Chapter 839

Chapter 839 Aiden Ward

Carmen was not a kindhearted person. She wanted nothing more than to watch the man before herjump so she could snap a picture and post it on her social media.

She was about to say, “Die quickly! I’m here to enjoy the show!”

However, before she could say it, the man jumped off the railing and onto the ground. Carmen wasshocked when he wrapped his arms around her.

“You pervert! Let go of me, or I’ll call the police!” Carmen yelled as she used all her strength to push theman away.

However, no matter how much she struggled, the man would not loosen his grip. Carmen was scaredout of her wits.

“What the heck are you trying to do? I’ll give you money if that’s what you want! But if you have otherintentions, I must tell you I’m quite old! Surely I’m not your type!” Tears fell from Carmen’s eyes.

The man was dumbfounded. He did not expect Carmen to cry. Afraid that his actions would attract theattention of others and they would report him to the police, he quickly let go of her and pulled out sometissue to wipe her face.

“Don’t cry. It’s all my fault. Did I scare you?” The man’s voice was soft as he gently tucked Carmen’sstray, hair behind her ears. He looked at her as though she was his lover.

Carmen stood rooted to her spot. As though electrocuted by his touch, she lost all reasoning and abilityto think.

However, she soon returned to her senses. She pushed the man’s hand away and stuttered. “W-Whatare you trying to do?”

The man took some money from his pocket and placed it in Carmen’s hands. “I failed in my business. This two thousand is the last of my money. I’m sorry for being so reckless and shocking you. Pleasetake this money as compensation.”

Carmen could not hold back her happiness as she stared at the cash in her hands. Although she wasrich, it did not change the fact that she liked to take advantage of others’ goodwill.

She was not interested in the life or death of others either. Just as she was about to leave, the manbehind her said, “Thank you for the hug. You are the most beautiful and ladylike woman I’ve ever met.”

Carmen was taken aback when she heard that. It took her some time to return to her senses. Alter somany years, that was the first time a man had complimented she was beautiful and ladylike. Sheimmediately felt warmth spread across her chest.

Ever since her husband passed away, no one had ever flirted with her. Now that I think about it, it’sbeen more than ten years since Adrian died.

All those years, she had spent her days alone. Although she felt lonely and it wasn’t easy, she stillhoped to meet someone who understood her and whom she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.

Carmen hurriedly shook her head to expel that thought out of her mind.

“Y-You’re so young. Why do you want to end your life?” Carmen asked after listening to the man’scompliment.

“My investment failed, and I’ve lost everything. My girlfriend also ran away with someone else.” Themant stared at Carmen emotionally. “If I had met someone like you, perhaps I wouldn’t have ended up

like this, huh?” He sighed and lowered his head.

Carmen felt her heart ache. The man in front of her was young and likable. It was a pity if he were todie just like that. I might as well hire him as my bodyguard.

“Young man, why don’t you work for me as my bodyguard?” Carmen suggested.

A grin appeared on the man’s lips. However, when he looked up at Carmen, his expression returned toa sad one.

“Thank you for your kind offer. Indeed, I didn’t make the mistake of hugging you. Not only are youbeautiful, but you’re kind too… However, I’m not suited to be a bodyguard. My heart is set on doingbusiness. Only then will I be able to go after what I like.”novelbin

The look he gave Carmen was passionate and adoring, causing her to mistake herself for the womanhe liked.

Carmen’s cheeks tinted red in embarrassment. She thought that the man before her looked more andmore appealing.

Through clenched teeth, she said, “Don’t choose death, young man! I’ll help you make a successfulcomeback!”

The man stepped forward, wanting to hug Carmen again, but he suddenly paused in his actions as hethought of how inappropriate it was. Instead, he replied excitedly. “Don’t call me young man! Judging byyour looks, you must be in your early thirties. I’m thirty-one, so I might be older than you. My name isAiden Ward.”
