Chapter 359

The atmosphere in the living room suddenly became tense.

Bruce remained silent, not giving the woman a single glance.

As for Leandro, his gaze lingered on her for a moment when he looked at her.

He swiftly turned his head to look at Seraphina, only to find her staring at the woman, seemingly lost inthought.

A heavy feeling suddenly overwhelmed Leandro.

The woman was the first to break the silence.

She laughed awkwardly and said, “I’m sorry, I didn’t know you had guests. I’ll leave now…”

After she finished speaking, she glanced at Bruce again, but he was still deep in his own thoughts, notlooking at her. When she saw Leandro’s gaze, her heart suddenly pounded, and she quickly turnedaround and rushed downstairs.

At this moment, Seraphina slowly approached and smiled, “Let me walk you out.”

Even though it was her first time here, and this woman was clearly more familiar with the place,Seraphina still made the offer.

The woman smiled and turned to leave.

Seraphina followed her downstairs.

When they reached the bottom, Seraphina spoke softly, “You’re Lory’s mother, right?

The woman was slightly surprised, then nodded shyly, “Do you know Lory?”

Seraphina laughed, “Yes, I’m close with Lory. Even though I haven’t met you before, I can tell Lorylooks a lot like you.”

The woman smiled and said, “My name is Leda.”

“Leda,” Seraphina repeated, glancing upstairs before continuing, “You’ve been looking after him whileBruce was away, haven’t you?”

Leda studied Seraphina carefully. She wasn’t sure how to respond.

Despite Seraphina’s gentle demeanor, she was, after all, Leandro’s wife, a member of the Reynoldsfamily. Leda wasn’t sure how Seraphina would view her, a lover who had been with Bruce for manyyears.

Seeing her hesitations, Seraphina said, “Don’t worry, Leda. I have no ulterior motives. I just want tothank you for taking care of him while he was away. It puts both

me and Leandro at ease.”

Upon hearing this, Leda sighed, “I only come by occasionally. He’s so busy, he wouldn’t stay here forlong. Just being able to see him once in a while is enough for

me.”

Seraphina smiled, “I can tell, Leda. You’re a kind and thoughtful person. Otherwise, you wouldn’t havestayed with him for all these years. But…”

“But what?” Leda couldn’t help but ask when Seraphina paused.

Seraphina hesitated for a moment before saying, “You’ve probably seen the news about him over thepast few days, right? Leandro’s mother was quite upset by it and had to be hospitalized…”

Upon hearing this, Leda’s face instantly changed, her eyes filled with guilt and anxiety.

“How is she?” Leda asked anxiously.

“She’s not in any life-threatening danger now,” Seraphina replied, noticing Leda’s sigh of relief. Shecontinued, “You’ve met her before, haven’t you, Leda?”

Caught off guard, Leda stammered, “I… I’ve met her a couple of times when I was younger…”

Years ago, Bruce loved partying, and he’d often take Leda with him to various social events. Gloria andBruce were from the same social circle, and the two women had crossed paths on a couple ofoccasions, resulting in some unpleasant encounters. Perhaps it was because of these experiences thatBruce eventually toned down his behavior.

After hearing this, Seraphina felt as if she had found the answer to her questions.

Gloria had met Leda when she was young, and not just once.

Fast forward to the present, Leda had been by Bruce’s side all these years, even gave birth to Lorenzoand raised him to become a doctor.

How could Gloria, who loved Bruce so deeply, not feel threatened by such a woman?

For Gloria, Bruce’s betrayal was a pain she could never escape from. Over the years, it had eatenaway at her.

How would she have reacted when she saw Vivian, who bore a mole under her eye that looked just likeLeda’s?

Given her unstable mental state, could the shock of linking Vivian and Leda together have driven her toharm Vivian?

Upstairs, Leandro, facing the silent Bruce, finally said one thing.

“If you truly don’t care about mom’s life and death, then just keep doing what you’re doing,” Leandrosaid. “As long as you’re happy, right?”

With that, Leandro got up and left the room.

Downstairs, the dining table was laden with soup and food that Leda had brought, but there was no onearound.

Leandro went straight to the front door, where he found Seraphina standing alone outside, staringblankly in the direction Leda had left/

Hearing Leandro’s footsteps behind her, Seraphina didn’t turn around.

It wasn’t until the driver brought the car around that Leandro reached out and grabbed her hand, “Getin.”

Seraphina glanced at him, then obediently got into the car.

Leandro instructed the driver to head home.

Seraphina turned to look at him, “Aren’t we going to the hospital?”

“I’ll take you home first,” Leandro replied.

Seraphina thought for a moment. If they went to the hospital at this hour, Gloria might already beawake, and she might not be pleased to see Seraphina.

Although Leandro seemed indifferent, he cared deeply about many people and things, especiallyGloria.

As Gloria’s son, it was his duty to protect her.

Seraphina sat quietly, looking out the window for a moment before asking, “Have you met Ledabefore?”

Without looking at him, she didn’t know what his reaction was to her question. After a while, she heardLeandro answer, “Yes, I have.”

“When did you meet her?” Seraphina asked further.

“A few years back.”

Seraphina quietly did the math.novelbin

A few years back, in other words, after Vivian’s mishap.

Indeed, if Leandro had met Leda earlier, he’d have definitely spotted the strikingly similar mole underthe eyes of both women when he later met Vivian.

Considering how meticulous and cautious he is, how could he possibly bring Vivian home to minglewith Gloria?

But then, if Vivian really got shoved down those stairs by Gloria, did he know?

With that thought, Seraphina turned her head to look silently at Leandro.

After a moment, Leandro turned his head to look at her.

Neither of them said a word, just quietly locking eyes.

Suddenly, Seraphina wondered, would the ever-truthful-in-her-presence Leandro answer her questionhonestly, just like he always did, if she asked him?
