Chapter 533

Caridee's eyes narrowed all of a sudden.

She regained her senses and muttered in a hoarse voice, “My right arm is crippled? How can I takecare of myself after this?”

Veikko's eyes dimmed. After a short pause, he said, “You got hurt for trying to save me. I'll take fullresponsibility.”

Take full responsibility? Caridee turned around and gave him a hopeful look. “How? Marry me?”

Veikko was at a loss for words.

He looked away and said in a deep voice, “I'll find the best doctor to treat your arm. Bailey is a superbdoctor, and she's your sister-in-law, so I'm sure she'll give you the best treatment. Cheer up, okay?”

Her eyes darkened. I thought he was planning to marry me when he said he'd take full responsibility.Did they think I came all the way to Yannopolis for fun? No. There's more to me than meets the eye.

Caridee had fallen for Veikko since the day she laid eyes on him.

If it were not for him, she would not have traveled off the beaten path to Yannopolis.

When the bullet was shot in his direction, Caridee went all out to take the bullet for him. She was noteven worried about her life and death at that critical moment. I was willing to sacrifice my life for him. Ifthis is not love, what is?

“It's all right if you don't want to marry me. I got injured for trying to save you, so you can't just leave mein the lurch. From now on, you have to take me with you wherever you go. Do you hear me? Or else, I'llask Bailey to teach you a lesson.”

Veikko was bereft of words.

“I need to relieve myself, but I can't move. Carry me to the restroom.”

The man did not know how to react to that request.

“Veikko, your ears have turned red. You're blushing,” she said.

Once again, her remark rendered Veikko speechless.

“You're a man, yet you're acting like a girl. I want you to carry me to the restroom, that's all. Why do youlook so shy?” Caridee said.

He responded, “Shut up.”

Caridee chuckled at his response.

Meanwhile, Rhonda had been wreaking havoc in the Jefferson residence since she had gone mad.

Beatrice nonchalantly gave Hallsbay's psychiatric hospital a call and told them to take Rhonda away.

Clarence, who had just regained consciousness, was so stunned that he spewed up a mouthful ofblood and fell into a coma again when he learned that his daughter had lost her mind and his wife wasabout to admit her to the psychiatric hospital.

In the living hall, the psychiatrist looked at Beatrice and asked, “Mrs. Jefferson, Ms. Jefferson went outof control because something triggered her. Give her a few days, and she might feel better. Hercondition might worsen if you insist on sending her to the psychiatric hospital. She might go crazy forreal.”

Beatrice looked at the scratches on her wrist, and a murderous glint flashed across her eyes. Thatcrazy girl scratched me. She'll go bonkers every time she loses her mind. How can I allow such adangerous person to stay in the house?

“I'll pay the hospital thirty thousand a month. Take her away. I'll be grateful if you can improve hercondition. If not, just let her rot there,” she said.

Her remark rendered the doctor speechless.

Even the housekeepers could not help but exchange glances. Poor Ms. Jefferson. Not only is sheinvolved in a scandal with her father, but her mother also intends to abandon her. What a miserable life!

Beatrice raised her voice when she noticed the doctor did not give her any response. “What are youwaiting for? Take her away! What an eyesore.”

The doctor did not know what else to say.

After the doctor had taken her daughter away, Beatrice returned to her bedroom.

The moment she stepped into the room, a man scooped her up from the floor. “We made it, Beatrice.Since Clarence is out of the way and his daughters have either left or gone crazy, you're officially incontrol of the Jefferson family now.”

The man who uttered those words was a guy in his twenties whom Beatrice had met in a club. Afterspending a few nights in bed, they clicked and got together.

Of course, the man was using Beatrice to get his hands on the Jeffersons' assets. Otherwise, he wouldnot have wasted time flirting with someone older than him. Clarence might be an *sshole, but he waspretty good at running his business and had made some money over the years. That was how heaccumulated wealth for the Jeffersons. If I can get my hands on the money, I'll be able to spend themfor at least a few decades.

Beatrice reached out her hand, gently shoved his head, and said coyly, “How dare you come to theJefferson residence. What if Clarence finds out about you and tries to get rid of you?” novelbin

The man smirked. He leaned forward, planted a kiss on her lips, and mumbled, “He was so pissed offthat he fainted just now and is now lying half-dead in the infirmary. There's nothing he can do even ifwe were to have some fun in front of him.”

Upon hearing that, Beatrice giggled.

A series of panting and moaning echoed in the room as the two tumbled into bed in broad daylight.

At the medical base, Bailey felt better after resting for two days.

During the recovery period, Artemis stayed by her side to keep her company.

Upon noticing an improvement in her health, he smiled and said, “You're a strong girl, Bay. I knew youcould overcome this.”

Bailey's lips curled into a forced smile. My child is gone. Why should I stay depressed all day longwhen there's nothing I can do to bring the child back?

She did not want the people who cared about her to suffer with her. She was particularly worried aboutArtemis, who kept blaming himself and wished to kill himself for the things that had happened. Mypessimism will drive him nuts if I don't pull myself together.
