Chapter 945

Chapter 945 Outmatched

Kate had clearly thought about what she wanted to say, but she had not put on an act of weaknessfrom the beginning.

As Richard’s words had wounded her pride deeply, she was even more determined to avenge herselfthrough Maggie.

Her speech was only meant to agitate Maggie by reminding her of how she had almost caused a childto grow up without a father and been a homewrecker who tore apart an otherwise complete and blissfulfamily.

Any proper or soft-hearted woman would have stepped aside after hearing Kate’s speech.

However, Maggie did not. She was upset at Alex for keeping the fact that he had a child from her andfor the humiliation the Grant family was forced to endure over the fiasco of her wedding.

Maggie would be an incurable fool to believe the woman who showed up at her house and told herthose things.

Even the sappy female lead of the cringiest novel imaginable would not do such a thing. Kate’s tacticwill not work on me.

“If he is that fond of you, why did he marry me immediately after leaving Heather instead of going toyou? You’re merely a tool for him to relieve his urges and not a woman he would be proud to show offto the world. Do you really think of yourself worthy?” Maggie jeered, looking at Kate as though she wasone of those women employed at entertainment clubs.

Kate had underestimated Maggie by thinking of her as a foolish girl who had a crush on Alex. Shewould not have left in a fit of tears otherwise.

However, Kate had never imagined Maggie would respond that way, even insulting her in the process. The turn of events caused a ball of rage to rise within her.

Despite her fury, Kate did not want to concede before her nemesis. She cast her thoughts. back toearlier that day.

“Haven’t you figured out why he wants to marry you? Your family invested thirty billion in the techdome. What other reason would he have to marry you if not for that? Oh, Ms. Grant, I pity you and yoursimple mind to be that na?ve. Why would he marry you if it wasn’t for the benefits your family bringshim? You don’t think he’s really in love with you, do you?”

Maggie began to doubt herself after listening to those words.

Did he really marry me simply for my family’s money? What kind of a man are you, Alex? I thought Iknew you, but now I’m not so sure.

“Speaking of simple minds, you should take a look in the mirror. Not only did you give yourself away, but you also bore a child out of wedlock! Nobody wants you. Out of the two of us, who would you say ismore pathetic?” Maggie retorted defiantly.

I have never been a pushover. Furthermore, the fight was brought to me.novelbin

Kate realized she had been outmatched, and it struck a heavy blow to her confidence. Before sheshowed up, she had not even entertained the possibility of Maggie being an opponent worthy ofconsideration.

“Deep down, you know the answer to that. Some of us have never even been touched by Alex, while Ihave a daughter. I think that speaks for itself. He has zero interest in your body. Why else would hemarry you if not for money? Think about it.”

At that, Kate picked her daughter up and left.
