Chapter 941

Chapter 941 Immoral

“Why would I concern myself with a lowly family?” Richard huffed, his tone dripping with disdain.

The Sutton family of Lumenopolis, in comparison to the esteemed Grant family, was indeed consideredless significant. Richard’s words were not unfounded, but they struck a nerve with. Kate.

He was belittling her family background and mocking their status.

Despite her innocent and harmless appearance, Kate was an ambitious woman. Her determination hadled her to Nebula City alone, making every effort to establish contact with

Alex.

She was capable of going to great lengths for the sake of her family even if it meant seducing theabandoned child of the Jeffersons to bring the Suttons closer to their goals. Richard’s dismissiveattitude toward her family displeased her greatly.

Kate’s smile faded momentarily as a fleeting glimmer of hatred flashed in her eyes, but it swiftlyvanished. She regained her composure and replied nonchalantly, “That’s true, Old Mr. Grant, butfortunes and circumstances can change over time. Who’s to say that the Suttons wouldn’t grow to bemore powerful than the Grants one day?”

“Then I’d like to see for myself when that happens.” Richard glared at Alex. “Alex, I no longer wish tohear your explanations. I will order my men to withdraw the investment fund from the tech domeimmediately. This will show you that the Grants are not to be taken lightly!”novelbin

Richard waved his hand dismissively and stormed off, his anger simmering. He felt a profound sense ofsadness and disappointment to discover that someone he had held in such high regard had committedsuch an act.

Even his friend, Giles, refrained from adding fuel to the fire and simply sighed inwardly.

Alex had once been considered a candidate to become Giles’ grandson-in-law, and the unexpectedturn of events was beyond anyone’s anticipation.

Witnessing Richard’s sorrow and confusion, Giles offered some comfort, saying, “Cheer up, Richard. Iwill gift you my most precious chess set.”

Giles possessed a chess set that had once belonged to the renowned chess player Jan Timmin in the1980s. Richard had expressed his desire to own that chess set in the past, although it was rarely takenout when they spent time together.

Now, Giles willingly offered it to Richard as a gesture of support, believing he deserved it.

“Ah… I’m exhausted, Giles. I need some rest,” Richard said and left in his private car.

Giles couldn’t help but sigh. He felt that Richard didn’t deserve to go through such a situation.

Just then, Lydia, who had been standing beside him, spoke up. “Grandpa, I don’t think Alex is that kindof man. He doesn’t seem like a cheater. I don’t believe it!”

Giles was at a loss for words as he watched Lydia express unwavering confidence in Alex even in theface of the current circumstances.

“You’ve only met him a few times. How can you be so certain about what kind of person he is?Besides, the child is his, and that is the truth,” Giles replied.

On the bright side, Giles thought, at least they had uncovered Alex’s true colors after everything thathad transpired.

It would serve as a wake-up call for his stubborn granddaughter, reminding her not to fixate on such animmoral man.

Deep down, Lydia was aware that Giles made a valid point. She had only crossed paths with Alex on afew occasions, and the evidence against him was hard to ignore. However, she had a strong feelingthat Alex wasn’t the person they believed him to be.

Just as she was about to enter the car, she turned around and gave the castle one last look. Alex, Ibelieve you. You’re not that kind of man.
