Chapter 598

Karma? novelbin

Bailey scoffed.

Even if she did nothing, they would continue hovering around her like a swarm of disgusting flies.

It would serve her better to retaliate instead of suffering in silence.

“You brought this upon yourself. If I hadn't done what I had to, I would be the one being treated in theasylum today. Rhonda, I can't believe you could be so ruthless toward your sister and hatch such asinister scheme. You only have yourself to blame now that you're reaping what you sow.”

Rhonda lowered her head.

She was mentally and physically drained after the harrowing past few days, so much so that strands ofher hair had turned white.

Her entire life had practically been destroyed. As such, the only thing that kept her going was the hopethat the tables would turn on Bailey one day and that she'd be doomed for eternity.

She bore a strong conviction that that day would arrive.

“Do you intend to keep me locked up here forever? As you wish, I'm already back to normal. Shouldn'tyou let me go free to become a victim of scorn and mockery till kingdom come?”

Bailey quirked her lips and said sardonically, “You're surprisingly self-aware. Of course, I wouldn't grant

you a moment's reprieve by sheltering you from the masses. As such, go back to the Jeffersonresidence. Your retribution is upon you. You can only accept the punishment doled out to you.”

She departed from the ward after leaving Andy with a few instructions.

Rhonda's gut-wrenching howls sounded from behind her. “Bailey, one day you'll end up in hell! Justwait and see! I'll personally drag you down there with me!”

Bailey placidly got onto the elevator.

She walked out of the lobby once she reached the ground floor. With her face slightly tilted upwardsand her eyes shut in contemplation, Bailey remained rooted on the steps outside the building.

It was snowing outside, and several snowflakes landed on her cheeks, causing her to shiver from thecold.

If Rhonda had been just a tad bit smarter and foregone her obsessions, she wouldn't have met withsuch an end.

“Bailey! You ruined the West family! I'm going to kill you! You're dead!”

Bailey's eyes widened as a wrathful bellow reached her ears.

She turned to see Chloe rushing toward her.

The latter was holding an uncapped bottle filled with liquid that sizzled as drops of it hit the ground.

Bailey's face turned solemn as her eyes took on an icy sheen.

“Get out of her way, everyone! She's holding a bottle of concentrated sulfuric acid.”

The nurses and doctors around her instantly attempted to shield themselves while scampering away.

In the blink of an eye, the asylum descended into a state of chaos.

Bailey swiftly took several steps back while Chloe continued advancing toward her while laughingmaniacally.

“My oh my, Bailey, you're genuinely terrified! How wonderful! I'll ruin your face today so you can't everseduce men again. Damn you to hell!”

She raised her arm and flung the contents of the bottle at Bailey.

Bailey narrowed her eyes and dodged Chloe's first round of assault by the skin of her teeth.

With a few swift flicks of her wrist, Bailey was armed with several needles tucked between her fingersin seconds.

Light reflected from the surfaces of the needles, causing them to glimmer as they sped toward Chloe.

In the next instant, a shrill scream abruptly sounded from the entrance of the asylum.

The needles had pierced Chloe's calves, causing such acute pain that she fell flat on her face.

She had lost her grip on the bottle of concentrated sulfuric acid earlier, which spilled all over the floor.Unfortunately for her, that was exactly where her face landed.

The acid started sizzling once it came into contact with her skin, eliciting an even louder wail of agonyfrom Chloe's throat.

Zeke rushed over, his expression grim as he took in Chloe, whose face was being corroded by theacid. The fear he exuded was palpable.

He had merely gone to the restroom, only to return to a close call with disaster.

His sister was indeed a jinx who attracted trouble wherever she went.

“Are you all right? Did any of the acid splatter on you?”

Bailey turned her head away from Chloe, who was still on the ground.

The scent of singed flesh permeated the air. One did not even need to look at Chloe to figure out shewas permanently disfigured.

After all, this was concentrated sulfuric acid. A small drop alone would corrode a chunk of flesh, letalone when one immersed their entire face in it.

“Arrange for two men to send her back to the West residence. Tell her family that she's used up her lastchance. If she challenges me again, I won't be showing any mercy.”

Zeke nodded and gestured for the two bodyguards who'd been standing at the side to pull Chloe to herfeet.

The bystanders sucked in a breath as their eyes landed on her mutilated face.

“Goodness gracious, how terrifyingly abhorrent! My guts are roiling.”

“This is exactly why the unjust will always be doomed to destruction.”

“Jacques brought the downfall of the West family himself. Who does he think he is for fabricating falseevidence to blackmail Bailey? He's even deluded enough to think he's protected by his higher-ups!What a joke!”

Chloe ignored the censorious voices and glared straight at Bailey as she snickered. “What's with you? Can't meet my eyes?”
