Chapter 482

Chapter 482

Jealousy flashed in Fiona’s eyes as she looked at Rosalie’s purple gown.

Previously, she had taken a liking to a purple gown in Calvin’s collection, but he was unwilling to give itto her and instead. told her to pick another one from the store.

When Fiona chose a purple one, Calvin casually remarked that the color didn’t suit her complexion, causing her to ultimately switch to a beige gown.

However, right now, Rosalie was dressed in purple, which was practically akin to a slap in the face forFiona.

“Rosalie, Calvin is also wondering why you and Mr. Youngblood are back together again. Didn’t youguys break up already?” Fiona pretended to be genuinely concerned. “Is there a misunderstandinghere, or is it that your life hasn’t been going well. since you left him, so you couldn’t resist returning tohis side?”

Fiona deliberately tried to suggest that Rosalie had only gotten back together with Jonathan becauseJonathan was accustomed to a life of luxury, and Rosalie couldn’t bear to give up materialisticpleasures after leaving Jonathan.

Fiona believed her implication was subtle and skillful, but she failed to consider how atrocious herwords sounded to the ears of the other three people present.

“I can handle my affairs. You needn’t bother, Fiona,” Rosalie replied coldly.

“How could I not? You’re my younger cousin. If I don’t care about you, then who should I care about?”Fiona kept up her pretense.

“Then, how about we talk about some of our childhood memories, Fiona?”

As soon as Rosalie said that, Fiona’s face immediately changed. Fiona understood that Rosalie wasreferring to the incident where Rosalie saved Calvin when they were young.

The current Fiona couldn’t be certain who Calvin would believe if Rosalie brought that up.

“Though we didn’t get along well as children, it doesn’t mean I don’t care about you. After all, we’rerelatives,” said Fiona softly.

“Is that so? Relatives, you say?” Jonathan’s voice rang out sarcastically, and he fixed his cold gaze onFiona.

Fiona instinctively shuddered, feeling as if Jonathan had seen through her. Subconsciously, she movedbehind Calvin, seeking refuge.

Calvin furrowed his brows and said to Jonathan, “Fiona is just concerned about her cousin. There’s noneed to frighten her.”

Jonathan’s icy gaze met Calvin’s. “We both know that she isn’t.”

Calvin said nothing to that. Indeed, having seen people from all walks of life, he could naturally discernthat Fiona had no genuine concern for Rosalie at all.

However, Fiona was the person he had been looking for all along. She was his savior. On such anoccasion, he naturally had to defend her.

“I won’t let you touch her,” Calvin proclaimed.

“I could say the same to you,” retorted Jonathan.

Yet, the duo’s intentions were completely different. Calvin didn’t want Jonathan to take his anger out onFiona and harm her, while Jonathan’s words were meant to prevent Calvin from making a move onRosalie and occupying her emotions and thoughts.

The two men stared down at each other.

Fiona was secretly overjoyed at this moment, wondering, “Is Calvin… actually protecting me now? Sureenough, I still have a place in his heart!” With this thought in mind, she couldn’t help but glance atRosalie provocatively and smugly.

She thought, “So what if Rosalie was the one who really saved Calvin in the past? The person he caresabout now is me, Fiona Haberly!”

All Rosalie could feel was absurdity upon seeing Fiona’s provocative gaze.

She mused, “Turns out, sometimes, those who intrude on someone else’s territory actually truly believethey are the rightful. owners.” Regardless, with things having evolved into the current state, she didn’twant to say anything more about it.

It was her own decision not to speak up in the beginning. Therefore, at this point, she didn’t feel anyregret about it.

“I think I’d best get going first,” Rosalie said to Jonathan.

“All right.” Jonathan smiled faintly. Anyway, his purpose today had been achieved.

He had only brought her here today simply to let others see her and make it known to the upper-classcoterie that she belonged to him, for this would naturally discourage others from daring to harm her.

Of course, his other purpose was to let Calvin know that she had returned to his side, thus stoppingCalvin from having further intentions of pursuing her.novelbin

Jonathan led Rosalie away and was about to walk toward the exit of the banquet.

But before they could take more than a couple of steps, Calvin’s hand swiftly gripped Rosalie’s wrist, making her come to a halt.

“Since you no longer love him, why are you still with him?” Calvin questioned Rosalie while staringfixedly at her as if he was determined to obtain an answer.

“This is my business! Mr. Gunner, you don’t seem to have the right to ask, do you?” Rosalie attemptedto pull her hand back.

Still, Calvin didn’t let go and continued locking his gaze on Rósalie’s with his eyes.

Jonathan turned to look at Calvin and suddenly smiled. In front of everyone’s eyes, he wrapped his armaround Rosalie’s waist and spoke up. “Calvin, must you really make things awkward for everyone?Rosalie was with me before, and now she’s still with me. What’s the problem with that?”

Calvin’s expression darkened drastically.

Rosalie’s body stiffened for a moment, but she didn’t resist Jonathan’s sudden embrace. On thecontrary, she faced Calvin and stated, “Mr. Gunner, who I choose to be with is my own business.”

This time, her hand successfully slipped out from between Calvin’s fingers.

Calvin stared somewhat blankly at the retreating figures of Rosalie and Jonathan. He felt as ifsomething incredibly important had slipped away from his grasp, and he was currently losing it.

“Calvin…” Fiona tugged at his arm. She hated the way he looked at Rosalie’s departing figure.

Her previously joyful mood quickly turned into jealousy once more.

Fiona pondered, “Why must Calvin care so much about Rosalie? I should be the little girl who savedhim when we were younger in his heart!”

“Didn’t you say you’d introduce me to more people today and help me expand my networkingconnections?” Fiona muttered.

Only then did Calvin turn his head and look at Fiona. “I’m feeling a bit tired today. Later, I’ll havesomeone take you to meet a few producers and directors.”

Nonetheless, Fiona wasn’t willing to settle for that. ‘People will only hold me in high regard and realizemy importance to Calvin if he introduces me to those people personally!

If someone else were to do it, wouldn’t that indiscernibly diminish my value as well?’ Fiona thought.

“But…” Fiona looked reluctant.

Unfortunately, Calvin had already called over a veteran of the entertainment industry who was also atthe banquet and asked that person to introduce Fiona to some people.

No matter how unwilling Fiona was, she had no choice but to follow that veteran and leave for the timebeing.

Meanwhile, Calvin took a glass of alcohol from the tray held by a server and started drinking it rightaway.

“Indeed, Jonathan still can’t let Rosalie go,” he ruminated.
