Artemis stood up from the chair, placed his hands on the table, and looked at her with a smile. “Ithought you were a smart person, Victoria. Since you're friends with Bailey, I thought that at least youwon't be that stupid, but I am disappointed by your decision today,” he remarked, enunciating everysingle word.
Victoria bowed deeply, and her tone remained firm. “You need not use reverse psychology on me, Mr.Luther. I've made up my mind, and I won't change it because of anyone. Saunders Group is now inneed of people, and I want to go back to help my father.”
“Is that so?” A mysterious smile appeared on Artemis' face. “The reason Saunders Group achieved itscurrent glory is entirely due to the annexation of Gezmond Group. Would it not unsettle you when yougo back? Or do you have other plans, such as... handing over Saunders Group to the original owner.”
As Victoria trembled slightly, her expression also gradually stiffened. She replied in a somewhat shakyvoice, “You've gone too far with your words, Mr. Luther. No matter what, the Saunders family is myorigin. How can I bring disaster upon my family by opening the door to a dangerous foe?”

She had merely taken two steps when Artemis' deep voice suddenly came from behind. “Some peopleare destined to become only a memory, for they have a complete life now, while there are also somepeople whom we should firmly grasp. Victoria stopped in her tracks and stood still for a few seconds before stepping forward again. “Thankyou for the advice, Mr. Luther. If something is meant to happen in life, it will happen.”
Meanwhile, in the infirmary of the Chivers residence, Bailey was doing a post-operative examination onGlen.
“How is it? Is Grandpa's condition stable?” Edmund asked from the side.
Bailey put away the stethoscope, looked at the wound on the old man's head again, and chuckled. “Itold you that I know how to read faces and understand the art of fortune-telling. Old Mr. Chivers isblessed with longevity. It's truly not something I made up.”
Hearing this, Edmund could not hold back his laughter. “Even if he's blessed with longevity, he probablywouldn't live past this year if he hadn't met you. It's all thanks to you. On behalf of the Chivers family, Ithank you for saving his life.”
After speaking, he took a step back and bowed deeply at her.

Edmund reached out and clasped her arm before saying with a smile, “Then marry into the Chiversfamily and be filial to Grandpa as his granddaughter-in-law, and also fulfill my dream all these years.You are the only one I want in this lifetime, Bay, and I won't marry anyone else.”

Glen's light coughs came from the bed. “Silly boy! How can you propose to her like this? No wonderyou haven't won her over after pursuing her for so many years. You truly don't know how to beromantic. First of all, the atmosphere isn't right. Secondly, there aren't any flowers, and thirdly, no ring.I'll be shocked if Bay said yes.”
Edmund was rendered speechless.
Bailey, on the other hand, snickered. “That's right. With such an insincere proposal, you only haveyourself to blame for my rejection,” she teased.
After saying that, she reached out and patted his shoulder, adding, “Be more thoughtful, young man.”
Edmund was so amused by the two of them that he reached out and massaged his forehead. He gaveGlen a look of slight reproach and whined, “Couldn't you have pretended to be asleep, Grandpa? Baywas about to say yes but look what you've done. You messed it up.”
Glen grunted twice in response before looking over at Bailey. “When will I be able to get out of bed,
Bay? It's Cari's coming-of-age ceremony in a few days. She's my only granddaughter, so I mustattend.”
Bailey replied with a smile, “Don't worry. With my medicine, you'll surely be able to attend your preciousgranddaughter's coming-of-age ceremony.”
The old man looked at the pair by his bedside and broke into a satisfied smile. “Make preparations,Eddy. After Cari's coming-of-age ceremony, I'll personally organize your wedding.”
A joyous look manifested on Edmund's handsome face. “Thank you, Grandpa.”
Bailey was slightly taken aback. When she came to her senses, she said with a faint smile, “There's nohurry. Let's wait until you've fully recovered before discussing this.”
Despite it being a polite refusal, it sounded more like acquiescence to Edmund.
In a trice, his smile grew wider.
“What are you guys talking about?”
A curious voice came from the door, and in the next second, Felicity, Artemis, Yoel, and his wife camein from outside. novelbin
Glen's eyes flickered around the newcomers before falling on Yoel. “I'll decide on Eddy's marriage, andnone of you are allowed to object. After Cari's coming-of-age ceremony, you shall start preparing for hismarriage with Bay,” he said bluntly.
Hearing that, Yoel furrowed his brows.
At that moment, the huge ward was so silent that one could hear a pin drop, and the atmospherebecame tense and depressing.
To everyone's surprise, Felicity spoke up, not against but in favor of it. “I was a fool for being ignorant inthe past. I misunderstood Bailey and denied her exceptional qualities. Since she and Ed truly love eachother, I think it's all right to give them my blessings.”
Several gazes shot toward her, some appearing surprised, some with mixed emotions, some doubtful,and some uncomprehending.
Bailey lowered her head slightly as the corner of her lips evoked a cold smirk.
This old woman is worried that I'll seduce Artemis, get my hands on the man at the helm of LutherGroup, and ruin the entire Luther family. After all, I gave birth to two children for Simon. If I end upmarrying Artemis, the brothers would share a woman, and their family would be heavily criticized bythose outsiders. Hah! She's willing to sacrifice her nephew for the sake of her son. Humans are indeedselfish creatures.
“What are you all doing looking at me like this? Father has agreed to this marriage. Is there any point inme objecting? Since it's pointless, why should I say anything more? To anger him for nothing and affecthis health?”
A strange smile suddenly manifested upon Artemis' face.
Even though it was very faint, Bailey still caught sight of it.
This man must be feeling miserable inside. His grandpa and mother, whom he respects, ignore hisfeelings and emotions and force him to be an austere man with no selfish desires, forbidding him totouch what they considered “taboo”.
