Chapter 175

Chapter 175

“Speaking of which, you haven’t been back at the office for a long time. Those old colleagues miss youvery much. It’s good that we can meet you anytime in the future now. Since you’re here, you won’tleave without meeting them, will you?” said Elodia while dragging Rosalie inside.

Rosalie glanced at Elodia indifferently. She naturally knew what the latter was thinking.

In that case, she would just face it directly. If she escaped, then she would really become a joke.

“Tll meet them, then, Rosalie agreed without hesitation.

Her attitude stunned Elodia. After all, it was not what Elodia wanted to see.

After walking inside, Elodia clapped her hands in the office to attract everyone’s attention. “Guys, lookwho’s here. Our former colleague, Rosalie, is here to see us.

In no time, many in the office looked toward the duo.

Rosalie looked around and noticed those people included her former colleagues and new colleaguesshe did not know. “Ms. Cresent, did this young lady use do work here, too? Where is she workingnow?’ a young colleague asked.

That question was what Elodia wanted to hear. Still, she put on a regretful look and said. “She used tobe the most promising new lawyer here. Everyone said that she would become a top lawyer soon andmany prominent law firms would snap her up.”

“Then which law firm is she in now?” the newcomer asked curiously.

“Well…” Elodia looked at Rosalie as if she was in a dilemma, hesitant to speak.

Rosalie only felt that Elodia’s act was too lame. It would be fine if Elodia wanted to humiliate her. Whatdisgusted her was that Elodia tried to humiliate her but still pretended she was being put in a difficultposition and couldn’t bear to say anything at the same time.

“I’m now a delivery woman of Aiden’s Diner. All of you are welcome to place your orders. I can bringyou guys the menu next time, Rosalie said generously, not as embarrassing and awkward as Elodiahad imagined. Rosalie even smiled.novelbin

Such a smile made her face look indescribably gentle.

Elodia secretly gritted her teeth and shouted in her heart with hatred, “Go on with that! I’d like to seehow much longer you can put on a show, Rosalie”

Elodia pretended to be kind and reminded Rosalie, “Rosalie, I saw your boyfriend when I wentshopping last time. He dressed like a rich man. Why do you still have to make a living by deliveringfood for a diner? Be careful and don’t get fooled. Many people like to show off nowadays. They havelittle money but insist on pretending to be rich and may even owe a bunch of money on various onlineloans.”

Rosalie smiled faintly. “All right. I’ll ask him another day.”

Elodia felt like she had been snubbed. It was as if Rosalie was not bothered by what she said at all.

Apparently, some newcomers in the firm did not know why Rosalie switched her job from a lawyer to adelivery woman. When Rosalie turned around and walked toward the firm’s exit, she heard someonebehind her asking that question.

Needless to say, the person who answered was Elodia. She seemed to deliberately raise her voice, saying that Rosalie was sentenced to jail for killing someone while drunk driving.

Rosalie smiled faintly and mused, “Was Elodia trying to humiliate me to make up for her frustration ofbeing suppressed by me in the past few years? It’s true that you may not be able to see people for whothey really are when you are in your glorious moment, but you will surely see them clearly when youare having a hard time.”

Just as Rosalie walked out of the office and went to the elevator, a series of rapid footsteps suddenlysounded behind her, followed by a voice. “Rosalie, wait a minute!”

Rosalie turned around and saw a man hurrying over. He stopped before her and gazed at her with anobscure look.

The man in his thirties had a standard figure and average look. He was dressed in a suit, just like thosecity social elites usually wear.

“Yes?” Rosalie looked at the old colleague. The man used to work with her in the firm, and rumor hadbeen going around the firm for some time that he liked her. However, she was already in a relationshipwith Zachary at that time and did not take such a rumor seriously.

The rumor gradually stopped after that.

Meanwhile, Zayden Hill looked at the woman before him. Although she still had the same appearance, her temperament had changed entirely. Her previous energetic and radiant look had turned stoic anddowncast.

Even the light in her eyes seemed to be suppressed by something.

“If… If you have any difficulties, you can come to me. I will definitely try my best to help you, Zaydensaid sincerely.

Rosalie only felt it was ironic. Back then, no one in the law firm dared to take over her lawsuit. Lillianhad also visited the law firm for Rosalie many times but had always returned home in disappointment.

“I don’t think I need your help right now,” Rosalie replied.

Zayden hurriedly said, “It’ll not be a long-term job for you to be a delivery woman. Maybe I can ask myfriend to introduce you to a better job. You can earn a good income and don’t have to undergo hardshiplike this.”

“Introducing me to a job?” Rosalie slightly curled her lips. “Have you forgotten who was the deceasedvictim in my case? It’s Melanie Hamilton, Jonathan Youngblood’s fiancée. Are you not afraid?”

Zayden seemed somewhat embarrassed. “Sorry that I didn’t do anything about your lawsuit back then.In fact, I have been regretting it these years. Now that you are released, I only want to help you asmuch as I can.”

“You don’t have to apologize for not helping me back then. It’s normal for people to seek benefits andavoid harm. It was at favor to help me at that time, and no one should be blamed for not helping me.But I’ve gone through all of that now. There’s no need for you to help me anymore.”

After Rosalie finished her words, the elevator happened to arrive. The door opened, and she walkedinto it.

Zayden watched the elevator door slowly close with a desolate expression, slowly clenching his handsinto fists.

In truth, he had an impulse to take over Rosalie’s case and help her back then.

He knew she was definitely not a person who would drink and drive. She even often reminded thesurrounding people not to drive after drinking alcohol.
