After hurrying out of the car, Stannis worked his way toward the hotel, wondering why the big shot fromLumenopolis was there. If he could help him out, he would be able to rise to great heights in no time.
With that thought in mind, Stannis quickened his footsteps and soon arrived inside the hotel. He thenraked his gaze across his surrounding’s in search of the other man.
He only took two steps before he noticed the two old men sitting in the lobby.
Despite their age and the lack of bodyguards around them, a voice in Stannis’ mind told him that theelderly men were not nobodies. They carried themselves proudly in the way powerful men would.
As a matter of fact, Stannis was sure that the elderly men were much mightier than Maggie.
Without further ado, he walked over to them and bowed at them. “My name is Stannis Zita, I’ve beenstaying in this hotel for a while now, and I’m quite familiar with this place and its people. If any issues,perhaps I might be able to lend a helping hand to you.”
However, the two men did not think well of the young man. Jared turned to Stannis and “No need. Wewon’t need your help.”
Hearing Jared’s stern voice only made Stannis become surer that the elderly men before him wextraordinary people. He was not going to give up on the opportunity, so he did not leave right aw

“Gentlemen, you don’t sound local. I’m genuinely familiar with this place. Please don’t hesitate to ask manything.” Stannis insisted.
Right as Jared was about to say something else, Magnus, who was clad in a black robe, patted histhigh and. hinted at him to simply sit in silence.
Even though Jared was a man of high status, he was obedient in the face of Magnus, so he stoppedtalking
to Stannis.
Right then, the hotel manager completed his checking and approached the two elderly men. After abow, he ignored Stannis and said to them. “I’ve already looked into this, and the Alex Jefferson thatyou’re looking for has been found. Indeed, he’s currently staying in this hotel. However, I went to checkhis room carlier, and it seems like he went out. He’ll probably be back at night because his luggage isstill in thenovelbin
room.”
Stannis was just pondering how he could get in the elderly men’s good books when he heard the hotel.manager mention Alex’s name.

Without hesitation, Stannis stepped forward and said to the elderly men, “Sirs, are you looking for AlexJefferson? I know an Alex Jefferson who stays in this hotel too, and I wonder if he’s the same personyou’re looking for.”
The second those words were out of his mouth, the other three men turned to look at Stannis. EvenJared, who had been looking down on Stannis from the start, was looking at him solemnly.
“The Alex I know is someone I came to know at Green Mountain Monastery. He seems like animpressive
individual, for he had crippled Green Mountain Monastery’s Master Antoine. He’s in his twenties, andhe has a son and a pretty young woman by his side. The young woman is from Lumenopolis too.”
Stannis had deliberately avoided revealing his relationship with Alex by only telling the two men Alex’spersonal details and the things he had done.
After all, Stannis was not a fool. He had no idea whether the two elderly men before him were friendsor foes of Alex, and if they were Alex’s enemies, it would be best for him to stay out of their business.
By then, Jared was certain that the Alex they were looking for was the same Alex that Stannis knew, sohe nodded at Magnus.
“So you know where they are? Take us there,” Magnus hoarsely ordered.
