Lindsey quickly got up and approached her.
With her head slightly lowered, Astrid concealed the coldness in her eyes before suddenly reaching outto grab Lindsey's arm.
“Where is my sister-in-law being held? Didn't you say you found her exact location? Where is it? Whereis she?”
Lindsey deftly grabbed her wrist and led her toward the table.
“Don't worry. Have some water and calm down. Besides, with your current physical condition, youwouldn't be able to barge in even if I told you, right?”
Astrid looked at the cup of water handed to her, a trace of mockery flashing past her eyes.
She suspected that the water in the cup had been laced with a stupefying drug.
Nonetheless, since she had already decided to step into the trap, there was nothing left for her tohesitate about.
As soon as Lindsey handed Astrid the cup, the latter took it and immediately took a big gulp.
“I'm here and have drunk the water. Now, can you tell me where Bailey is being held?”
With a playful smile, Lindsey suddenly pushed her onto the couch.
Astrid struggled to stand up, but the medicine was too potent, draining all her strength as soon as itentered her stomach. She feigned surprise and said, “T-The water's spiked. What... What are youtrying to do?”
Lindsey let out a soft chuckle, leaning in close to her and saying, “Caridee, my brother dreams ofhaving you, and because of you, he's already lovesick. As Astrid's consciousness slowly faded away, her eyelids gradually drooped, plunging her directly intounconsciousness.

Two black-clad bodyguards marched through the door and hoisted the unconscious Astrid out.
The thought of the joy her brother would feel upon receiving the gift made Lindsey feel it was worth it toscheme against any innocent person.
Only with her elder brother's support could she get the man she desired.
Then again, she overlooked the most crucial point.
Caridee was Edmund's cousin. Now that Lindsey had pushed Caridee into hell, Edmund would nevergive her a second glance, let alone marry her.

Inside the conference hall of Tarragon on Intel Island, Dominic slammed his hand on the table, fuming,“What is Sofie playing at? We agreed each of us would provide half of the manpower, and after takingdown the headquarters, we would evenly split the power of the Tarragon. Now she actually teamed upwith the Hoffman family and the Carter family and planning to send twice as many people as me. Whaton earth is she thinking?”
One subordinate with a scarred face slightly lowered his head, a glimmer of somber light flickering inhis eyes.
He was an undercover agent, a spy that Artemis had planted near Dominic.
The subordinate had just received a task from Artemis, instructing him to use this situation to drive awedge between Dominic and Sofie, forcing the great elder to take drastic action.
Once Dominic dispatched all his forces, Sofie would undoubtedly not sit idly by. She would also deployall the power she had at her disposal.
Both sides had gathered their full forces at the Tarragon Headquarters. Holden was working with Sofieto plan another surprise attack. Together, they can completely eliminate the troublemakers.
“Mr. Doyle, in my opinion, Sofie intends to monopolize Tarragon. Don't forget, she's a woman who stillhas control over Holden. She might have already forced Holden to surrender.”
After hearing the scar-faced man's analysis, Dominic abruptly leaped from his chair.

“Quietly gather all our forces and head to the Tarragon Headquarters to fight Sofie in a battle of life anddeath.”
“Yes. Gather all forces for a battle of life and death.”
The man with the scarred face curled his lips into a peculiar smile.
These people were so blinded by their own interests that they had lost all reason. It would only be amatter of time before Artemis eliminated all of them.
Dominic slammed the table forcefully, making a final decision, “All right, let's go this.”
Inside the base in Moranta, Artemis leaned against the couch, reading the message sent by hissubordinate. Without realizing it, he curled his lips into a smirk.
Bailey narrowed her eyes at him, frowning as she asked, “Why are you smiling like that?”
Artemis tossed the communicator to her. “The great elder is taken care of. All that's left is Sofie. Aslong as I can provoke her to mobilize all her forces, I can wipe them all out in one go.”
Bailey quickly skimmed through the email, a faint smile uncontrollably tugging at the corner of her lips.
Those troublemakers were finally about to be dealt with.
She had been cooped up in the dark lab for days on end, just waiting for a result so she could finallystep outside and get some fresh air.
“How likely do you think Sofie will take the bait?”
Without a second thought, Artemis blurted out, “One hundred percent.”
Bailey raised an eyebrow. “Are you sure?”
“Two tigers can't coexist on the same mountain unless they're a male and a female. Well, they areindeed a male and a female, but they're both people blinded by self-interest. No one can halt theirpursuit of fame and fortune, and it's inevitable that their alliance is merely superficial. Actually, internalstrife will begin without needing me to send someone to instigate them to go against each other. Noone would let their guard down at such a critical moment where success or failure depends on onemove.”
Bailey threw herself into his arms, grinning from ear to ear. “My husband is so impressive. Youunderstand the heart of humans so perfectly.”
Artemis looked at her delicate face, his heart beginning to flutter.

Bailey was taken aback for a moment. When she finally came to her senses, a faint blush spreadacross her cheeks.
Even though she was thick-skinned, she could not stand his constant teasing and the inappropriatecomments he would sporadically make.
“Stop messing around. This is the laboratory.”
Artemis chuckled. “So what? It's fine as long as you're here. Without you, I wouldn't feel any joy even ifI were in heaven—”
Bailey abruptly reached out to cover his mouth. “Stop. Don't say another word. It's damaging to yourimage as the ruler of the Tarragon Empire and the head of the most prominent family.”
