust.” I answer.
After a long time, of talking and planning, we made a list, and out
of that list picked the 5 that I know the best and trust more than other. We agreed that I alone should ca
ll them in for a meeting. And see if two o fthem would be up for, going undercover in the rouge camps a
nd trying to find out who is behind all the increasing attacks.
We stand up and I walk over to put my arms around Laura. I wish and hope I can give her a safer futur
e. I will do just about anything to keep her and all our kids safe. I will be a little more relaxed
after the next full moon so Zara is safer. I let her go, and as she walks to take care of the
kids and spend time with Cora. And I leave to find the 5 warriors I am going to have a private meeting w
ith.
LAURA
I found Cora, and we took the kids outside. And Rosa comes to join us
with snacks and lemonade. Sitting in the grass we look at the kids playing on the grass. Zara keeps tryi
ng to snuggle into Kai who has a look of horror in his eyes because Zach looks at him with dominating
eyes. Honestly, it is a little fun to watch.
Cora tells us that Mack had gotten her a new phone and number because she kept getting calls from M
iles. He was telling her that, she as an old packmember had a responsibility to help him. however, Cora
just laughed at him and told him to go fuck himself.
Thate how Miles found out where I was. How he had lied and told everyone I was
dead. But at least | know that now my dad
and Cora know the truth. I am sorry my dad lost his fated mate. But I am happy to have my father back.
A yelp gets my attention and I look over at the kids. Kai is clutching his arm, Kai had been tickling Zara,
and Zack wanting to help her, to protect her had bitten Kai‘s arm. We rush over to them, Zara now cryi
ng, and blood running
from the bite Rosa rushes inside with Kai to clean the bite and bandage it, while Cora and I take the twi
ns.
“I am so sorry I tell Cora and Kai.” But Kai shakes his little head.
“He didn‘t mean it, we were just playing,” Kai says, not even blaming or being mad at Zach.
Rosa finishes cleaning his arm and gives him a hug.
“You are a good boy Kai.” And he smiles big with pride. Before looking at me.
“Zara is special, she needs me and
Zach to protect her. So I am not angry.” He tells me, making me look shocked at the two
other women. Cora hugs Kai and asks him.
“How do you know that she is special Kai.” He shrugs his shoulders.
“The woman with white hair told me in a dream. She said I need to help keep Zara safe. And never
leave her.” We look shocked at each other. Could it be that the Moon–goddess had spoken to little Kai?
“We will keep her safe, all of us,” I promise him and he nods. So much is being done to keep my little gi
rl safe. And if Kai‘s dream wasn‘t just a dream, is he maybe her mate? We won‘t know until they are old
enough. But it is calming to know that so many people and things are done to give my little girl a safe f
uture.
Later that night when I and Liam have gone to bed, I tell him about today. He is just like us shocked but
also happy. And he looks at me with a smile.
“If that is really the case, I will make sure both Kai and Zach will have the training and that they will be t
he best ever. And also Zara should train so that she can protect herself.” He says and kisses me softly
on the lips before kissing my belly.
“And this little guy will also be trained. To protect not only his sister but our people. But until they are all
old enough, I will do anything in my power to keep you all safe. You and our kids are my life.” He tells
me pulling me into his arms to his safety. And I fall asleep feeling protected and happy.
