Chapter 184

Master Bailey?

Bailey raised her eyebrows and smirked.

If she had treated me as such from the very beginning and didn't keep clashing with me, would thismany sh*tty things happen? It's not as if I have to be the lead designer of Luther Group. If this womanhad been a little smarter and didn't make me her enemy, seeing as we were connected throughmentorship, would I rob my junior of a position that she's been yearning for many years? In the end,she only has herself to blame for everything. Not only did she ruin her future, but she also got herself acriminal record. She should pay the price she deserves for not knowing her place.

“I'm sure your mentor is already aware of your situation. However, she didn't call me to intercede onyour behalf. Do you know what this means? It means that she tacitly agreed to let you go to prison for afew years to reflect on your actions. You should be thankful that you didn't cause an irreversiblesituation this time. Otherwise, it wouldn't be as simple as spending a few years in prison.”

Jessica clung to the corner of Bailey's clothes and refused to let go as though she was holding on tothe last strand of hope she had found. “Rhonda ordered me to do all of this, Master Bailey. It's thatwoman. She's the one who wants to drive you out of Hallsbay. I-I was merely used as a tool,” she cried.

“Oh? Is that so?”

“Y-Yes, yes. You should know how much that woman hates you, so it's not surprising that sheinstructed me to do these things. I'm not your enemy. The one who truly wants to destroy yourreputation is Rhonda.”

Bailey slowly crouched down and stretched out a finger to lift the other woman's chin while sayinglightly, “I believe you were instructed by Rhonda, but where is the evidence? If you can produce proofthat she instructed you to swap the drafts, I'll overturn the case for you and let Rhonda go to jail in yourplace.”

Jessica froze. Her face instantly turned ashen as she murmured, “Evidence, evidence... I do haveevidence. But... But I can't remember what it is. I'm sure I've gotten hold of dirt on her, but I truly can'tremember it anymore.”

Bailey narrowed her eyes slightly. She lowered her eyes to stare intensely at Jessica and said in a lowvoice, “Look me in the eyes and don't speak.”

Jessica's murmurs ceased abruptly. She stared back in a daze, and after a moment, her pupils beganto dilate.

Bailey stared into her eyes and waited for her to snap back into reality before slowly inquiring, “You justmentioned that you have dirt on Rhonda. What exactly is it? Tell me.”

“Dirt? Yes, I've gotten hold of dirt on Rhonda. It's a shocking secret, one that can ruin her reputation.”

“What is it? Say it!”

“Yes, yes, yes...” Jessica repeated the word many times, and after a full minute, she began to hold herhead while wailing in agony. She had lost her mind. “I can't recall it anymore. I truly can't remember it.”

Bailey narrowed her eyes and stared coldly at Jessica, who was huddled up on the ground, her eyes

flickering with uncertainty.

Based on her experience in hypnotism that she had accumulated over the years, the reason thewoman before her had a mental breakdown without realizing it was because her memory wasdamaged. novelbin

There are three types of memory impairment. Firstly, a hypnotist whose hypnosis skills are superior tomine had erased a particular part of her memory. But this is pretty unlikely as almost no one can beatme in hypnotism in the entire world. Secondly, her brain has been hit hard by external forces. But this isalso unlikely. If she had brain trauma, she should be experiencing extensive memory loss. She can'tjust forget the most important things. Thirdly, it's caused by targeted medication. It's not difficult for anexpert who has studied drugs for decades to erase parts of a person's memory. Oh, that's kind ofinteresting. I wonder what kind of dirt has she gotten hold of on Rhonda to make the latter go to greatlengths to erase a part of her memory.

“Bailey.” Zayron poked his head out from the side, narrowing his eyes at the woman squatting on theground wailing in pain. “Can you restore the memory she lost? I suspect that this woman holdsRhonda's biggest secret,” he said with a frown.

Bailey inclined her head and gave him the side-eye. “Who are you to have that suspicion? Do you haveany basis?”

Um...

The boy touched his nose sheepishly and stepped aside timidly.

I can't just say...

Ding!

The elevator door across from them opened, interrupting Zayron's thoughts. Several uniformed policeofficers came out.

The middle-aged police officer in the lead approached Bailey and nodded to her as a greeting. “Ms.Jefferson, we received news that Ms. Tanner came to your place.”

After saying that, he took out a piece of paper from his pocket and showed it to Bailey before hecontinued, “Jessica Tanner is suspected of involvement in a white-collar crime. We are arresting heraccording to the law. Ms. Jefferson, may I take her away now?”

Bailey narrowed her eyes and looked down at Jessica, who was squatting on the ground, askingsolemnly, “Can this matter be delayed for a few days? As you can see, she's in a very bad state now,and I'm worried that something might happen to her.”

The middle-aged police officer let out a chuckle before uttering plainly, “Every person suspected ofcommitting a crime is in a bad state when they're arrested. After all, we are not saints and can't faceprison sentences calmly. Now that the arrest warrant has been issued, we must take her away. Shouldyou have other considerations, Ms. Jefferson, you may go to the police station to apply for bail pendingtrial within twenty-four hours.”

Hearing that, Bailey shrugged and said nonchalantly, “Despite this woman almost ruining myreputation, I requested this out of consideration of humanitarian spirit. If you don't accept it, forget it.Just take her away and see yourself out.”

After speaking, she turned back to the living room and slammed the door behind her, leaving the policeofficers speechless.

“Why are you still letting those people take her away when you know that part of Jessica's memory waserased, Bailey? She said she had gotten hold of dirt on Rhonda, and it should be a shocking secret. Are you not planning to find out about it?”

Bailey glanced at her son and said indifferently, “My hypnosis can't awaken her memory. Do you think Ican restore her memory overnight?”

“Are you just going to drop this matter then?”

“Let's wait until the issue dies down. I have to analyze what kind of medicine she was injected with todevelop the corresponding antidote. There's no point in insisting on keeping her now.”

Zayron shrugged and replied, “All right then. As long as you know what you're doing.”

Meanwhile, in the CEO's office of Luther Group's headquarters, Artemis raised his eyebrows at theresignation letter in his hand. “This matter has now been cleared up, and Jessica is in prison. You holdno responsibility, so take this resignation letter back and manage the HR department well,” he saidflatly.

Victoria hung her head low, seemingly deep in thought.

After around five minutes of silence, she slowly uttered, “I know that Mr. Gezmond has asked for mydismissal, or else he'll terminate all cooperation with Luther Group. Mr. Luther, this is a personal grudgebetween me and him. I don't want Luther Group to be affected by this.”

Artemis threw the resignation letter in his hand on the table before looking up at her slowly. “You saidthat this is a personal grudge between you and him, and if Mr. Gezmond terminates the cooperationwith us because of that, I can only say that he is short-sighted, and there's no need for us tocollaborate.”

“Thank you, Mr. Luther. I appreciate that, but I still insist on resigning.”
