Chapter 5237

Charlie realized that Julian Davis must be guarding some important secrets, otherwise he wouldn’t beso cautious.

With this in mind, he proposed, “Mr. Davis, if it’s convenient for you, I can take you and Xion to a placethat’s absolutely safe after the wedding.”

“Okay,” Julian Davis nodded eagerly.

“But my time is limited.

I planned to rush back to Eastcliff after the noon wedding.

I have a live broadcast at seven in the evening, and the program group will hold a regular meeting atsix.

I need to be back at the station before six.”

Charlie thought for a moment before replying, “Well, after the wedding at 12:30, you’ll be seated for themeal first.

I’ll have the helicopter ready, and we can head to the safe location after you finish eating.

It’ll take us ten minutes to get there by helicopter…”

“Once we’re finished, you can take the helicopter directly to the airport from the safe location.

I’ll arrange for a special plane to take you back to Eastcliff so that you won’t be late for work at night.”

Julian Davis smiled and gave a nod of agreement.

“Then, I’ll be with you,” he said.

Xion was surprised to see that the two of them had some sort of relationship and decided not tointerrupt.

Instead, she suggested, “Uncle, if it’s convenient for you, let’s discuss the wedding process with Mr.Wade.”

Julian Davis quickly agreed and said with a smile, “Sure, Mr. Wade, let’s talk about it.”

Charlie interrupted and corrected him, “You’re my father’s friend.

Please call me Charlie, no need for formalities.

Just Charlie is fine.”

Julian Davis nodded and smiled, “I know, even though we’ve never met before, I’m familiar with yourname.”

As he spoke, he pulled out a piece of paper and handed it to Charlie. “Here’s the rundown for thewedding ceremony.

I’ll go up on stage first, followed by the groom.

We’ll exchange a few words, and then the bride will make her grand entrance, accompanied by herfather…”novelbin

“There will be a moment when the father hands off the bride to the groom, and then the two will step uponto the stage together.

And, of course, as the officiant, you’ll be ready to join us on stage.”

Charlie nodded and said, “Got it, I understand.”

Julian Davis then asked, “Have you prepared your speech as the officiant?”

Charlie nodded confidently, “I have some ideas already in my head.”

Julian Davis flashed a smile and said, “We don’t have too many guests today, just close relatives of thebride and groom.

We don’t want to go over the top with anything sensational.

I was thinking we should keep it warm and solemn, but if your speech leans towards the dramatic, I canmake some adjustments to suit your style.”

Charlie smiled back and replied, “To be honest, I’m not very skilled at creating a dramatic atmosphere,so let’s stick with your original plan for a solemn and warm ceremony.”

“Okay, I agree,” Julian Davis nodded in agreement.

***

The clock struck 12, and the wedding ceremony officially began.

Julian Davis, as the Master of Ceremonies, opened the ceremony, and soon after, Zayne, looking sharpin his suit, stepped onto the main stage.

During his exchange with Julian Davis, Zayne didn’t hold back, telling the tale of how he met Kairi, herdaughter Xion, and how he came to the decision to propose.

He expressed his shame to Kairi and Xion, and his gratitude to Charlie.

He spoke openly, saying, “Today, I want to take the opportunity to sincerely thank Mr. Wade.

Without his help, tolerance, and even punishment of me, the Banks Family would have found it difficultto find a suitable opportunity to truly calm down and think about what we wanted.

It was in this process that I realized that what I want isn’t just money and power.

I desire an ordinary life, filled with simple happiness.”

Zayne’s words struck a chord with Fitz, the best man, who found himself nodding in agreementrepeatedly.

Without Charlie’s tough love, Fitz and his father would have continued living in their arrogant andconceited ways, self-righteous and complacent.

Lord Banks, the patriarch of the Banks Family, watched as his eldest son and grandson wereseemingly afflicted with Stockholm Syndrome by Charlie’s influence.

He couldn’t help but inwardly curse, “What a waste! He could have been the head of the family, butnow he’s just a puppet to Charlie. And he’s grateful for it? Charlie put him under house arrest at theElm’s house, and he’s still thankful? And what about me? Charlie sent me to Madagascar to feedgiraffes.

Should I be grateful to him too?”

After scolding Zayne, Lord Banks turned his ire towards Fitz, grinding his teeth in secret.

“Fitz, you’re just as useless! You’ve been kowtowing to Charlie for half a year, without even wanting tokill him.

And yet you’re still grateful to him? What kind of Banks are you?”

Lord Banks was feeling aggrieved, and it showed on his face.

Charlie, who was seated not far from him, noticed the old man’s sour expression and asked, “Mr.Banks, you don’t seem to be in a good mood.

Is something bothering you?”

Lord Banks quickly replied, “No, no, I’m perfectly fine, Mr. Wade.

Why do you ask?”

Charlie smiled, “Well, I can see you’re gritting your teeth, looking unhappy.

I don’t know who could have offended you.”

Trying to mask his unease, Lord Banks waved his hands dismissively and said with a smile, “Oh no, I’mjust a proud father, so happy to see my son marrying Kairi today.

My teeth are just bothering me a bit.

You know, I’m getting older, and some of my implants aren’t as well-behaved as they used to be.”

Charlie chuckled at Lord Banks’ explanation and quipped, “Ah, here I was thinking you were unhappywith me.”

Lord Banks’ face turned pale with fright at Charlie’s remark.

He quickly replied, “How could that be! Mr. Wade, you are a great benefactor to our Banks Family.

We are forever grateful to you…”

In truth, Lord Banks didn’t dare to express any dissatisfaction with Charlie, let alone think aboutdisobedience or confrontation.

He knew all too well that in the current situation, his son and grandson had no ability to resist, whethertheir expressions were sincere or not.

His anger stemmed from Zayne’s compliments towards Charlie during the ceremony.

Fitz, too, kept nodding along as if he were repeating the words, ‘my dad said it well.

Right!’

Lord Banks seethed with anger towards the two for not being up to date, but he never dared to showany temper towards Charlie.

Just then, Julian Davis took to the stage and spoke solemnly, “After hearing about the relationshipbetween the groom and the bride, it’s clear they’ve missed each other for far too long.

From this day forward, I hope they’ll never miss each other again.

And now, we invite our most beautiful bride to come on stage and shine!”

With that, the solemn and sacred music began to play as the main entrance of the banquet hallopened.

Kairi, dressed in her wedding gown and accompanied by her father, walked down the T-shaped stage, bathed in the beautiful background music.
