When the thick stack of manila folders landed in her hands, Dorothy had an inkling that a trip to theoptician was in order once she returned to Eldora City.
“Make sure to give it a thorough look. We can’t afford any slip–ups! I might be able to help you doublecheck if I have the time after finishing my work, otherwise we’re gonna have to go with what you got!”
“Got it.”
Dorothy took a deep breath, put on her glasses, and started cross–checking from the first section ofmarket research.
Once she got started, she was stuck in it for hours.

It wasn’t until Everett and Kevin’s group finished their meeting and c
The sudden influx of unfamiliar colleagues into her room left Dorothy feeling a bit awkward. And sheworried that someone sharp might notice she hadn’t slept there the night before.
But Everett seemed completely unfazed. He strode over to her side, eyes falling on the pile ofdocuments.
“Just do your best.” He said, acknowledging the enormous amount of paperwork that would likelyexhaust her.
“Mm” Dorothy nodded, deliberately trying to put some distance between them.
Nobody had been picturing things until he suddenly broke the silence with a low voice..
“Did you have breakfast?”
Now Kevin was also looking their way! The managers and assistants behind him all turned to look aswell,
“If you have a stomachache, it will affect your work.” Everett said
Everett’s expression was natural as if it was a natural thing to be concerned about Dorothy, andeveryone else was simply making a fuss over nothing
“Til take care of it. It won’t delay the progress.”
“Mm.” He gave a light nod, then pointed to a spot in the documents “Here, the R&D investment ofGenesis Creations Inc. is pretty vague. Usually, there are problems behind such reports.”
Dorothy nodded and made a note of it with a pencil.
Kevin, who was standing behind them, cleared his throat, “Mr. Lopez, I think I’ll take the managers tomy room for a due diligence summary. Call me if you need anything”
“Sure.”
Kevin quickly ushered everyone out upon getting the green light
The moment the door closed, Dorothy finally let out a breath of relief.
He looked at her and chuckled. “What are you nervous about?”
What do you think? She wanted to demand.
She gave a wry smile, “Kevin usually describes you as someone who doesn’t get close to women, butyou’ve been hanging around me quite a bit recently. I’m worried they’ll get the wrong idea.”
“There’s nothing to get the wrong idea about.”
Dorothy watched as he calmly started unbuttoning his shirt, revealing his pale chest one button at atime.
She quickly looked away; her voice was filled with panic, “What, what are you doing?”novelbin
“i spilled coffee on my sleeve during the meeting. I’m going to change.” Everett started undressingnonchalantly, making Dorothy’s shyness an overreaction.
She could only lower her head, wishing she could bury herself in the documents.
Thankfully, Everett quickly grabbed a change of clothes and went into the bathroom, otherwiseDorothy’s neck would’ve been in pain from all the caning!
Listening to the sound of running water from the bathroom, she rubbed her temples and felt aheadache coming on.
Everett had a car accident and went abroad for a business trip right after that. He was clearly trying todistance himself from her probably intending to break the contract. But why hadn’t he mentionedanything since he came back?
Maybe he had another argument with Heather?
So that was why he returned to Lumina Bay from Verdant City alone?
