Chapter 255

His daughter went to save him, yet he was worse than an animal and abused her instead. In the end,he ruined her life and caused her much sufferings.

“Why? Is it so difficult to answer my question? If my daughter was the one who seduced you and madeyou commit that sinful act, the Revelle family will let this matter rest. However, if you were the beastwho forced yourself on her, then I'm going to break your leg today!”

Justin pursed his lips, then confessed in his hoarse voice, “Seven years ago, when I got into trouble inPontotium, Veronique went to my rescue. Instead of being thankful and grateful, I forced myself on her, resulting in her pregnancy. What's more, I have never fulfilled my duties as a father to the child all theseyears. If you wish to break my leg, I'll readily accept that punishment and not put up a resistance.”

Bill's knees turned weak when he heard that, and he stumbled backward. Thankfully, Yvonne wasstanding behind him and managed to stop him from falling.

“Calm down, Dad. Vero will be sad if you hurt yourself over this,” Yvonne urged.

Bill shoved her aside. Trembling involuntarily, he pointed at Justin and chided, “Y-You rascal! Do youknow your abhorrent act has ruined a young lady's life? My daughter is from a family of doctors, yetbecause of you, she chooses to stay away from home and her family. Zephyr is her flesh and blood, but she can only be known to him as Aunt Veronique. Do you know how painful that is? You can't makeup for that even if I stab you a million times!”

Justin's lanky body trembled uncontrollably as he quietly stayed on his knees and looked downremorsefully. He knew he had let Veronique down and that he could never make amends for his pastsins.

“Alfred, bring me the stick!” Bill yelled to his butler.

Yvonne panicked. She knew she could not stop her father, so she stealthily tried to step aside to giveVeronique a call. She was hoping she could get her sister to rush back in time to stop their father.

Bill saw through her plans, and he snapped, “Don't you dare call Veronique! All these years, I'vewronged my innocent girl. I thought she had misbehaved and brought shame to our family. Never did itcross my mind that she was violated! Since this scum has come to us, as her father, I have the duty ofseeking justice for her. No one is going to stop me from breaking his leg today!”

When he noticed Alfred was still rooted to his spot, he shouted at him, “What are you waiting for? Getme the stick!”

“Yes, Sir!”

Yvonne knew she could not stop her father, so she ran out of the hall and dashed to Justin. “My dad isreally furious now. You know what his temper is like. Since he has vowed to break your leg, he'lldefinitely do so. You have to leave now. If you want to apologize and seek forgiveness, come backagain later when Vero is back,” she urged.

Justin kept his head down and did not utter a word.

“You idiot!” Yvonne glared at him. “Both of you are so stubborn! You're going to cause Vero moreheartache if you get hurt! She has suffered enough, so can't you have mercy on her and quit doingthings that'll hurt her?”

That finally evoked a reaction from Justin, and he looked up with his bloodshot eyes. In a chokingvoice, he said, “Thanks for your concern, Yvonne. It is a fact that I've done something wrong. As youhave said so yourself, I've made her suffer, so it's only fair that I take the punishment.”

“You...” Before Yvonne could continue, Alfred had come back with a walking stick in his hand.

Bill snatched the walking stick from Alfred and yelled for two helpers to restrain Yvonne. He thendashed down the steps and headed for Justin. Upon reaching Justin, he raised the walking stick andmercilessly strike Justin's leg with it.

Thud!

That strike caused Justin to topple forward and fall on his face. Physically, he was already extremelyexhausted, so when Bill landed a second strike on him, he fainted.

“Justin...” someone shrieked from a distance.

The next moment, Veronique dashed over and shielded Justin with her body. She looked up at herfather and sobbed, “Dad, he hasn't gotten any rest for a few days, and he's about to collapse. If youcontinue with the beating, you'll kill him!”

“Get lost! Or I'll hit you as well!” Bill threatened.

He raised his arm and was poised to strike again.

Alas, Veronique did not budge. Instead, she turned around, lean onto Justin, and closed her eyes,

ready to take the beating.

Bill's arm froze in mid-air. The sight of his daughter's back reminded him of the previous beating, andhis heart bled.

He despondently took a couple of steps back and sighed. “Forget it! I don't want to hurt our relationshipover this.”

With that, he turned around and staggered back to the hall.

As Yvonne hurried over to support Bill, she shouted to Veronique, “Veronique, you'd better bring Justinto the infirmary. Be quick. He may be suffering from a heat stroke.”

Veronique paid no heed to her sister. She got off Justin, pulled him over, and cradled him in her armsinstead.

Looking at his ghostly pale face, she muttered, “Why are you doing this? Even if you punish yourself, you can't make up for the sufferings I endured.”

Meanwhile, at Dyke Pharmaceutical, when Kayden stepped into his office, he was shocked to see ayoung woman seated in his chair. Frowning, he asked, “Who are you? Why are you in my office?”

The young lady gave him a big smile, parted her sensual red lips, and said, “I'm Zoey Shurmer.”

After a brief daze, Kayden quickly composed himself and said, “Oh, Ms. Zoey, what can I do for you?”

Zoey leaned forward, stood up from the executive chair, and strolled toward Kayden. Smilingly, shenovelbin

said, “I heard you have a gambling debt of three hundred million in the city of Durbaine, and you're notdoing too well financially now, Mr. Jennings. Thus, I thought I'll come by to extend you some help.”

Kayden was stunned. He narrowed his eyes at Zoey and attempted to sound her out. “What do youmean, Ms. Zoey?” he asked.

Zoey tilted her chin toward the direction of the office table, directing his attention to two pieces of paperon it. “There's a check for three hundred million and a get-rich proposal on the table. Read it, and you'llknow what I mean.”

Kayden walked over to the table apprehensively and reached for the check. He saw that it was indeeda check of three hundred million.

Next, he picked up the other piece of paper, and his eyes began to narrow as he read its content.

“What do you mean by this, Ms. Zoey? The cancer treatment medicine that we are producing now isbased on Ms. Anonymous' formulation. Patients may die if we tamper with the ingredients,” heprotested.

Zoey raised her eyebrows and smilingly said, “I never asked for anything fatal. It will be sufficient if thepatients suffer from some side effects after taking the medicine.”

Kayden collapsed into his chair. With a trembling voice, he said, “M-Ms. Zoey, you are risking theShurmer family's reputation! Your family has put in a lot of effort to build up our brand in the pastcentury. If anything goes wrong, all their past efforts will go down the drain.”

Zoey leaned against the bookshelf, fiddled with her nails, and nonchalantly said, “The new formulation

is from Ms. Jefferson, and we're merely in charge of the production. If we replace the sample as well, then we can put the blame on Ms. Jefferson. We just need to prove that the problem lies with thesample she gave us!”
