Chapter 1032

“I’m not like a normal person where they can hear sounds without the cochlear, so I am deaf,” Aidensaid indifferently. Amelia felt her heart sting as he showed impassiveness at that moment.

It was as if her son had already been deeply hurt by the discrimination that the world showed towarddisabled people, which was why he accepted being called deaf with such resignation.

“Then I’ll become deaf too. This way, I’ll be the same as Aido!” Nadine said. Her bright eyes glistenedwith tears, while her face still had streaks. of tear stains. Yet, she spoke those words with suchsincerity.

At this moment, Aiden’s heart suddenly pounded furiously as if something deep within had touchedhim.

“She’s only three years old! To be honest, she wouldn’t know what it means to not hear anything at all, right?” he pondered.

If he were to take off his hearing aid, the whole world would become silent. This kind of silence mighteven make a person feel anxious!

It was like he was the only one left in this world.

“Don’t be like me. If you do, you’ll be looked down upon too,” Aiden said.

“I’m not afraid. Aido, if someone bullies you, I will beat them up!”. Although Nadine cried, she showed alot of dominance.

While both emotions were clearly contradictory, they seemed to be merging in a peculiar way for her.

Aiden’s self-deprecation and cold demeanor seemed to be melting under Nadine’s tender voice at thatmoment.

With a misty gaze in her eyes, Amelia looked at Nadine and felt grateful for the little girl. “Just likeLucas, this child has the ability to make people feel warm in the most unexpected way, she thought toherself.

“All right, don’t worry! Aiden is a remarkable child. In the future, he will surely achieve great things. When that time comes, no one will discriminate against him because of his hearing,” Lucas comfortedAmelia as he patted her shoulder gently.

“Thank you!” Amelia said emotionally. Her words of gratitude were directed to both Lucas and Nadine.

At this moment, the four of them didn’t notice that someone was holding his phone not far away andtaking pictures of the scene in front of him,

Meanwhile, at the York residence, Warren was looking through the photos he had received in his emailwithout saying a word.

There weren’t many people who knew about that certain email address. The sender’s email addresswas registered abroad, while each of the photos was of Amelia and another man.

In some photos, there were two people, and in others, there were four people.

Besides Aiden, there was also another little girl. The photos of the four of them together looked like acozy family of four.

Warren felt his chest tighten suddenly as if something was suppressing his chest, making it difficult tocatch his breath.

He also recognized the man in the photos. In the past, Warren had seen Lucas beside Amelia.

In his eyes, the man seemed ordinary and unremarkable. However, he was capable of bringing a raresmile to Amelia’s face, and even making Aiden willing to get close to him.

Among these photos, there were several photos of Amelia and Lucas gazing at each other, and hereyes were tender with a touch of warmth in them.novelbin

“She can’t possibly know how much I longed for warmth like that!” Warren thought to himself.

Such warmth was only back in the days when he hadn’t broken up with her, or when he hadn’tmisunderstood her for hurting Irene. She used to look at him like that.

Later on, the look in her eyes when she gazed at him was filled with coldness.

Staring at the photos on the computer screen, Warren lifted his finger and gently caressed Amelia’sface in the photo. “You said that we’re even and that we don’t owe each other anything anymore. Butare we… completely even right now? If so, then tell me, why can’t I let you go?”

The woman in the photo had a tender gaze, but the look she had in her eyes was not directed at him.

After the previous amusement park incident, Lucas came to find Amelia several times, and each timehe would bring Nadine over with him as the little girl had always pestered him to see Aiden.

“I don’t know why, but she likes Aiden very much. She always insists on meeting him even when we’reat home. I’m sorry for always bothering you,” Lucas said with a hint of embarrassment.

“There’s nothing to be sorry about. I can see that Aiden likes Nadine as well. It’s fate that both childrenget along well.” Before Amelia could say something, Matilda had already spoken first.

At this moment, the two children were inside a room at the concession stand. Aiden was teachingNadine how to read, including their own names, “Nadine Graham” and “Aiden Haab”.

Initially, Aiden merely wanted Nadine to learn her own name, but she insisted on learning Aiden’s nametogether as well.

Thus, Aiden wrote his name down.

“Aiden Haab, Aiden Haab, Aido…” Nadine kept repeating his name, paying extra attention to learninghis name more than her own. After reading it out many times, she didn’t forget to tell Aiden, “I’llremember your name, Aido! When I see your name next time, I’ll be able to recognize it!”

Aiden smiled faintly and said, “Okay. I’ll test you next time to see if you remember it.”

Seeing that her son and Nadine getting along well with each other, Amelia’s lips couldn’t resist curlinginto a smile. She could tell that Aiden also seemed to like Nadine a lot, which was why he showed sucha smile in front of her.

In the past, her son used to smile even when he saw strangers. But now, as he grew older, Aidenwould only smile when he was around those whom he was familiar with and who were truly kind to him.

At the thought of her son’s smile getting lesser, Amelia couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. There might besome things that even if she wanted to protect her son completely, he would eventually have to dealwith on his own.

In the future, as he grows older, Aiden might face more injustice and discrimination due to his hearingimpairment. Those were the things that she couldn’t prevent at all. She could only let her son learn tobe strong and face those challenges with resilience.

But sometimes, in the quiet of the night, Amelia couldn’t help but wonder if Aiden had followed Warreninstead. “He’d be regarded as the eldest son of the York family by everyone. Even if he had such a

disability, how many people would dare to discriminate against him?” she thought.

“Lucas, why don’t you stay and have dinner today?” Matilda asked.

“No, it would make me embarrassed to do so!” Lucas said.

“What’s there to be embarrassed about? You’ve helped Amelia so much, and you even refused tocharge us for repairing the tricycle. What’s wrong with having dinner with us?” Matilda said.

Lucas scratched his head sheepishly and said, “W-Well, please excuse me for staying here then.”

After dinner, Lucas left with Nadine. The little girl bade goodbye to Aiden reluctantly before getting inthe car with her father.
