Chapter 599

Bailey sighed imperceptibly.

She languidly turned to face Chloe, her gaze roving over the latter's bloody and disfigured face.

Thankfully, she had been quick enough to dodge the attack. Otherwise, she would have been the onewith the mutilated face.

“You brought this upon yourself and have no one else to blame.”

“I brought this upon myself?” Chloe erupted into laughter as tears began streaming down the livid flesharound her eye sockets.

“Who do you think you are for claiming that I deserve it? Tell me!”

Bailey stared at her unfeelingly, her voice as light as the breeze as she uttered, “You were behind thefirst time I almost had a miscarriage, weren't you? I will never forgive anyone who dares lift a fingeragainst my child. That applies to both you and Rhonda.”

Chloe's eyes widened as she looked at her askance. “Y-You knew I was the one all along? Then whydidn't you expose me and even allowed me to be the CEO's secretary? Why?” novelbin

Bailey had on a poker face, her gaze icy.

“The only way to trounce someone like you is to let you suffer absolute defeat. Only after every bit ofyour superiority is decimated will you stop coming back.”

Chloe began frantically struggling from the grasp of the two guards. “Bailey, you are dead! I'll kill you!”

Bailey waved her hands. “Take her away. We'll take legal action against her for wanting to causeintentional harm and let the court decide what to do with her.”

“On it.”

Chloe's cries and curses echoed around every corner of the hall, causing everyone's hair to stand onend.

Bailey exhaled exasperatedly. Her mood had taken a turn for the worse.

She hadn't planned for these women to meet such unfortunate ends, yet they had forced her hand.

If she had not retaliated strongly, she would be the one ending up in a wretched state.

“Come on, let's head back to the medical base.”

Zeke inclined his head and held her hand as he comforted, “You reap what you sow. They're not worthan ounce of your sympathy. Don't blame yourself for what happened to them.”

Once they reached the medical base, they were told by the butler that Raiden was waiting in the livingroom and had an important matter to discuss.

There are only two plausible reasons behind his seeking me out.

The first is to report on the investigation results, while the second is about dealing with Scarlett.

“I'll head over to the living room. You can return to where the sick wards are without me.”

Zeke nodded and tightened the coat Bailey was wearing around her. “Okay.”

The progress of the investigation took precedence as Raiden gave a brief update about it to Bailey inthe living room.

“We've managed to apprehend everyone involved without fail. I've also dispatched a specialist to auditthe foundation's accounts and will make an official announcement to the public once the results areout.”

Bailey chuckled lightly. “I have the utmost confidence in your competence.”

However, what Raiden had to say next caused her heart to rise to her throat.

“My mom has arrived in Hallsbay. I've urged her to convince Scarlett to surrender and appeal forleniency.”

Bailey shook her head with a smile. “As a member of the prestigious Fletcher family who's in solecontrol of all the authority and power, do you think your mother would sit idly by while her daughter isbeing sentenced to a lifetime in prison?”

Raiden was silent.

Bailey let out a bitter laugh. “Perhaps you've already guessed that your mother will do everything within

her ability to save your sister. Let's discuss the methods she may attempt to use to do so. I'm confidentshe's aware of how relentless I am. Therefore, we can eliminate the possibility of her finding ascapegoat for your sister. Unless...”

Raiden's face turned dour as he seemed to recall something. Even his eyes lost all of their remainingwarmth.

“Unless she's served a suspended sentence and is given extra time to reduce it. The only way for herto do so would be... to get pregnant.”

Nodding, Bailey said, “You know how your sister is. Her pride and arrogance wouldn't permit her toaccept any random sperm donor. As such, your mother can only collaborate with Olivia to steal Justin'ssperm.”

Raiden grimaced as his eyes swirled with tumultuous emotions.

Bailey sighed. “You must be torn between both parties, so I suggest you wash your hands of this andlet me handle it. Since your sister is so keen on getting pregnant, we'll let her get what she wants.Aren't there millions of men in the world besides Justin? Anyone of them will do.”

Raiden caught on to her plans and lowered his voice. “You're willing to let her off? She'll successfullybe served a suspended sentence once she gets pregnant. She might even be released from prison inone or two years.”

Bailey shook her head. “It's not up to me to determine whether to go easy on her. After all, I'm not theone whose life ended unjustly due to her actions. Nonetheless, your mother would surely come up witha backup plan even if we thwart her this time round. Hence, we might as well go along with it and let

your sister get pregnant by a random stranger. That would be the greatest punishment for her.”

After a short moment of contemplation, she added, “Leave this to me. You should keep your hands outof this. I'm aware of how difficult it is for you to pick a side as her brother. Just pretend that nothing everhappened.”

Raiden lifted his head, and his eyes flashed with mixed feelings.

“Fine then. You go ahead.”

Bailey bobbed her head. She had no intention of letting Scarlett off the hook.

Once Scarlett found out that the child in her belly did not come from Justin, she would most certainlyopt for an abortion and be thrown back into prison.

Even if there was a one-in-a-million chance that she decided to keep the child and was pardoned fromher sentence, the rest of her life would be nothing but torture.
