After six years of marriage, this was the first time Jerome threw such a fit of rage at Lori. Her heartclenched as a sense of panic overwhelmed her.
Looking at Jerome kneeling in front of Alex with fear in his eyes, Lori finally realized that somethinghuge was about to happen.
At this thought, Lori dared not utter a word in Alex’s face. Yet, she felt too ashamed to open her mouthand say sorry to him.
“That’s enough. We’ll talk about it in the office tomorrow.” Alex’s eyes turned frigid because he couldvaguely guess the reason Jerome apologized to him.
When the school bell rang, he ignored Jerome and his wife and walked away to look for his son,Stanley.
Alex’s unresponsiveness made Jerome’s heart grew icy cold.

Nonetheless, as classes had just ended, the crowd no longer cared about them and went theirseparate ways to pick their children up.
“Jerome, what’s wrong? Who exactly is Alex? Isn’t he only a security guard? Why are you so afraid ofhim?” Lori asked nervously while holding Jerome’s arms. His ashen face had frightened her.
“I’m in hot water because of you.” Jerome stared helplessly at Lori, wishing that he could strangle her.
Lori was the one who caused things to turn out this way. The other day at the amusement park, Loriwas relentless and kept nagging about teaching Alex and his family a lesson.
If it weren’t for her, he wouldn’t have been so arrogant towards Alex, and Madison wouldn’t havehumiliated him too.
Then he wouldn’t have thought of taking revenge on Alex and Madison.
Unfortunately, there was no way he could undo all these, and it was pointless to feel regret now.
“How did I put you in hot water? Explain!” Lori became increasingly terrified by Jerome’s agitation.
“Do you know who he really is?” Jerome said furiously as he turned to look at Alex’s figure, that wasnow in a distance.
“Isn’t he the live-in son-in-law of the Jennings family?” Lori asked hesitantly.
“Yes, he is, but he’s also the chairman of the Four Seas Corporation!”
Jerome stared at his wife scornfully while muttering, “If it weren’t because of you wanting to humiliatehim the other day, things wouldn’t have ended up like this. We have spread rumors and libeled him onthe Internet. Do you know that we’ll have to go to jail if he doesn’t forgive us?”

Jerome’s words sounded like thunder in Lori’s ears, trampling on her pride.
