Chapter 95 Regret

"Chris! What... what are you doing?" Ranita was so scared that she even hiccuped, and she calledChris by his first name.

Chris chuckled twice and found Ranita a little cute.

He poked Ranita's forehead with his hand. "What are you thinking about? I called Steve, and heasked me to prepare some warm water for you. He'll be here in about fifteen minutes."

"Is that okay?"novelbin

Ranita felt embarrassed by what he said and nodded quickly. "Yes, it's fine."

"I'm going out now. Let me know if you need anything!" Chris paused for a moment before adding,"Your clean clothes are on the shelf."

Chris left but thoughtfully closed the door behind him! Ranita locked the door with her weak legs, washed her face with water while holding it in her hands, and splashed cold water on her skin toclear her mind a bit.

The bathtub was filled with warm water. After taking off her clothes, Ranita soaked herself in it andimmediately felt extremely comfortable! The effect of the medicine had probably worn off somewhat;as she became more sober-minded again, everything that had happened between Brendon andherself became clearer.

"Oh no! What am I going to do?" Ranita felt like she was going crazy. However, at that time underthose circumstances there wasn't much control over what happened!

Ranita's mood was complicated.

"Knock knock!" There came a knocking sound from outside the door, "Ranita, Steve is here."

"Okay! I'm coming out now!" Ranita responded and quickly got out of the bathtub. As she driedherself off, she noticed the marks on her skin, which only added to her complex emotions.

After getting dressed and composing herself, she finally opened the door and went out. Steve, whilechecking on her, asked, "Feeling better now?"

Chris wasn't stupid, and he could tell that something was off with Ranita's state of mind. Steve, being a doctor, also understood what was going on, but neither of them asked too many questions.

"I'm feeling better!"

Steve paused for a moment and saw that Ranita's mental state had indeed improved significantly."I'll give you a shot, so rest well! Come to the hospital tomorrow and I'll do a detailed examinationfor you."

"If you still feel uncomfortable at night, take another bath. But don't use water that's too cold." Infact, using cool water would be more effective. However, since Ranita was pregnant it wouldn't begood to soak in cold water; it wouldn't be worth the risk if she caught a cold.

"Thank you Dr. Pearson!" Ranita said before turning to Chris, "And thank you Mr. Webster!"

"Don't mention it! I have some things to attend to so I'll leave first." Chris politely excused himselfwhile Ranita wanted to see him off but was stopped by Steve, "Don't tire yourself out. Rest well!"

"I'll just walk out with Chris then!"

Ranita was exhausted and almost fell asleep as soon as she touched the bed. However, her sleepwasn't very peaceful because all she could dream about were Brendon's strong arms and sturdychest.

...

Shannon was still angry with Brendon; she wanted him to explain himself but waited all nightwithout hearing from him.

Finally unable to bear it any longer, Shannon swept everything off her desk in frustration.

Fortunately, tonight's events hadn't leaked yet. If people who attended the banquet found out aboutthem, they would surely laugh at her!

"Ranita!" Shannon gritted her teeth when suddenly her phone rang. It was one of her friends fromKurima contacting her.

"Shannon, is this Chris?" This girl also came from an affluent family but not on the level of the Stuartor Webster families like Shannon did. They had met several times before and even added eachother as friends on social media so this message might have been sent just for gossip purposes.

"My friend saw him holding onto another woman over here while we were playing around," Themessage included an attached picture as proof.
