Zeke looked away and lowered his head.
After a brief silence, he said slowly, “We can get engaged first and discuss the wedding two years later.I've just taken over the Shurmer family, so I'm too busy to plan a wedding.”
Everyone in the living room heaved a sigh of relief when they heard him agreeing to the engagement.
They were worried he would refuse to marry Shirley no matter what.
Richard relaxed. “Sure. You can get engaged first.”
He turned to his daughter and asked, “What do you think?”
Shirley could barely hide her delight.
Finally, Zeke agrees to get engaged to me. As long as we are engaged, I'm confident he'll stay by myside. Everyone in the Shurmer family and the Gourd family knew Zeke had sex with me and that I amhis woman. I'll be his wife as long as the b*tch Juliana doesn't do anything to break us up.
“I'll follow Zeke's wishes. Just do as he said,” she replied shyly.
Richard guffawed in joy and gazed at Steven, who was sitting across from him. “We finally fulfill ourwish of being in-laws.”
Steven nodded. “The Shurmer family is blessed to have a daughter-in-law like Shirley. They will finallymarry each other, so our wish has come true.”
“Yes, you're right.”
Zeke got up and said calmly, “I need to get back to work, so I'll be heading back to my office now.”
He then walked toward the door.
Seeing that, Waverly promptly called out, “We have a dinner party tonight. I have asked the butler tocall Lionel, so he'll be here later. Remember to be back in time for dinner.”
“Mm.”

The screeching sounds of a car braking were heard at the intersection of Haltwind Road.
Juliana frowned. “What happened? Why did you hit the brakes suddenly?”
“Ms. Juliana, there are a few cars blocking our way,” the driver reported.
Right after he said that, someone knocked on the window.
Juliana rolled it down to discover a bodyguard dressed in black standing outside.
“Ms. Hoffman, my employer would like to talk to you.”
Juliana recognized the bodyguard as he was Zeke's personal bodyguard.
The employer he mentioned should be Zeke, then. He never took the initiative to look for me. What isgoing on? No! There must be a reason for him to come all the way here to meet me. Did he realize Iwas the one who drugged him last night?
With that thought in mind, she held the corner of her dress tightly and forced herself to stay calm. “I'msorry, but I'm in a hurry. Please make way.”
The man in black ignored her words and gestured for her to get out. It was clear what he meant.
Juliana clenched her jaw.
I don't have enough men with me, so it's impossible to get past them and leave. So...
“I'll go talk to Mr. Shurmer. Stay in the car,” she told the driver.”
“Okay.”
Juliana opened the door and strode to a car parked nearby.
When she arrived, another man in black opened the door for her.
She hesitated for a few seconds before getting into the car.
“Why have you come?”
Juliana dared not look at the man sitting next to her as she felt a little guilty.
Zeke shot her a dark look. “Ms. Hoffman, it seems that your attitude toward me has done a completeone-eighty. Why? Have you lost interest in me that soon?”
Juliana whipped her head around to glare at him. “What do you mean by I've lost interest in you? Didyou forget how you rejected me countless times and...”
Mid-sentence, she belatedly realized that she was overreacting and promptly swallowed the rest of herwords.
Arching a brow, Zeke asked, “Are you going to meet the elder of the Hoffman family?”
“Yes,” Juliana managed through gritted teeth. She then mocked, “Mr. Shurmer, you can finally heave asigh of relief as no one will pester you anymore. You can finally get engaged to your fiancée in peace. Iwish you both a happy marriage.”
She pushed the door open to leave.
Seeing that, Zeke gripped her arm and chuckled. “Why are you blowing up when we barely chatted?” novelbin
Juliana flung his arm away with all her might. “What do you want? I've made myself clear, and I won'tpester you anymore. Can't you get out of my way instead of showing up before me?”
I'm afraid I might be reluctant to leave after seeing him a few more times. God knows how muchcourage I had to summon to make up my mind. Can he stop showing up before me and enabling myrebellious side?
Zeke sighed softly. “We are friends, so I came here to send you off. If you need help back in yourfamily, just give me a call. I'll do my best to help you.”

Juliana parted her lips to say something but decided against it after she thought of something.
Then, she left the car without saying anything.
A dark look appeared in Zeke's eyes as he watched her leave.
He was so used to being pestered by Juliana, so he felt his heart break a little after learning about herdeparture.
