Chapter 1046

Chapter 1046

Xaviera threatened Lucas because it was obvious that she wanted money. After all, all the money shehad from the divorce and the money she had after mortgaging the house had been invested in herlover’s business. However, the business was not going well, and she owed much debt.

Now, she wanted to take over Lucas’ stall to pay off the debt.

Lucas’ face turned red as he suppressed his emotions. Xaviera’s shameless threat put him in adilemma for a moment.

Amelia took a step forward and looked at Xaviera coldly. “Lucas and I are just friends. If you want tostart rumors, then be prepared to bear the consequences. Whoever dares to start a rumor about me, I’llsue them right to the end. I’ll make you lose all your fortune. In the end, I’ll want you to publish astatement in the newspapers to make clarifications and apologize to me!”

At that moment, Amelia exuded a very stern and cold aura. It was as if she would do anything toprotect the most important person in her life.

Her aura immediately pressurized Xaviera, making it difficult for her to breathe.

Amelia approached Xaviera step by step. “If you don’t believe me, try me!”

“You…” Xaviera’s face turned red with anger as she swung her arms aggressively toward Amelia. “I willtear you apart, woman!”

Amelia dodged as Lucas rushed over to grab Xaviera.

However, someone’s hand acted faster. The person slapped Xaviera directly until she stumbled. Then, she staggered and retreated a few steps before she was able to steady herself.

After that, Xaviera covered her face and stared blankly at the handsome and cold man in front of her.He was dressed in an elegant suit and exuded a powerful aura. It seemed that he was the kind ofperson who held a high position and power.

“W-Who are you? You’re hitting people for no reason. I’m calling the police,” Xaviera shouted.

Warren did not even look at her. Instead, he just turned and asked Amelia, “Did she hurt you?”novelbin

“I’m fine,” Amelia replied.

Xaviera felt jealous when she saw Warren’s concern for Amelia. “This woman is not very beautiful, butnow Lucas and this noble and elegant-looking man are both on her side,” she thought to herself.

“You may not know it, but this woman is having a relationship with my ex-husband, and they are gettingalong well. Speaking of which, it must be because a widow with a child can’t bear to be lonely…”Xaviera began to talk viciously.

Nevertheless, Xaviera was slapped in the face again halfway through her words.

“You…”

Slap! Slap! Slap!

Then came the third slap, the fourth slap, and the fifth slap. The sound of Xaviera being slappedcontinuously could be heard. Her cheeks were red and swollen, and the corners of her mouth werebleeding.

“Do you want to keep talking?” Warren said as he looked at Xaviera coldly. Even if she was a woman,he showed no mercy right now.

Xaviera was terrified and kept trembling. Her instinct told her that if she stayed there, she woulddefinitely not just end up being slapped.

Xaviera quickly left the place.

Lucas then said apologetically to Amelia, “I didn’t know she’d come here to cause trouble. I will… I’llfind a way to resolve this matter with her and stop her from coming here to cause trouble again.”

After what had just happened, Amelia could already see that Xaviera was more shameless than shehad originally thought.

If an honest man like Lucas really faced a scoundrel like Xaviera, he would probably give her his stall tosettle the matter.

Nonetheless, Amelia was aware that Lucas’ primary source of income was from the stall. He wouldhave a difficult life with Nadine if he did not have a stall later.

“It doesn’t matter if she still wants to cause trouble here, but you don’t have to give up too much.Certain things will continue to happen in the future if you give say no,” Amelia reminded him.

“Yes, I know.” Then Lucas added, “If she comes to bother you again, please let me know.”

When Warren saw the two of them worrying about each other, it made him feel uncomfortable.

After that, Lucas turned around and said to Warren, “Thank you for your help just now, Mr. York!”

“Are you thanking me?” Warren sneered as he added, “I was helping Amelia. Why do you have tothank me?”

He spoke as if he was implying that Amelia and him were together, while Lucas was just a mereoutsider.

Lucas looked embarrassed all of a sudden.

Amelia looked at Warren and asked, “What are you doing here?”

“If I told you that I came here because I missed you and Aiden, would you believe me?” Warren asked.

“I think we have made it clear enough between us. Your actions will only cause me trouble, Mr. York,”she said.

“Trouble?” Warren laughed sarcastically, pointing at Lucas. “I will cause you trouble, but what abouthim? Won’t he give you trouble too?”

“He’s my friend. Don’t drag him into this,” Amelia said, subconsciously standing between Lucas andWarren.

However, it seemed that her action provoked him even more. Warren said with a sullen face, “What if Iinsist on involving him? What does this man have that’s worth you defending him? What can he offeryou that I can’t?”

At that moment, his calmness seemed to be destroyed by jealousy, and he could not help himself fromsaying those words.

“If you want to do something to Lucas, I won’t forgive you, Warren. I will never forgive you for my entirelife.” Amelia glared straight at him and spoke in a very firm tone.

Warren’s body stiffened in an instant, and he looked at Amelia in disbelief.

He thought, “She can even say such a thing for Lucas. Could it be… Then, he asked in a low voice, “Isthis man that important to you?” His expression was very grim.

“Yes, he’s my friend. Of course, he’s important to me!” Amelia met Warren’s gaze and did not backdown at all.

She was afraid that she would get Lucas into trouble. She was also afraid that Warren would actuallydo something to Lucas.

Lucas had helped her so much. Thus, she really did not want Lucas to suffer inexplicable misfortunebecause of her.

“Is that true?” Warren asked, a smile forming on his face as he looked at Amelia with a hint ofuncertainty. “So, if I had an issue with Lucas, how would you respond?”

“Warren!” Amelia yelled. The coldness and hatred in her gaze caused him to pale instantly.

Warren thought, ‘It’s been a long time since she looked at me with such hatred.

But now, she’s doing it just because of Lucas!’

Warren almost lost the strength to stand. He did not even dare to look at Amelia for fear of seeing thehatred in her eyes again.
